One way or the other, lol. It's not like we'll go into the New Year without one.

Call it what you want … you need to move on from Collaros
We traded for Nichols in 2015 when Willy was injured, but Willy was still our starter in 2016 and was benched for performance after a 1-4 start. Nichols obviously got injured, but I don't think we ever saw Strev as a starter as we were reportedly attempting to trade for Collaros that whole season before the shake-up in Toronto allowed us to get him at the deadline. And we never looked back once he got in. MOS called Zach into his office after the Grey Cup saying, "we need you here"; while we were all still having our Nichols vs Collaros debates. If you consider that we also tried to bring in Darian Durant as a back-up, not to mention trying to sign a young Collaros and an old Henry Burris before settling on Willy, QB is actually a position where this regime has been very proactive; despite message board posters bitching about MOS being loyal to a fault.

That’s not true.

Nope, just seems semi-logical that they will work top down. Bit of a time crunch with the GMs that the player deals don't have.

There could be a grain of truth in that, they may be focused on getting the GMs in place before moving onto any player deals. If Walters comes back, it's probably at the expense of one of the GMs, if he's not, Teddy probably slides into his place. Either way, gotta get everyone settled in their roles before they start working those roles.

Depends on your organizational goals and how you view the rest of the league. Do we think that this team as it’s constructed is still going to challenge for first place over the rest of Collaros’ contract? Is it more important to us to keep the current window open and try to get Grey Cups right now? Or is this roster falling short across the league and we feel that there’s potential to crack open a new window, maybe spend the next season or two reloading and aim for a separate championship window later? Bird in hand vs. two in the bush scenario.

I am in a place and I think the team is still in a place where the proven vet is still worth more than unproven potential. But I 100% understand where you're coming from. And aside from our personal opinions, I also believe there is zero chance the team moves on from Zach, so there's almost no point in even considering that option if we're sitting here trying to figure out what next year's team will look like. Write #8 in pen.

I agree with everything. Love Dru Brown. But I'm still in Zach's corner and will let him lead the team until he chooses to walk away or until the wheels actually start to fall off.

Call it what you want … you need to move on from Collaros
It's funny, because for my entire Blue Bomber fandom, I've always been in favour of the young, up and comer. I'd be searching old scouting reports and stats for Alex Brink and Joey Elliott trying to find ways to convince myself that they could be developed into the guy, or looking at other teams back-ups like a young Collaros or Bo Levi and want us to trade for them. But now that we have the guy that's led us to Grey Cups, I don't want to let him go, even if it means losing the potential. It would have been really nice if this part of Brown's career arc lined up with Zach's eventual retirement, but it didn't. So good luck Dru, maybe we'll see you in FA in two years.

Same thing (but worse) if we lose Collaros and Brown is hot garbage as a starter

FA will come eventually.

I'm sorry. But that's nonsense and not worth talking about.

He was arguing the past. He said 2023 Zach looked like late career BLM/Calvillio (although I don't think Calvillio really ended on a bad note - can't quite remember off hand). BLM is hot garbage. Zach was first or second in the league in every relevant category.

You can't argue that at all with any evidence.

And carrying the 36 year old punter on the roster for most of the season. GCn20 must be right, it must have been their global plan. Need to shore up those global players next season.

Could very well be.

Which Vets do we cut next season
Everyone would love that. But as fans of the CFL, it's so disheartening seeing a guy languishing on a PR or ST role for more money than he'd get in the CFL, but who could have a long, all-star career in the league.

Excellent K. The only consideration is the use of multiple roster spots for K and P. It's at least worth having a conversation about.

Sounds a bit like fear mongering to get some season ticket sales to me.

It's been a few days since the season ended. It takes a little time to find common ground (or not) during negotiations.

He signed a two year deal before ever starting a game. He was definitely giving us a ton of value. Too bad we couldn't capitalize.

I love you all.
Not to nerd out, but that's the moment Bilbo gave up the ring.

I'm generally not too worried about our D. We were #1 in pretty much all categories. Our DB scouting has been pretty top tier. I would love to see more rostered DL. Adding Kongbo and/or Bennett should be expected not hoped for. If we stay true to form, we're not spending on DT and will let Walker...walk...rather than give him a raise. That means bringing in lots of bodies to TC. We have the LBing pieces, but if a young guy can steal a spot, all the better. Ford coming in and taking a starter role (even if it's over the course of a the season) would be huge. Offence could change a great deal based on Brady and Dalton and Stanley. I think those are all survivable, but would like to see Eli shore up the front.

I believe the original point about Walters in those early drafts was that, even though Mack was in charge and made the picks, he had little interest in the Canadian draft and relied solely on Walters' scouting reports.
