  1. Uhhh oh, got caught underpaying appreciated assets. @JohnDHodge Per sources, Jackson Jeffcoat will not re-sign with the Blue Bombers before the CFL's negotiation window opens on Feb. 4. A return to Winnipeg remains possible but it appears the 33-year-old wants to find out what other options are available. #Bombers | #ForTheW | #CFL | #CFLFA
  2. Have to be good at more than run blocking, pass protection and consistent ball snapping ability is probably more important.
  3. Sure they could, all they'd have to do is cut the corresponding positional players after signing Bomber FA's and they'd be instantly better in most positions. O'Day claims putting together an improved O-line is his main priority, so spending more/smarter money on the O-line shouldn't be a problem if it improves QB protection. What better way to get ahead quickly than buying out a large chunk of a better teams O-line or an entire coaching staff!
  4. I think it's pretty risky to let players that are willing to re-sign for more or less the same money as last year reach FA, never know what offers they could receive that convince them to leave and screw up the team's continuity and depth. For instance, say Sask. goes all in on their O-line and decides to offer Gray, Kona and Hardrick $30k more than Walters was planning to pay them. All of a sudden, the O-line is at risk of losing 3 of it's starting members and has to find replacements, or Walters ends up coughing up more cash than he originally planned to retain them. This is just a made up example of unexpected things that could happen, I repeat a made up example.
  5. Anyone have a link to a free stream for this game?
  6. Depends what you mean by resetting the market, at the time Bighill first signed in 2018 he became the highest paid D- player in the CFL, only to be eclipsed by Jefferson's signing in 2019. Decent chance Stanley was also the highest paid O-lineman in the league at one time as well.
  7. More like 1-1/2 years, he was brought in mid-season.
  8. Probably no other team looking for an Import FG kicker, 6 out of 9 employ a Natl. Bede and Faithful being the exceptions.
  9. The Elks have Kevin Brown on an ELC, he was #2 behind Brady in rushing yards. If any teams are interested in Brady, I suspect it would be BC, Sask. or Ottawa, but for the numbers he's looking for it makes little economic sense for any of those teams.
  10. Stanback made about $170k last season and he's maybe the 4th or 5th best RB in the league now, making Brady the top paid RB in CFL history could be accomplished for $180k. Who is going to offer him more?
  11. I would assume Walters took all the money saving loopholes into consideration when negotiating Zach's last contract to get the most mileage out of his dollar. But maybe there is a way to restructure it further without Zach taking a pay-cut. If I was Walters I'd play the "save Dalton card".
  12. I guess those NFL tryouts didn't materialize, he's a CFL lifer now.
  13. Cutting Liegghio showed how serious O'Shea is about having a reliable FG kicker who can perform when the chips are down, it's a huge priority for this team and Castillo delivered. Despite all the ratio implications it causes, I think they easily retain Castillo and work around the ratio once again, since there doesn't appear to be a Natl. FG kicker lined up to challenge him.
  14. Missing out on Brown, the Ti-Cats don't have a lot of options left, I think Milanovitch hands the ball to Bo and tells him to "show me". I don't think they're counting on retaining Shiltz who could be a hot commodity as #2 on multiple teams, and I doubt Powell can win 50% of his games if thrown into the fire again this season, although he has the potential to be good down the road.
  15. 15) Dru Brown, Winnipeg Blue Bombers (A) Hard money: $82,000 Maximum value: $97,000 The Oklahoma State product has a $75,000 base salary with $7,000 in housing money and will collect $500 each time he plays more than 51 percent of Winnipeg’s offensive plays in a game.
  16. Barriere looks to be the spittin' image of V.A., pocket passer with good mobility and a good arm, not much for rolling out or throwing on the run though, he likes to be planted. He has the talent but whether he can learn to adjust his game or read the field at all remains to be seen, it only took V.A. 6 years to establish himself as a starter.
  17. Milanovich-Litre could definitely be used in place of Jackson and would be a handy offensive tool, but not as a replacement for Brady. I like Argo Daniel Adeboboye but it appears he's under contract for at least another year.
  18. Ford was a second round pick in 2022. Here's a bunch of gobbledygook that explains the limitations of his contract. The 2019 CBA introduces a rookie salary structure for Nationals first contract consisting of 2 years plus a team option. A Max. Min salary is defined as $65,000 for the first two years of the contract, with a maximum housing allowance or signing/roster bonus of $7,500 per season and maximum 50% + 1 bonus based on snaps of $7,500 per season for a maximum earnings of $80,000 for first and second round picks in their first two seasons, with the third season base salary not exceeding the second year base salary by more that 10%.
  19. Ford is already under contract, so I guess we won't hear anything about him until he shows up at TC....or not.
  20. Additionally Harris signed a low value contract with the Als in 2022 and promptly took the starting job away from Vernon Adams after Khari was fired. He led them to a second place finish and an Eastern Final appearance in which he completed 25 passes out of 30 attempts for 362 yards and one touchdown in the 34–27 loss to the Argos. He's not a scrub and can make things happen when set up in a good offence with decent protection.
  21. They'd be smart to pursue Shiltz but don't know if they could afford him.
  22. The Riders can't be dumb enough to roll with the same 3 QB lineup that failed them badly last season, by hoping for a better result this season. If Harris goes down again early, they are hooped.
