  1. Watched 6 episodes of The Bookie so far and it's hilarious, stars stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco and has a number of famous guest appearances, Ray Romano, Charlie Sheen, Rob Coddry and Wayne Knight so far. Each episode is short but sweet at 22 mins. each, it doesn't take itself at all seriously, best laughs I've had from a TV series in a long time.
  2. He was and he also considered it not worth the time put in to continue playing for such a ridiculous wage. Luckily Walters stepped up and convinced him to come back.
  3. Another season as bad as last and Huff will fix his gaze on Dickenson as a problem to be resolved, so Davie-boy can't afford to hitch his wagon solely to an inefficient Maier. With their background of effective QB development I think Calgary would be an excellent landing spot for Brown. If they gave Maier a haircut and could accommodate them both for $600k, they could create a solid 1A-1B combo.
  4. They could have signed him a month ago, dilly-dally on the decision and more teams become interested. Calgary could even consider him as an improvement over Maier.
  5. This is turning out to be a great series, not a bad episode in the bunch, mixing in Malcolm X and Ali makes it all that much more interesting. Vincent D'Onofrio plays an excellent foil, he's got a bit of Brian Dennehy in him, both in looks and style.
  6. Can't understand why the RB's are not looking at MBT as a quick and easy replacement for their Masoli woes, take salary from one, give to the other. They could end up with a solid QB room with Crum and Adams behind MBT.
  7. The Elks can always rid themselves of Cornelius's contract by trading him, I don't know if that means the club that acquires him gets stuck with the guaranteed money, or if they can renegotiate it away. It has to be pretty evident from both sides he didn't earn his keep.
  8. Cody has the extra motivation of being hated by an entire province, it pushed him over the top.
  9. I can't figure out what limits him or any other QB with the right athleticism and tools, as Prukop received the same input as Brown and has a better body for the job. Is it intelligence, confidence, dedication to the craft, competitiveness, or the case that they may not have been a dominant player from a very young age, forged at birth. It's a mystery.
  10. He's big, young, can run like a deer in open space and best of all, heavy balls.
  11. If Jones cut him, I'd take him over Prukop, at least he still has the potential to be rehabbed.
  12. That's all they expect from him, I don't know why he's hit his ceiling and can't progress beyond, but like Dom Davis, some QB's seem to be incapable of progressing beyond spot duty.
  13. For what he's used for he gets the job done, if he wants to come back for the same wage, I suspect the Bombers would take him. You have to remember Zach loved that QB room and his opinion counts a lot.
  14. ...and that decision may already be made, if Brown agreed to terms to stay for another year, they would probably have announced it this week. He'd be dumb not to explore FA. Here's what he earned last season, making him the 15th highest paid QB in the land. Hard money: $82,000 Maximum value: $97,000 "The Oklahoma State product has a $75,000 base salary with $7,000 in housing money and will collect $500 each time he plays more than 51 percent of Winnipeg’s offensive plays in a game." If anything the ability to pay him more will be more challenging next season, considering all the other major bumps Walters has to administer.
  15. No team would be foolish enough to offer him a one year deal so he can double back after year one, if he wants access to the land of $300k+ contracts he's going to have to show them some commitment so they can build an offence around him, by signing a 2 maybe 3 year contract. GM's and coaches will also consider retaining their own jobs in this process, if Brown signs for one year and leaves after a good or a bad season, it would leave a coach like Bob Dyce in the same vulnerable position of starting again with nuthin'.
  16. Looking forward to what Max Charbonneau 6'-3" 225 lbs. Natl. LB can bring to the table, draft pick last year that did not look out of place in the pre-season games.
  17. Kramdi has become a versatile ratio option on defence, he allows them to play one less Natl. on the D-line.
  18. Hope they make it more of a spectacle this year, they've dialed back media attention since the last time it was held in Wpg.
  19. Only a couple of business days left in the year and they've only announced the resigning of 2 players, not a lot of time left to spend leftover 23 cap money.
  20. Because general consensus is Eli is ready to assume the Centre position and offers more upside. Are you suggesting Kola displaces someone else along the line or would be happy becoming the 6th man? He may not start on most teams but he could probably find 2 or 3 that would be happy to have him.
  21. Dobson appears to be the only one that isn't a FA this year, which is weird because he just finished his second year with the team.
  22. TBD, maybe Kola, Gray or Dobson, nobody wants to be the 6th man at this point in their careers.
  23. The alternative is receiving nothing and seeing an O-lineman or two leave to play elsewhere.
