No Means No @ Win Means West Final: The GDT

Don't think Zach's going to roll freely with 9 D-linemen with significant names rotating in his face all game long, if they win it's likely to be a low-scoring gritty affair relying heavily on Sergio to bring his salsa. They may get lucky if Kelly hands them a few timely turnovers along the way. -
Cole played more as a pass rush specialist last season and rarely got plugged into the defence in any other role. It's a given he's athletically gifted but he may not have the football IQ of some of his competitors.

Consider the trade for Nichols probably saved O'Shea's job, so nothing else would be the same if that one hadn't happened. That could have been the first step, but it took Neufeld a long time to recover from the injuries he was suffering when he first arrived, he wasn't seen as a great pickup for the first year or two. -

Lawler credits Darvin with teaching him how to study the playbook until he knew it inside out, something Lawler admits he did not do seriously when he first arrived in Wpg.. -
May God protect you from the backwash, PM me your home address and I'll protect if from looting, should that happen to occur.

For what it's worth, considering the teams they played for were not evenly matched in talent, Crum outperformed in almost every category. He remains a backup that can win the occasional game, as a future starter we'd be lucky if that translated into a .500 record, that is if he could remain healthy. Coming out of the current era of success, that's not going to be good enough. His demonstrated QB skill level falls somewhat below that of Dustin Crum. -

It's not worth wasting another year to find out if he can or can't, with Zach's time left at the helm expiring quickly. Time to put Strev's "what ifs" away in the past memory box and move on. -
Still uneasy about the unknown, if the Argo or Als defence are capable of shutting Zach+Brady down, gaining more confidence the defence can handle anything thrown at them.

Strev. was on a one year contract, can't really see any point to re-signing him in the off-season, whatever magic he once had, is gone. -

Stumbled upon this old game on YouTube from 1963, it features Ron Lancaster and George Reed and is well worth watching through for it's many oddities, one of which is the insane playoff structure the CFL employed back then, the Western team would have to win 4 or 5 playoff games to make the GC while the Eastern team only 1. -
It's the Boveralls effect.

That would have been Taman/Chamblin regime, Jones refused to pay Dressler his deferred contract amount when he chose to come back to the Riders from his NFL stint instead of signing with the Argos for much more. -

This, even if Mace becomes a great HC, he doesn't have the super competent people needed above him in the organization to make it a top regime. Just recall how many years they've relied on picking up league retreads instead of finding their own players. At least for the short time John Murphy was there they had a decent influx of new players recruited. -

Agree, this scheme allows the Safety and MLB to play more traditional roles, which allows them to focus on their primary responsibilities and simplifies the positional play when others have to step in for them.
-
Willy needs help, nobody has stepped up to replace Jeffcoat who was a handful to contend with on every play, the pass rush has become a secondary function.

Anyone else suspect BLM has been dipping into stem cell therapy? His return to form has been close to remarkable.

While you've been persistently complaining about Kramdi throughout this season, he's been busy becoming a team leader on defence and working his way into all-star contention. I guess he's this year's version of Evan Holm. -

Not Zach, nor Lawler, nor nobody else is going to accept less pay if they keep winning and make it to the GC game. How would Walters justify offering them less for doing their jobs to the standard they agreed to? If they missed the playoffs, he might have a legitimate case. As for Lawler, last night was likely his peak career performance, not to be counted on or repeated next week or on any other date going forward. The stars aligned perfectly for a spectacular one night show of highwire thrills, I doubt he ever has another game were fortune shines as brightly upon him as it did last night, and I hope both he and Zach are aware of that. Some very good things only happen once, Matt Dunigan knows.
