2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread

I'd rather they pay Holm decently and convince him to stay long-term along with Nichols to maintain core consistency in the secondary, rather than spend on a high-flyer like Ford who will eventually leave to play elsewhere. -
Strev. become inoperable in early Sept., they had 3 months to figure something out.

The 6'-7" decoy parked at the far end of the bench may have many unanswered questions about the reason for his existence. Unfortunately Brit Dort had no answers.

It'd be nice to have the personnel and ability to play both systems well and be able to mix it up better, sometimes the 3-4 works and sometimes it doesn't. Don't mind it when it works but having to stick with it through a game when it's not working is painful to watch. -

Maybe Sunderland can dig up his old pal Jamie Elizondo for the OC job, hasn't been seen since he left the Esks. in 2021. -

Kramdi is getting better every year, I think they'd want to keep him busy closer to the action so he can make plays, not back at Safety where he may only get 3 or 4 interactions per game. I think his weakness would be in deep coverage against speed. -

Dumb Buck, Stanback is much more effective than Butler. Watch the Riders dump Ouellette and grab Stanback. -

Wheatfall and Clercius will have a year under their belt and they're still on their ELC's, that's close enough to rookies -

****! Invest an entire year developing a guy just to watch him walk out the door! Start again, but find a cost effective vet. this time. https://3downnation.com/2025/01/09/winnipeg-blue-bombers-rec-ontaria-wilson-signs-with-new-york-jets/#:~:text=The New York Jets have,to pursue the NFL opportunity. -

Wonder if the Ti-Cats tried to retain Jones as DC and he turned it down for this job? Can't see them selecting Brent Monson over him after the great job he did as temp DC after taking over last season. Not sure what's going on in Hamilton, they've loaded up on paper pushers and have only 2 coaches on staff right now in Milanovich and Monson. Maybe a wee bit top heavy? Betts salary of $260k may have set him off, as last season he was paid $200k according to 3DN. He deserves a swack of promo money even if his play no longer justifies a raise, Willie, Brady and Zach are the 3 most recognizable faces on the team with Willie being the most vocal cheerleader for the franchise.

Hard to say, but I think sparks will fly at the annual CFL meetings if Doman doesn't clamp down on his free spending, they're not going to allow one owner to completely ignore well established SMS limits. -

I'm surprised they dropped the antlers, good things have been done with a horny beast. Dangerous receiver when healthy, but that's been rare. -
It's no different than the Riders or Lions coming in all cocky and hot on a winning streak and getting repeatedly dropped by the Bombers, trending towards predictable outcome.
-
To be fair the front 7 received a major overall in 2024 bringing in plenty of new blood, Devin Adams, Ayers, Jones, Woods added to the lineup and Garbutt, Haba, Cole, Fox and Schmeck given more prominent roles, the only non-change was Willie and Jake. That's quite a bit of renewal implemented in a single season, Bighill only played half a season and Gauthier's participation as a starter actually diminished.

O'Shea may have to flip way back through his rolodex till he stumbles upon this smiling face. Jason Hogan might be a cheap in house dark horse candidate, here's his background. A Montréal product, Hogan brings a wealth of experience to the Blue Bombers coaching staff, having most recently served as the assistant offensive coordinator, running backs and wide receiver coach with the Université de Montréal Carabins after originally joining the staff in 2018 as quarterbacks coach. Previous to his days with the Carabins, Hogan spent two years with the Montréal Alouettes, beginning as an offensive quality control coach and then serving as defensive assistant/receivers coach. Hogan was also the program coordinator of the junior varsity and varsity teams at École secondaire Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups as well as offensive coordinator for the varsity team. Hogan also previously worked for the Alouettes as a youth football program coordinator, where he helped organize the Anthony Calvillo Leadership Academy for Quarterbacks as well as serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at College André-Grasset. Hogan was a member of the Université de Laval Rouge et Or’s Vanier Cup win in 2006. -
The offence looked great against Sask. and Edm., not so good against the Argos though. During that 8 game winning streak they beat the Riders, Lions, Elks and Ti-Cats twice each but it was bookended by losses to the Argos.
-
This is a case that illustrates stats don't tell the whole story, can't convince me the Bomber D was physically better than the Argos D, which could be due entirely to their superior D-line play.

Trying to figure where Osborne Stadium was located from the picture below, was it across Osborne St. where the GW Life building is now located or was it up towards The Bay? -
Last season the West looked more like the East Division than the East Division.
