  1. Burke said that Bomber management has identified 3 non-import OLs that they will be targeting this offseason, via trade or free agency. He said one of them has been out all season with a concussion.I'm pretty sure he said is there are 3 NI OL who will be FA's this offseason, plus others who they will pursue through trades. That difference in wording is why I'm pretty certain Mike is right about Tsoumpas being the guy with a concussion that Burke was referring to. He referred to a guy who was out all year with a concussion while he was talking about potential FA's.That's possible, except for the fact that Tsoumpas played 6 games this season. Like I said, you need to stop taking comments so literally. What did you want Burke to say during what is supposed to be a casual radio show. "Well we are targeting a specific young gentleman who missed all but 183 minutes of playing time this year." "He's been out all year" is basically just a general summary comment, it's not meant to be taken as a 100% accurate literal statement. You could be right, but the point you're trying to make is off. No it's not. It's clear you don't like when anyone disagrees with you and you always have to be right (in your mind at least) so we'll leave it at that.

  3. So you protect Matthews even though he's a free agent and has publicly said he's going be trying out for NFL next year? Seems like a wasted protected player to me.
  4. You conveniently left out 'leader' which was in my initial post. Those are all qualities you want your head coach to have.

  6. Neufeld plays tackle and Woodruff plays guard. Plus NI OL depth is never a bad thing to have. We need 7-8 good OLs at a minimum.
  7. Pretty sure he said they'd be targetting these guys through trades and FA.
  8. Tsoumpas played 6 games this season though. Burke said that guy with the concussion was out all year which would suggest its Woodruff. Would love to see Tsoumpas in a Blue and Gold uniform next season though!
  9. Exactly. If we can get Collaros, I'm okay if we get "fleeced".
  10. Best is also under contract with Saskatchewan for the 2014 season.
  11. while i do agree with you, nothing at this point would surprise me.. im not going to get the torches ready until something concrete is done.. but to be honest, dunigan as GM doesnt scare me as much as it should for some reason.. with walters as AGM, I would easily be on board.. khari as HC... thats scary lol Khari as HC wouldn't be too bad IMO if he had two veteran coordinators. Rick Worman, Craig Dickinson and Kavis Reed would be plenty of experience. I agree. Khari's strengths would be that he is a former QB, is very charasmatic, a good ambasador for the team, appears that he'd be a good leader/motivator and players would want to play for him, and it would also excite fans and help with selling tickets. Downside is a lack of experience (he's only been in coaching as an OC and QB coach for 5 years), but like you say, that can be addressed by hiring experienced coordinators.
  12. I'm a little uneasy about it too, but if the 2nd overall pick is what it takes, Walters needs to pull the trigger. Not making that trade is a Mack move. Collaros and 1-2 upgrades on the OL, and the offense could be explosive next season.
  13. If Walters can get Collaros for our 2nd overall pick, I'm okay with that. No way we're getting BLM and Willy wouldn't cost that much, could likely get him for nothing as a FA. Need to stay away from Tate, he's Buck 2.0 but with a bad attitude.
  14. He said one had a concussion all year... That would be Woodruff with Montreal I would think. Woodruff signed a 3 year extension with Montreal in December 2012. Did Burke say trade or sign as a FA? Thought he said trade...
  15. I think with a strong OC and DC, Khari Jones could be a good Head Coach, albeit a bold choice. I think he'd be a good leader and motivator, and thats what the team really needs. The Coordinators can take care of the X's and O's, for the most part.
  16. I'd list them as: 1. Dave Dickenson 2. Chris Jones 3. Marcel Bellefeuille 4. Tom Higgins 5. Khari Jones 6. Kavis Reed 7. Paul Lapolice 8. Doug Berry I'm sure there are others, but those come to mind. Rick Campbell is on that list somewhere, and probably close to the top. He knows the Eskimo Way. Very true, I missed him. Coordinator from BC should be on the list too.

  18. He just signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
  19. Bombers are trying to get their money’s worth out of him. They want to pick his brain on his evaluation of players, in preparation for the expansion draft. Fans might not like it, but that’s actually a smart move to keep him around for a few more weeks. We’re paying him anyways, may as well get our money’s worth. It's not a smart move at all. Why do we care what Tim Burke thinks of our roster if he's not going to be here? It's actually a very smart move. Burke may not be head coach material, but he also isn't an idiot; he was a very well respected defensive coordinaator in the CFL prior to becoming our head coach. As a GM I'd at least want his thoughts on the players, so I could factor that into my decision on who to protect. As part of his evaluation over the next few weeks, he is going to be slotting Bomber players into 3-4 categories: 1) player could start for elite CFL teams, 2) could start/play for middle of the pack CFL teams, 3) could start/play for teams like the Bombers, 4) not starter material/other issues. As a GM I would like to see this information as part of my overall evaluation. Firing Burke right now is the emotional move, but keeping him around for a few more weeks to pick his brain is the smart/strategic move.Except that's not how you evaluate players at all.You can't simply slot players into a "they can start for good teams but not bad teams" type classification. What type of team do you want? What type of players do you want? Can player X fill a role in your defense with their skillset? Do their strengths fit the style of play you're looking for? Are their weaknesses going to be exposed in your schemes? It goes far beyond that, but what you're suggesting is NOT how it works at all. Well that's what Walters/Miller have asked him to do. Guess you know how to run a team better than they do. Until you explain where you've heard that from, I guess there's not really much to discuss. Burke said those were his next steps on the CJOB post game show.

  23. No its not. That what we as fans do. It's fun to speculate on who might be available and a good fit. No need to be so negative all the time and try to ruin someones post before it even gets started...If you don't like the post or idea, then don't reply.
  24. Kavis was just fired by Edmonton. I think he'd be a good defensive coordinator for the Bombers. Thoughts??
