  1. Cortez reportedly made $300k in Hamilton. Burke made $225 last season. Not a huge difference.
  2. I would love Cortez for OC. Would even consider him for HC. Agreed. O'Shea as HC and Cortez OC is the dream.
  3. They are good friends. No job offer.
  4. Tsoumpas. Getting a guy like that would do a hell of a lot of good for the o-line. We should let it be known to him, through the grapevine that we'll give him QB money to come to Winnipeg. OL and QB are the only positions I support overpaying for. They're that important.
  5. Penton & Bob Irving reporting O'Shea still favourite to be Bombers next head coach. I think he'd be perfect for the job. Glad Walters is pushing back on Khari. Hope Miller lets his GM do his job.
  6. With the news that Henoc has NFL workouts lined up, I asked Penton whether he thinks the Bombers will protect him in the expansion draft. Penton figures the Bombers won't protect Henoc. Small risk, but calculated as I see the logic; very unlikely Ottawa would take him even if only small chance he goes to NFL.
  7. Jim Toth saying O'Shea is leading candidate to be Bombers next head coach. What's interesting is that Toth says that if O'Shea gets HC Khari is unlikely to take OC as he wants to be HC.
  8. Weston Dressler is a free agent and he certainly is an impact player. Bombers should throw the bank at him. $200,000 + easy. We would have our number one receiver. I'd rather not break the bank on an american receiver truthfully. Think there's better places that kind of spending could help more. Agreed. If we are going to overpay, do it on the OL and QB.
  9. More likely they start the CFL season a few weeks earlier now too, which would mean more nice weather games.
  10. According to Ed Tait, Tim Burke and Casey Creehan are likely to end up in Toronto to replace loss of Chris Jones. Craig Dickenson likely to end up in Edmonton. Bombers leading HC candidate is now rumored to be Mike O'Shea with Khari Jones as OC.
  11. I don't know if I can throw the ball as inaccurately as he can and look as bad doing it. That's a pretty high level to achieve. Bringing Boltus in is the biggest knock on Bellefeuille. What was Bellefeuille seeing/thinking? My cat can play better QB than Boltus.
  12. If the Bombers don't land Collaros, I'm 99% sure that Burris will be the Bombers starter next season.
  13. I believe trades can occur now until December 12 (one week before the expansion draft starts).
  14. They can't take that risk. Glenn is a safe "for sure" thing so they will take Glenn. Once Glenn is there Collaros won't want to sign there because he wants to start.
  15. I don't get all the Burris hate. He took his team to the Grey Cup! So is Toronto cutting Ray and BC cutting Lulay because they didn't make it to the Cup?
  16. I don't take it that way at all. There isn't a better fit in the entire league, Collaros knows that. He just wants to get paid. Why is Winnipeg a better fit over Ottawa ? Because most people assume Ottawa will take Kevin Glenn in the expansion draft.
  17. Does anyone take this recent article as a sign Collaros doesn't want to be a Bomber? Blueandgold: good point about switching agents. Might make it easier for a new agent to have casual conversations with the Bombers 'in passing'.
  18. How is tampering defined? For example, could the Bombers talk to Collaros agent, and just not directly with Collaros? Or is talking about Collaros to his agent considered tampering?
  19. Why is Glenn to Ottawa such a sure thing? He's a free agent next year so if the Redblacks take him in the expansion draft, all they win is an extra few weeks to "exclusively" negotiate with him. The only QB with starting experience who is signed for 2013 and likely to be exposed is Tate. Everyone else is a free agent. Ottawa's QB1 is going to come through free agency. Anything can happen in free agency. Sometime after the Grey Cup we need to have a QB carousel prediction thread. Glenn is not a free agent. He has one year remaining on his current contract.
  20. You really think so? You think it's not just about Collaros wanting to find out what the market will bear? Ottawa and Winnipeg need starting QBs in 2014. Hamilton, too -- Burris and LeFevour are both free agents. Unless Burris absolutely craps his pants today how does Hamilton not bring the guy back? No this is between Ottawa and Winnipeg and I get the impression that Walters doesn't give a **** about tampering so I think there's a good chance that Collaros knows how much interest there is in Winnipeg for him. Why would he sign with Toronto now? He knows he's not staying there so why sign just so Barker can try and get more from where ever he is going to wind up? Thing with Ottawa is it's pretty much a given they take Kevin Glenn. With Glenn in Ottawa I can't see Collaros signing there. Running through all these scenarios in my head, factoring in Ottawa and Hamilton, one of these 4 QBs will be on the Bombers in 2014: Collaros, Burris, Glenn or Tate.
  21. You really think so? You think it's not just about Collaros wanting to find out what the market will bear? Ottawa and Winnipeg need starting QBs in 2014. Hamilton, too -- Burris and LeFevour are both free agents. True. If Hamilton signed Collaros then I'd assume Bombers would end up with Burris. He'd be a decent consolation prize, as he'd be nothing more than a 1-2 year stopgap, but Collaros remains the prize.
