  1. My son and I were in Calgary a few weeks ago at his Team Alberta football final tryouts held at McMahon Stadium. Wow, I'll state the obvious, way past time for a new stadium.
  2. Put him on the big screen when he's constantly barking at the refs at everything under the sun and chant: Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavoooooooooooooooleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttt Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavoooooooooooooooleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttt Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavoooooooooooooooleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttt Let's make it hard for him to think for game four. I'm not suggesting we're completely innocent of what he and some of his players do but I don't care. I hate the sea of pee. We are Winnipeg.
  3. Chevy's negotiated long term deals with a handful of our guys. If done intelligently and, obviously, within the salary cap, 'handing out' long-term deals doesn't necessarily imply desperation.
  4. I don't mind players wreaking havoc as long as they don't consistently put others players health in jeopardy. If that's how Lemieux wants to carve out a career for himself, go back to Buffalo. If he wants to play an aggressive game and control for reckless abandon effecting other players, welcome sir. We give players penalties for not keeping their sticks under control, the same goes for all other parts of their body, equipment.
  5. Just like we've rid the game predominately of staged fighting, the enforcer role so to speak we should rid the game of cheap shot artists, jerkfaces who think they're doing their job. And I'm not just talking through suspensions. What's happened though is you take from Peter (enforcer) and give to Paul (Cheap shot artists). I read things like PK Subban getting under the skin of the Jets. I'd like to see a parade of guys like him (and any of our guys who think that maybe that's their job crossing the line into recklessness) to the penalty box to allow skill with versus skill and aggression versus aggression (see Buff type play as an example) to determine the outcome of the game. I was a chippy type player when I played and I was penalized for it by either sitting in the penalty box and/or getting clobbered to let me know enough is enough. My guess is these players who embrace that type of style and believe they don't need to adjust at all because it's got them to where they are today struggle with being respected by a majority of their NHL peers both current and former.
  6. no way you drop the Stastny line to third. they are generating numerous chances just not finishing. it will come, look for a break out game from that line tomorrow.
  7. It's unfortunate that the Bruins-Lightning game is interrupting Sportsnet's non-stop speculation of who will be the next Leafs GM. Randy Turner
  8. Blake Wheeler seems to me a bit off with his usual style of play. My guess he's playing with some sort of injury. I'd still take him at 80% though. Also, after losing yesterday, Blake Wheeler also reminds us that we aren't going to win every game to the cup. We just got to make sure we win that last game that gets us that Cup.
  9. Wow what a game. Very hard to breath at times. Lots of yelling (good and bad) at the TV last night. Not the outcome we obviously wanted but there's this calmness that all is still good that is way different from previous year feelings. As much as I love MH, two bonehead plays on his part taking a penalty in the offensive zone while we were pressing hard and negating Copp's go-ahead goal. No way Hendricks needs to interfere with the D man and Goalie. Selfish plays on his part. My opinion on Enstrom is he's playing okay, just brings a different skill set to the table than Morrow. Obviously he is working off the rust by not playing since March and lacks that physical prowess but is very smart with the puck and still can adeptly play the corners. I can see us inserting Morrow back into the lineup before this series is up. Buff manhandling two preds at once was magic. Buff is playing vintage Buff. Without Buff in our lineup, space becomes even more limited for our guys. Loved how Buff grabbed PK Subban to remind PK Subban that he'll need to come to him before going to any of his Jet teammates. I officially have a huge hate on for the Preds. I fell in love more with Paul Statsny after him defending Laine from PK Subban. Loved Copp's 2nd intermission interview with Scott Oake basically telling him that they've hated the Preds all year, it didn't take this playoff series to confirm that. Pekke Rinne is not playing like the best goalie in the league that Jamie Mclennan thinks he is. Flopping around like a fish out of water. I like our chances back in the Peg.
  10. I like this fun fact. Lets beat them in game two and learn from the Bluejackets in coming home up two to zip.
  11. You fell asleep? Do you have a heartbeat? I thought Buff manhandling him behind the net was a joy to watch as well.
  12. Yup, all but one that were nominated are playing for a distant second behind Gallant who should make room on his mantle for it. How do you compete with 'takes first year expansion team to (fill in blank) round of playoffs and ?'
  13. Because they finished with more regular season points.
  14. ...Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart. Donald Trump January 2018
  15. I can only talk for myself, but I wasn't suggesting Morrow is a better player than Enstrom in possibly keeping the lineup as is we had against the Wild. It's more of why try to fix something that isn't broken (2 shutouts in a row albeit a lot because of Helle but this is a team game) and he isn't as physical a player as Morrow and he may be a bit rusty that in the playoffs that we don't have the luxury of slowly getting his game speed up to playoff par. BUT you also try to field the best team possible with the available players, i.e., dressing Enstrom over Morrow, Perreault over Roslo. Awesome problem to have no matter which route you take.
  16. Can't see them sitting Morrow unless Jets get behind in the series, injury or need a puck moving Dman.
  17. As the pursuer or pursuee?
  18. Shocking that was overturned and ruled a good goal. The call on the ice was no goal and should have been confirmed as such. Even Binno looked shocked when it was ruled a good goal. Good on the Av coach to remain calm and keep his team focused on the game (which they did successfully) and not yelling st the refs for the last nine minutes of the game. Now that's coaching.
  19. Tho Trouba isn't playing the best hockey right now. I'd keep Morrow with Buff.
  20. The way to solve this challenge is have our forwards take care of business early. Put the wild out of their misery early in the game taking the pressure off our D.
  21. During the game right after something thats happened to the Wild that they dislike: Boooooooooooooooddddddddddddrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeaaaaaauuuuuuu Boooooooooooooooddddddddddddrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeaaaaaauuuuuuu Boooooooooooooooddddddddddddrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeaaaaaauuuuuuu
  22. Maybe and yes having him at the point has it's advantages on the PP. BUT having a big body (with toughness) like DB in front of Dubynk has it's advantages as well. The less Dubnyk can see the better. This is where I've been very impressed with Statsny, he does this very well and unfortunately got nailed by a point shot in this game.
  23. I actually thought it was cool. He did it respectfully imo.
  24. Wow. I imagine that he sits at the kids table when all the adult play by play guys get together for a social function.
  25. Trouba was one big hot mess last night. Something seems off with him. Helle save on Dumba was spectacular. The more I see Stastny play the more I like him. I wish Blake Wheeler would shoot more. I loved the adjustment in putting Buff up front on the power play. Hope they continue that.
