  1. Holy cow are you guys ready to jump on Ambrosie at the first chance with no solid backing evidence. First, this is a 3DownNation post, and from everything I have read (and everything I have heard from the vast majority of posters here) their credibility is as solid as Qanon lately. Second, this “anonymous source” isn’t quoting anything official or citing an executive position and is basically stating a personal opinion of what they and they themselves think might be feasible. Their supposed cred comes from being “familiar” with the executive level of the league, whatever that means. That list could include any host of journalists who know who the league executives are but has no say in actual league operations. Third, that opinion seems based solely on the state of the Edmonton no-names, as regurgitated to an Edmonton reporter. Since they don’t have a full coaching staff, this source claims that, rather than being behind the 8-ball when all the other 8 franchises are operating as if the season is a go, in fact Edmonton is the “canary in the coal mine” who are not replacing staff because only they see the danger of no season and are cost cutting. As if their lack of staff has everything to do with this hidden agenda to not play, as opposed to Scott Milanovich bailing on his contract when the NFL came a-calling. It is trying to paint the “whatever name the fans vote for, it will be stupid”’s as ahead of the curve rather than behind it, and creates a false narrative of their disorganization as indicative of some inside knowledge over the league shutting down. Fourth, the opinion is not that the league will not proceed, but that in their mind it would be better to wait another year to guarantee full stadiums, a completely new CFLPA contract, and everybody vaccinated. Nothing in that sentiment is wrong. Having all that in place would allow much more stability than the band-aid plan that might come to pass (and which is how every other league is operating right now, before anyone jumps on this as a sign of CFL weakness - all leagues are drowning right now, the CFL just doesn’t have the deep pockets the big 4 do). What the report fails to touch on is what the harm in not playing would be. The article seems to suggest that the fans would be upset but other than that there would be no downside, when the reality is that shuttering another year would do economic harm beyond hurt fan feelings. So this article has a heavy bias towards “not playing is better” and spins it into “may not be feasible this year”, and the crowd here then spins it into “now the league is back-tracking” based on nothing other than a pre-determined dislike of Ambrosie, like it’s completely his fault a bat spread a virus in China. So the season may go, it may not, but this article offers zero evidence either way. And Ambrosie is not blameless for many things in the CFL, but let’s not manufacture outrage based on purely speculative opinion pieces with no credible intel.
  2. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The Dems “negotiated” a deal where McCarthy’s assistant’s statement about the Trump call goes into the record without subpoenaing her. Their fear was that the Republicans would stonewall the confirmation process for Biden’s appointments so they short-circuited this process to supposedly leverage more bipartisanship in that area. The insanity is thinking that the GOP won’t go back on their word and be obstructionist when that comes up later. Like Charlie Brown believing Lucy REALLY REALLY won’t pull away the football this time. GOP may have no morals of conscience, but Dems have no guts or conviction.
  3. Republicans were all set to mail in their “not guilty” votes and sweep the impeachment under the rug. Now with witnesses being called the process will drag out a lot longer. We all know the outcome will be acquittal anyway, so the Dems have one goal- keep the spotlight on this and embarrass the GOP to the point that their acquittal vote is completely indefensible on a common sense level. Personally, I love it. After everything that the Senate did to screw over Obama’s agenda with stonewalling and the hypocrisy of the SCOTUS appointments, this move is a giant “F.U.” And it looks so good on them. Payback is a b*tch. As for Lindsay Graham flip-flipping his vote and “threatening “ 300 witnesses, 3 things: 1) Dems control the Senate and therefore have the numbers to approve or deny any witness, so good luck trying to control the process 2) Thinking that subpoenaing Dems will somehow turn the tables is wishful thinking, at best 3) Thinking you will scare off Dems by saying the process will be lengthened is not going to have the effect you think it will. I would love to see Trump go on Hannity and start spouting the election lie and delve into the Dominion machine fixing. Watching Sean suddenly pull up the legal disclaimer on screen to save his own and Fox’s ass and Trump suddenly flipping out on him would be glorious.
  4. Nothing to see here........ https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/11/politics/gop-senators-trump-impeachment-lawyers/index.html
  5. Shots a bit misleading in the end. Ottawa outshot Winnipeg 15-11 in the 3rd but the Jets carried the play and had all the great chances in the final 20.
  6. Stastny on the PP has gotten the puck movement going much better than last year. All 5 players touched the puck in a 3 second span on that 3rd goal. Beautiful. Jets survived the aggressive Ottawa forecheck in the first and found their space in the second. Sens on their heels after expending their energy in the first.
  7. There will be zero precedent set. If the roles are somehow reversed in the future every Republican senator who votes not guilty now will be the first to line up and say guilty, say that a former President CAN be impeached, that it is constitutional. There is no regard for precedent with them. They proved with their tone in the Clinton impeachment and then their backtracking on Trump 1.0. They proved it by blocking Garland on the basis of “election year” and then fast-tracking Comey-Barrett mid-election voting. The party without power will scream “precedent” and the party with power will say out loud “this is different” and what they mean is “it’s the same except for we have the power to get away with being hypocritical, and that’s the only difference that matters”.
  8. There are no openly gay female Republican senators. Are you thinking of Mary Cheney, Liz’s sister?
  9. Because if Poolman tweaks something or is out of game shape in his first game back and has to sit, Maurice does not want to be down to 5 d-men.
  10. Any inside info or theories on why Cameron Judge has not signed anywhere yet? Figured him to be the crown jewel of free agents this year.
  11. Ambrosie starts modelling scarves, next thing you know, those equality types are going to start wanting female refs!
  12. Ok, it’s been an hour and not one person jumped on my comment and responded with “no, he said respected around the league”. I am extremely disappointed in all of you.
  13. Ok seriously. So far today Brandon has announced that he’s hard because of roster signings, Blueandgold is announcing his preference to abstinence over an unhappy sex life, and JCon just broadcast that he only gets laid every other year or so. Match.com fellas or it’s going to be a long Valentine’s Day for all 3 of you. TMI !!!!!!!!
  14. I hear Troy Westwood is looking for work.
  15. Used horribly? You mean because he actually had to throw the ball? Kind of a requirement for a QB.
  16. I hope they go with “elements” because then you could have all sorts of fun with that. Because like the element hydrogen they are full of hot air, like zirconium they have an overinflated and phony sense of value, and like sulfur they stink.
  17. I think you are trying to be a little too critical of his wording. Were the 2001 Stampeders a dominant team because they got hot in the playoffs when it mattered most? I think a middle ground can be taken. We were good and at times very good in the regular season, but floundered when injuries hit. We upped our game in the playoffs beyond anything we saw in the regular season. I would agree that Hamilton are probable favourites, and we may be favourites in the West, more so because of who Calgary and Saskatchewan have lost. But 2 seasons removed from action, who can really know how any team will perform?
  18. Here is an article about the provisions of the Constitution about impeachment and the precedent for impeaching someone out of office. And as a matter of logic, every single outgoing President between losing the election and Inauguration Day could essentially break the law with reckless abandon and fear no consequence if impeachment were not allowed for someone out of office. That defies all common sense. https://www.justsecurity.org/74226/history-shows-the-senate-can-hold-an-impeachment-trial-after-trump-leaves-office/
  19. But Don Jonas got traded and you still love him, no?
  20. Torts is an idiot. If he really wanted it to “stay in the locker room” then a very public benching in his 4th game there is a dumb way to do it. Even if you don’t get into specifics you’re not exactly keeping it private. Smacks of “handled internally, no issue, next question”. How about coaching your player rather than embarrassing him? Can’t imagine why PLD ever wanted a trade. 🙄
