Considering our dim prospects for finishing the year with a decent record, you'd think O'Shea would load up the linebacking to stop Cornish. We really have two choices for the rest of the season: either play for respect or start auditioning people for next year. This roster juggling does not fit either scenario and appears to be another highly questionable move by O'Shea.

Curious if anyone is selling tickets to fridays game? 2 or 4.
Assuming the boycott by some is on... especially considering its calgary lol
Ticketmaster all out?
Why pay full price?
And people got mad at me when I called Winnipeggers cheap. If it's not on sale not interested! It's the city motto.
Are people in Calgary idiots who actively look for the highest price possible?
That is a distinct possibility.

Danny Barrett wasn't a bad coach but he alienated the media and then the fans when things got rough. As far as O'Shea's butt being saved by Willy getting hurt is concerned, that scenario didn't save Chamblin in Regina and Chamblin didn't make as many big mistakes as O'Shea has. Moreover, if Walters bails, O'Shea has to be a goner.

He's a 600K cap hit, his NFL days are probably over unless he shines up here.
Plus he's at the top of his athletic years, and there are always lots of promising, younger, cheaper prospects.

Only one practice this week. O'Shea wanted the players rested.
The players not buying into a coaches game plan on special teams reflects on players not listening.. Id liked to have seen this weeks ST practice sessions to see what exactly was believed to have gone wrong. The OC is responsible for using Denmark the wrong way.
As the HC, I would expect him to correct that immediately, not let it drag on, we are at game 13 coming up. Also the quote in the paper from the Bomber player calling out the special teams guys for not selling out on those returns. The players clearly aren't buying in to the snake oil being offered to them.
Good thing they will be rested. I can recall how well they played in the game after the bye week. Maybe they can repeat that performance.

****, it was that cheap hit to the head that did it, I hate Montreal, they are and always have been the dirtiest team in the league.
Now, having vented, I was disappointed that in such a lopsided game, we too didn't take liberties, right there tells you there is something missing still from this team.
There are a lot of signals being given by this team that they have very low expectations.

That much emotion, at that age....if anything, it's made me re-evaluate things in my life. Sports wins and losses just do not have that much of an effect on me anymore. I'm terrified of being an old man who gets worked up over sports scores.
It could be worse- imagine being an old fart who doesn't get worked up about anything.

Perhaps there is a definition of competitive that we can agree on: for me, competitive means that the team is no less than .500 over a season and are still in the game at half-time. I could accept "incredibly competitive" as being no less than .500 and being no less than 6 points down at game's end and in a position to win at the end of the third quarter.
-
It appears that with Willy back and everything working, this team is able to flirt with a .500 record, but in its present condition, its about a 5 and 13 group.

What makes you think games aren't reviewed by the CFL. They are and teams submit specific plays to the CFL office for review as well.
If there is such a process, it is either restricted to egregious incidents or at random. The hit on JFG was only one example of deliberate intent that has gone unaddressed.
-
Sucks for JFG - so sick to the teeth of watching un-penalized helmet to helmet in just about every cfl game I've seen this season
All games ought to be reviewed afterwards for evidence of helmet-to-helmet and intent to injure incidents. The CFLPA ought to be pushing for this- it is often marginal players going after the star players and the league needs all the high-profile players it can get.

Do you really think he's referring to O'shea in his quote? He's not, he's referring to the players on the field.. i don't know how you don't get that... looking too far in to things again.. I mean really, he said they knew what Montreal was going to do, That means O'shea actually coached them up properly but they still sucked. That's on the players. It's ridiculous that people read so far in to these quotes, he called out his team mates, and guess what, one of those guys, Jasper Simmons was released today... Dude was dogging it on special teams and paid for it.
What the heck can the coaches do really... they aren't the ones on the field.. This whole boss analogy is ridiculous... cuz if i'm an employee and i keep screwing up, that's not my bosses fault, that's my fault... and eventually if i keep doing it, my boss fires me... kind of like what happened with Simmons.
It's crazy that some fans always look to blame the coaches but can never just say maybe just maybe the talent just isn't good enough out there.
I believe he was referring to the attitude of some of the players and/or their on-field performances and that the coach or coaches are doing nothing about it. If the coaches are not the bosses, who is?

Graig Newman called out his teammates and the coaches today. Lets see if anything comes of it. My guess is that it will be ignored- as Charlie Brown said, " there is no problem so big and so scary that it can't be pretended away from."
Charlie Brown said that? Link please.

That Newman chose to speak out says volumes about how cohesive the team is and how much faith players have in the coaches. Anyone who has worked in a place where some of the people were obviously goofing off will know how corrosive that is. It is the job of management/supervision to thin out the herd of those who are unwilling to earn their keep. If the bosses are not doing their jobs, soon everyone is into "screw-it" mentality. Then the workplace descends to the lowest common denominator.

I am by no means a football maven, but if the ball takes an extra quarter-second to get to the QB, it shouldn't be critical.

When Simmons was signed, we had no guarantees that Wild or Muamba would return, so it was a smart move at the time. Moreover, in his limited playing time, Simmons appeared to play pretty well, so the optimism about him was justified. I would bet he will not be unemployed too long.
-
Walters would be a fool to not take it. He is arguably on thin ice here with little job security and his tenure here depends on the on-field product. That has been pretty poor and also is a reflection of the quality of coaching- which has been a result of his choice of O'Shea as head coach. University jobs are as stable as you can get in this day and age and might even involve a raise, so what's not to like?
-
I love it then. Finally some leadership.

Its not all good news. It means that the issues in the locker room have come to a full boil and we are headed for a full-out crisis if we are not there already. The elephant in the room has stirred.
