  1. ****, it was that cheap hit to the head that did it, I hate Montreal, they are and always have been the dirtiest team in the league.

Now, having vented, I was disappointed that in such a lopsided game, we too didn't take liberties, right there tells you there is something missing still from this team.

There are a lot of signals being given by this team that they have very low expectations.

  2. What makes you think games aren't reviewed by the CFL. They are and teams submit specific plays to the CFL office for review as well.

If there is such a process, it is either restricted to egregious incidents or at random. The hit on JFG was only one example of deliberate intent that has gone unaddressed.

  3. Sucks for JFG - so sick to the teeth of watching un-penalized helmet to helmet in just about every cfl game I've seen this season

All games ought to be reviewed afterwards for evidence of helmet-to-helmet and intent to injure incidents. The CFLPA ought to be pushing for this- it is often marginal players going after the star players and the league needs all the high-profile players it can get.

  4. Do you really think he's referring to O'shea in his quote? He's not, he's referring to the players on the field.. i don't know how you don't get that... looking too far in to things again.. I mean really, he said they knew what Montreal was going to do, That means O'shea actually coached them up properly but they still sucked. That's on the players. It's ridiculous that people read so far in to these quotes, he called out his team mates, and guess what, one of those guys, Jasper Simmons was released today... Dude was dogging it on special teams and paid for it.

What the heck can the coaches do really... they aren't the ones on the field.. This whole boss analogy is ridiculous... cuz if i'm an employee and i keep screwing up, that's not my bosses fault, that's my fault... and eventually if i keep doing it, my boss fires me... kind of like what happened with Simmons.

It's crazy that some fans always look to blame the coaches but can never just say maybe just maybe the talent just isn't good enough out there.

I believe he was referring to the attitude of some of the players and/or their on-field performances and that the coach or coaches are doing nothing about it. If the coaches are not the bosses, who is?

  5. That Newman chose to speak out says volumes about how cohesive the team is and how much faith players have in the coaches. Anyone who has worked in a place where some of the people were obviously goofing off will know how corrosive that is. It is the job of management/supervision to thin out the herd of those who are unwilling to earn their keep. If the bosses are not doing their jobs, soon everyone is into "screw-it" mentality. Then the workplace descends to the lowest common denominator.

  6. Walters would be a fool to not take it. He is arguably on thin ice here with little job security and his tenure here depends on the on-field product. That has been pretty poor and also is a reflection of the quality of coaching- which has been a result of his choice of O'Shea as head coach. University jobs are as stable as you can get in this day and age and might even involve a raise, so what's not to like?

Graig Newman called out his teammates and the coaches today. Lets see if anything comes of it. My guess is that it will be ignored- as Charlie Brown said, " there is no problem so big and so scary that it can't be pretended away from."

    Where did this happen? Source/link?
    Article in the Sun.
I love it then. Finally some leadership.

Its not all good news. It means that the issues in the locker room have come to a full boil and we are headed for a full-out crisis if we are not there already. The elephant in the room has stirred.

  8. No to Taman or Higgins so really... it's down to guys like Murphy McEvoy and the sort. Maybe Walters says no thanks to Guelph

I'm not sure that Walters has made a strong case for his retention. He's been a lot better than Mack was, but saying that is damning him with faint praise. The team may be better than it was upon Mack's firing but it has not translated down to on-the-field performances, and I believe that we've been blown out more often this year than last.

  9. O'Shea has had enough time to demonstrate his skills and judgement and both have been seen as wanting.  I think he has passed the point of no return and cannot redeem himself in the eyes of the team or the fans. Kelly and Burke were so abrasive that I was glad to see them go, but O'Shea's looming departure is just sad. He tried his best but it just wasn't good enough.

    Time to turn the page.

  10. What makes this even sadder was that had O'Shea fired both offensive and defensive coordinators and special teams coach at the end of last year and replaced the offensive coordinator and special teams coach with someone as good as Hall has been with the defence, we would probably not be in this fix. O'Shea's pig-headedness has done him in, or rather his choice of assistants plus his unrewarded loyalty to them.
