  1. Your 3rd QB should be your developmental guy.  The QB who you are grooming to possible take over as the starter in a few years.  It all depends if O'Shea/Bellefeuille think Goltz is that guy.  My bet says Goltz gets cut in TC for a new guy McManus brings in.

I think that Goltz will have to really shine in order to be kept around. He has started enough games and been around long  enough for the new regime to have assessed the video footage as to whether he has any part in the Bomber future.

Can't be going into the season with Willy, Hall and Goltz...

If we do, IMO the season is already over.

Any reason to think Harris would want to come back?

    To enjoy the beautiful weather?

Well his nipples will definitely be hard if he comes here to enjoy our lovely weather.

Am in Calgary now- if it makes anyone feel better, its exactly as cold here as back in the 'Peg. Saw a brass monkey frantically searching in a snow bank.

  4. I happened to be in Regina when the signing was announced on the local radio station. This guy is an interesting player- he apparently has the arm strength of a rubber band, yet he set all kinds of passing and offensive records and was thought highly enough of to be signed by an NFL team and spend a year on a practice roster. He tended to throw a lot of wounded-duck type passes but was successful. Either he had outstanding receivers or is one of those anomalous guys who just find ways to win.

He'll fill in nicely until next season when we sign Andrew Harris

Oooh..the very thought makes my nipples hard.

Ultimate hard nipple thought albeit hockey... Jonathan Toews playing for the Jets.

Come on now, Fantasies have to be theoretically possible.

We must be signing a new QB prospect soon...?

Can't be going into the season with Willy, Hall and Goltz...

    Wanna bet?

No chance we only have those 3 QBs on the roster when the season begins.  Literally zero chance.  They will at the very least bring in a young QB from the States, probably two of them.

What I meant was that there seems to be little chance of another experienced quarterback coming on board.

Oh.  Kels said "QB prospect" so I was rolling with that.

We may see Kevin Glenn here yet, but you're probably right that we don't bring in another experienced arm.

I'm betting Kevin Glenn winds up in La Belle Province- Vancouver maybe.

Why are we losing out on so many players that could fill holes & make us competitive (like McCune if he signs elsewhere) when we are supposedly flush with money? Are we cheaping out again? Other teams can sign these players but we can't. It's always about the money, it seems. We give a "final offer" & sit back & someone signs a player or a coach we want right in front of our frigging noses. I'm beginning to think things haven't changed & the excuses will be starting real soon. Well, they already have... What a crappy off season.

O'Shea is familiar with McCune, and if he's not signing him, there's probably a good reason. I don't know if he doesn't want to come here, is asking more than he's worth (no one else has signed him either) , or they're just in the process of working out some minor contract details, but on this one, I'm giving bombers the benefit of the doubt. Who knows, maybe he's saving the cap space for Ted Laurent or Glenn. Think positively!

I'm not being facetious, but do you think Glenn would be a good fit here with all the bad history? I would think that as soon as he had one bad game or even a few bad plays the fans would be calling for his head and saying unkind things about him and Walters?

  9.

You do realize there's 8 other teams in the league, right? If we trade away spare parts, it guarantees we GET him.

What makes you think he automatically signs with the Bombers if Ottawa cuts him?

No really, I thought there was only 2 CFL Teams...........................

I don't want Glenn here, I actually think it's unlikely for him to sign here, but why waste assets on him when we could either pick him up if he's released or if he doesn't want to come here waste picks and players for nothing. At the same time, what other team would want Glenn ? maybe Montreal and/or Edmonton, but I don't see BC going after him, nor Calgary, Saskatchewan, Toronto, Hamilton.

Why wouldn't bc go for him? He's more reliable then Buck.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Glenn end up in either Montreal (my first bet) or Vancouver. Glenn would be a good fit into Montreal's quick-read offense with a decent O-line and a good chance for another shot at the Grey Cup. Vancouver's biggest asset is the lack of cold weather. Either way, the two GMs involved will try to wait out Ottawa to get the best deal for Glenn- they may get him for nothing or next to nothing.

  10. Signing Ford would be the starting point.

He will be the one to beat out as our RB/KR.

And that's fine. But if we can outSheet him or outGable him, with another RB would could literally run away with the position, then we must have the will to do so.

If Walters' performance to date is any indication, darned few players are going to go into camp with the assumption that they are a lock. As many here have pointed out, good RBs are plentiful and relatively cheap. I would love it if Florida Dan could scare up another Charles Roberts- that would sure take a lot of pressure off both our QB and the O-line, not to mention the receivers.

  11.

Any scouting reports on how he performs at pass blocking?

I wouldn't expect to find any accurate or relevant scouting reports, this guy is 27 years old and hasn't played meaningful football in almost 7 years. I'm not even 100% convinced that he's signed a contract.

So where has he been playing?  I'm a little concerned about a 27 yr old who hasn't played meaningful football in 7 years.

He does look to be a long shot to make the team, but all we can do is hope that the scouting saw something in him worth a longer look. John Madden said that every year when he was in the NFL his team would bring in an interesting long shot.

  12.

Good signing for training camp if nothing else. I just hope Alexander still has a year or two in him.

I don't see why he wouldn't have multiple years left.  He's only 28 you know.

Hmmm... he's been around so long, I assumed he was at or past 30. Typically, most athletes physically peak at ages 26-29, so if his head is still in the game, he ought to fit in well here. Don't remember him as a solid tackler, though.

  13.

I hated playing on terribly maintained grass fields worse than anything though, the U of M field was the absolute worst.  Basically just a mud patch.

I don't care how muddy it was, if it didn't have a manhole in the middle of the field it can't be the absolute worst.

Come now- we are in a new millennium. It's called a "personhole".

  14. Popp may have lucked out in having Calvillo as his QB for so many years, but under his command, the Alouettes were competitive almost every year. For the most part, he was very good at finding talent and hiring good coaches. There ought to be several GM/Assistant GM NFL positions coming up,and the CFL can't compete with NFL salaries.
