  1. I do not know how much benefit the third bye week is to players, but I would be in favour of one less bye week and moving the Grey Cup up one week.
  2. It could also be named for a popular short-sleeved knit shirt.
  3. Looked to be a horrific injury. Can't blame him- in a few years that ankle will be arthritic as heck.
  4. Touche' Spuds. Now lets see how that turns out. When Chamblin was HC of the Riders, all was well when the team was winning, but his rants in the locker room were apparently epic and his public one not much less so. But he will be in Toronto, so that sort of thing would probably never be noticed.
  5. This debate over who to hang is unresolvable in this forum. We do not know and will probably never know who called what play, and who screwed up . The evidence is in the game film and the logs of the OC, and we will not see those. Part of O'Shea's modus operandi is to trot out platitudes and not tell it like it was. There is the need to not throw a given player or players under the bus, but the assembled faithful would feel a lot more involved if we had a sense of what was really going on and how it was going to be addressed. All we have is speculation and that gets old real fast.
  6. Ryckman did that to a lot of Calgary businesses and people.
  7. They could be referred to as "Montezuma's revenge".
  8. We won't hold that against him- we're used to that sort of thing here.
  9. Jovon was also much more bombastic and thus got a lot of media attention, so that made him a lot more prominent. Hefney just went about his business.
  10. He was epically terrible head coach/GM, but a good special teams coordinator.
  11. Now you're channeling my wife. No fair.
  12. And we already have a park in St. Norbert named after him.
  13. I wasn't aware that knee injuries cause quarterbacks to repeatedly toss the ball to opposing players. The league and coaches need to be alerted.
  14. And in Nichols' case, again and again. Those gaffes in the games against the Riders may have been the worst in two consecutive games by ant QB in Bomber livery I can recall seeing. I do not think they can be ascribed to any physical cause, either.
  15. Sounds like he would not get a sniff from the NFL, but would do well here if he has the ability to adapt to the CFL game. A true dark horse.
  16. Fans have notoriously short memories, so if the team does well out of the gate, all will be forgiven. Nichols does not have to be an all-star but if he repeats his play of this year, it will either of two things: either he needs to be replaced or the rest of the offence will have to play light out to compensate.
  17. I would like to suggest that we have a "Swiss army knife" category for players who played multiple positions very well.
  18. As a footnote to Brian Herosian, he and his late wife had a special needs son (Ben) and one of the reasons Brian chose to retire was to look after him. Brian did remarry and have two more kids. One of the reasons I recall him so vividly is that Brian's late wife had the same first name as mine and we had driven that same road a few days before.
  19. If history is any indicator, Nichols will likely be about the same as this year- for better or worse. The only real question is what O'Shea will do about that, if anything.
  20. According to my admittedly porous memory, Herosian was most effective as a safety.
  21. 2019 will give O'Shea a fresh start, and it will be up to him to prove that he is not blindly loyal and stubborn to a fault. If he does well, all will be forgiven. If the team stumbles for the same reasons as seasons past, all of the wolves will howl.
  22. And with most of their receivers on the DL, most of us thought the Stamps would be in trouble this season past. It will be interesting to watch how Huffer and Co. deal with this.
