https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/here-are-7-stunning-details-from-a-new-report-about-john-boltons-explosive-book/ The book confirms House testimony that Mr. Bolton was wary all along of the president’s actions with regard to Ukraine and that Mr. Trump explicitly linked the security aid to investigations involving Mr. Biden and Hillary Clinton. On Aug. 20, Mr. Bolton writes, Mr. Trump “said he wasn’t in favor of sending them anything until all the Russia-investigation materials related to Clinton and Biden had been turned over.” Mr. Bolton writes that he, Mr. Pompeo and Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper tried eight to 10 times to get Mr. Trump to release the aid. 2. Bolton says that similar incidents occurred with Turkey and China. “The pattern looked like obstruction of justice as a way of life, which we couldn’t accept,” Bolton wrote. He blames the Democrats for impeaching Trump on grounds that were far too narrow and solely focused on Ukraine, but this complaint is deeply ironic given Bolton’s refusal to testify. 3. Trump tried to get China to help him win re-election, the book claims. Bolton wrote that “the president overtly linked policy to his own political fortunes as he asked [Chinese President] Xi to buy a lot of American agricultural products to help him win farm states in this year’s election. Mr. Trump, he writes, was ‘pleading with Xi to ensure he’d win. He stressed the importance of farmers, and increased Chinese purchases of soybeans and wheat in the electoral outcome.'” 4. Trump reportedly did not know Britain is a nuclear power. This is a basic fact about world politics, and yet the president seems to have no clue what’s going on. 5. Trump reportedly asked if Finland is a part of Russia. The report doesn’t say who Trump asked. Hopefully, it wasn’t the Finns. Or the Russians. 6. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reportedly dismissed Trump’s overtures to North Korea as useless. During Mr. Trump’s 2018 meeting with North Korea’s leader, according to the book, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slipped Mr. Bolton a note disparaging the president, saying, “He is so full of ****.” A month later, Mr. Bolton writes, Mr. Pompeo dismissed the president’s North Korea diplomacy, declaring that there was “zero probability of success.” 7. Bolton says he reported cases of Trump’s potential abuses of power to Attorney General Bill Barr. It’s not clear if anything ever came of these reports.

The book is already out there and Trump's neice is going to release a tell-all book in July which is apparently scathingly critical of Trump. At that point, Trump is either going to stroke out or go full-bore nutso.

Conservatives Panic Over Fake Antifa Threat to Blow Up the Alamo The sources for the alleged threat are a bunch of random tweets, some of which make no sense chronologically. But it became a thing nonetheless. Dozens of Texas law enforcement officers squared up at the Alamo on Saturday night for an action Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush called a “show of force.” They were there to defend the icon of the Texas Revolution from nebulous threats that were running rampant on pro-Trump social media. The danger, according to Bush, was an attack from left-wing “antifa” groups. Ahead of the feared attack, he put out a statement claiming that he was monitoring “social media posts and rumors” about protesters’ plans for the Alamo. https://www.thedailybeast.com/conservatives-panic-over-fake-antifa-threat-to-blow-up-the-alamo?ref=home

Long overdue.

Doesn't need to go very fast, either.

They are too stoopid to realize that Trump is a sinking ship that will pull anyone close to him down into his morass.

Dr. Fauci delivers a disturbing revelation about the US’ pandemic infrastructure at the beginning of COVID-19 Back in February, the U.S. surgeon general sent out a tweet telling Americans to “STOP BUYING MASKS! They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!” This flies in the face of the CDC’s insistence, less than two months later that Americans should consider wearing, at the very least, cloth masks when interacting out in public. Top infectious disease specialist Dr. Anthony Fauci sat down for an interview with The Street on Friday to explain what was going on in those early months, when government professionals, under the White House direction, began to give out what is clearly incorrect medical information about masks and their function to the general public. It turns out, our country’s lack of preparation for this pandemic, mixed in with our country’s completely incompetent and narcissistic leadership, meant that officials like Fauci felt compelled to tell half truths as damage control. https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/dr-fauci-delivers-a-disturbing-revelation-about-the-us-pandemic-infrastructure-at-the-beginning-of-covid-19/

Texas police fact-check Tucker Carlson’s ‘gross mischaracterization’ of Black Lives Matter protest Fox News host Tucker McNair Swanson Carlson kicked off his primetime program Monday with a monologue about a protest in Texas, which was so ridded with inaccuracies that the Fort Worth Police Department felt compelled to issue its own fact-check. In a lengthy diatribe, Carlson conceded that Black Lives Matter was more popular than President Donald Trump by 20 points and claimed that the mantra was “the entire premise behind our founding documents.” However, those documents literally said black lives mattered three-fifths as much as those of landowners who were free, male and white. https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/texas-police-fact-check-tucker-carlsons-gross-mischaracterization-of-black-lives-matter-protest/

Those countries are not incredibly rich. Norway was smart enough to invest the oil revenues while keeping taxes relatively high. The USA leads the world in personal incomes, but that has not translated into happiness.

The Far Right Is Stirring Up Violence at Seattle’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone On Monday, people associated with far-right groups like the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer entered the CHAZ, beating at least one man on camera nearby. After a week of lusting for conflict in a six-block activist zone in Seattle, far-right figures went and made their own trouble. Seattle’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone—or CHAZ, although some newer stylings refer to it as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP—is a small protest area that emerged last week, after police vacated a nearby precinct and city leaders agreed to leave the streets open for Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Almost immediately, figures on the right looked for evidence that the loosely organized protest area was a den of violence and criminality, with President Donald Trump tweeting threats to send in law enforcement and Fox News editing a picture of a gunman into otherwise-nonthreatening images from the area. Then, on Monday, people associated with far-right groups like the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer entered the CHAZ, beating at least one man on camera nearby. https://www.thedailybeast.com/seattle-capitol-hill-autonomous-zone-visited-by-violent-proud-boys?ref=home

A man tied to the far-right Boogaloo movement is accused of killing 2 officers amidst Black Lives Matter protests In Northern California, a man with alleged ties to the far-right Boogaloo movement is facing murder charges in connection with the shootings of two law enforcement officers: Damon Gutzwiller, a sergeant in the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s office, and David Patrick Underwood, a 53-year-old federal security officer. On May 29, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, Underwood was guarding the federal building in Oakland when a drive-by shooting occurred. Steven Carrillo, a U.S. Air Force sergeant, is accused of the shooting, and Robert Justus is alleged to be his accomplice. Gutzwiller was killed in a separate shootout in Ben Lomond, California. https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/a-man-tied-to-the-far-right-boogaloo-movement-is-accused-of-killing-2-officers-amidst-black-lives-matter-protests/

Trump Claims COVID-19 Will Go Away And That An AIDS Vaccine Exists. It Doesn’t. In an address about an executive order on police reform, the president made erroneous claims about both the coronavirus and an "AIDS vaccine." President Donald Trump went off-topic during an address outside the White House on police reform Tuesday, declaring that the coronavirus pandemic will go away without a vaccine and that scientists have “come up with the AIDS vaccine.” At present, there is no scientific indication that coronavirus will go away if a vaccine is not developed and no AIDS vaccine exists. https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/trump-coronavirus-aids-vaccine_n_5ee8fb37c5b6fb0e3d051e7d?ri18n=true (Trump continues to live in Fantasyland)

Fox News Stars Push Shake Shack Cop Poisoning Claim Even After NYPD Debunked It The NYPD said a “thorough” investigation found no criminality, but that hasn’t stopped several Fox News personalities from continuing to push an anti-cop murder narrative online. Several Fox News stars have continued to peddle the claim that Shake Shack employees “intentionally poisoned” the milkshakes of three New York police officers, even after the New York Police Department found there was “no criminality” by employees. Late Monday evening, several police unions claimed the officers had been briefly hospitalized after noticing a substance in their drinks, suggesting that bleach was deliberately placed in the shakes by employees due to the currently tense national mood around policing. The Detectives' Endowment Association declared the officers were “intentionally poisoned” while the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association fired off a breathless statement claiming its members were under attack. “When NYC police officers cannot even take meal without coming under attack, it is clear that environment in which we work has deteriorated to a critical level,” the PBA’s official account tweeted. “We cannot afford to let our guard down for even a moment.” The story was quickly picked up by multiple news outlets overnight, with many headlines based largely on the police unions’ narrative. Fox News @ Night ran a news segment on the alleged poisoning, complete with coverage from the scene, pointing out it was an evolving report. Noting that the unions framed this as a “blatant attack” on the officers, reporter Alex Hogan wrapped up her report by pointing out the cops were expected to be fine but that this is a “very scary situation for all of them.” “Please let us know as you get more facts and information on that,” anchor Shannon Bream replied. Conservative media personalities called for the Shake Shack employees to be charged with attempted murder and tied the incident directly to widespread protests stemming from the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd. Early Tuesday morning, however, NYPD Detective Chief Rodney Harrison released a statement that, after a “thorough” investigation, the department determined that there was no criminality. Investigators believe that a cleaning solution hadn’t been fully cleared from the shake machine, causing some to be included in the officers’ drinks. (The credibilty gap continues to widen between Fox news, police, and the truth)

Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas See Record Number of New Coronavirus Cases Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas reported record numbers of new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. Arizona saw an increase of 2,392 cases since Monday, while Florida saw a bump of 2,783 new cases, Oklahoma reported 228 new cases and Texas had 2,622 new cases. Texas, following another concerning trend, has reported a record number of hospitalizations for the fourth straight day Tuesday, marking 2,326 hospitalized coronavirus patients in the state. The upward case trend across several states comes as all 50 states work to ease restrictions. Florida crossed the 80,000 case mark Tuesday, while Arizona’s weekly average of daily cases has nearly tripled compared to two weeks ago. President Donald Trump is set to host a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this week, despite the spike in cases. Vice President Mike Pence lied about Oklahoma’s coronavirus data on Tuesday and said that the campaign will be taking some safety precautions, including temperature checks. https://www.thedailybeast.com/arizona-florida-oklahoma-see-record-number-of-new-coronavirus-cases

Prosecutor who quit Roger Stone case because of Trump and Barr’s interference to testify in House Judiciary hearing S.J. Zelinsky was among the U.S. Department of Justice prosecutors who quit the Roger Stone case in February in response to interference from President Donald Trump. And Zelinsky, according to New York Times reporters Mattathias Schwartz and Charlie Savage, has agreed to testify about Stone’s case and interference from Trump and Attorney General William Barr next week on Wednesday, June 24 before the House Judiciary Committee. House Democrats subpoenaed Zelinsky and another DOJ official, John W. Elias, who has also agreed to testify at the hearing. But one person who has refused to testify is Barr, and Rep. Jerrold Nadler — the New York Democrat who chairs the House Judiciary Committee — slammed him for it in an official statement. https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/prosecutor-who-quit-roger-stone-case-because-of-trump-and-barrs-interference-to-testify-in-house-judiciary-hearing/

I wish that TSN would rerun the good games from last season. Last week, I watched the Alouette/TigerCat game. It was as dull as dishwater, but.....I enjoyed it in spite of myself. -

Six Michigan Police Personnel on Leave After Woman’s Mysterious Death in Custody Six public safety personnel at the Harper Woods Police Department have been placed on leave after a Michigan woman died after falling ill in police custody. Priscilla Slater was arrested on an unspecified drug charge on June 9 while police were responding to reports of shots being fired at a Harper Woods hotel. Slater died the next morning, but police have not said how she perished or for what she was arrested. An attorney for Slater’s family, Geoffrey Fieger, argued that the charges do not matter, only what caused Slater to die in police custody. “She had to be exhibiting (symptoms) that would have required immediate medical care, and she didn’t get it,” Fieger said. Autopsy results have not yet been made available. https://www.thedailybeast.com/six-michigan-police-personnel-on-leave-after-womans-mysterious-death-in-custody

Iowa Football Coach Accused of Racism Gets $1.1M Buyout University of Iowa A University of Iowa football coach accused of racist behavior is getting a $1.1 million buyout. Chris Doyle, a Hawkeyes strength coach, was placed on leave June 6 amid allegations he disparaged and bullied Black players, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported. On Monday, the school reached an agreement with Doyle to step down in exchange for two payments of $556,249.50. Doyle, who was with the Hawkeyes for 21 years, took to Twitter last week to defend himself, writing that “at no time have I ever crossed the line of unethical behavior or bias based on race. I do not make racists [sic] comments and I don’t tolerate people that do.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/university-of-iowa-football-strength-coach-chris-doyle-gets-dollar11m-buyout-after-being-accused-of-racism?ref=home
