  1. It's all about money. Some described a lawyer as someone who holds your coat while you and someone else fight.........and then keeps the coat.
  2. Good thing they found out before they buried her.

  4. 1 In 2 Canadians Broke COVID-19 Rules Over The Holidays, Poll Suggests. OTTAWA — A new survey suggests nearly half of Canadians visited with family or friends over the winter holiday period. The poll by Léger and the Association for Canadian Studies found 48 per cent of those surveyed visited with people outside their households, compared to 52 per cent who said they did not. Public health officials had pleaded with Canadians to sharply limit their contacts during the holidays to avoid massive spikes in COVID-19 cases. But it appears something gave for Canadians, said Léger vice-president Christian Bourque. “Usually, we Canadians are sort of much more, I would say, disciplined when it comes to going by what governments are recommending in terms of our behaviour, but over the holidays, apparently, it was sort of tougher on Canadians,” he said. Of those who did visit with friends or family outside their homes, 34 per cent did once, 12 per cent did two or three times, and two per cent did it often. -Canadian Press
  5. Steroids will do that.
  6. Are you intimating that she was answerable to the unwashed rabble?
  7. Yup. And he is only one of lunatics that Trump has created and nurtured.
  8. This will be the first year that I will be unable to spend the winter in Costa Rica due to COVID. All the other winters I didn't go because I couldn't afford to.
  9. AHA! So she is not an angel again.
  10. When Trump was given a pass on the Ukraine scandal, there was an almost universal consensus that it would give him carte blanche to do what ever he wanted. And he has.
  11. CRAP! Experts fear a new South African strain of COVID might be resistant to the vaccines1 Some medical experts have been expressing confidence that the COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer and others will be effective against a new, highly contagious COVID-19 variant that has been slamming the United Kingdom. But U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock has a dire warning about a COVID-19 variant that has been spreading in coastal areas of South Africa. That variant, according to Hancock, might be resistant to the vaccines. Hancock told BBC Radio, "I'm incredibly worried about the South African variant. This is a very, very significant problem…. It's even more of a problem than the U.K. new variant." John Bell, an immunologist at Oxford University in the U.K., is worried as well. Bell helped develop AstraZeneca and Oxford's COVID-19 vaccine, and according to Bell, there is a "big question" mark over whether or not that vaccine and others will protect against the South African variant. CBS News' Sarah Carter reports that Bell said it was "unlikely" that the South African variant would render the vaccines from AstraZeneca/Oxford and others ineffective, but he did say that there might need to be adjustments so that the vaccines will be as effective as possible against that variant. Oxford Professor Shabir Madhi, who worked on the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, told CBS News that more than 13 different COVID-19 variants have been identified in South Africa since the pandemic began — and the new one, 501.V2, is by far the most disturbing mutation he has seen.
  12. All it takes is one zealot with an automatic weapon or explosives and willing to become a martyr. If you think this is unlikely, look at all the adulation the Wisconsin shooter got.

  15. Between the paleolithic Electoral College, gerrymandering and voter suppression, it makes the claim of America being a democracy a sham. If the Democrats do not take steps to reverse this, that would make them cowards and weaklings.
  16. A double digit count would have been nice but unexpected. Not much higher than before, which is as good as we can expect for the next few days.
  17. Interesting since there are indications that is where Trump will flee to a day or two before Biden is installed as president. The coward flees the scene of the disaster he has created, and maybe to avoid a summons.
  18. Stupidity and disregard for the welfare of others is all too common in some circles.
  19. Apparently Raffensperger ducked 18 calls from Trump before accepting (and recording) the call. I would imagine that Trump's fury knows no bounds and I would not want to be within a couple hundred meters of him these days. However, if this is the stupidest thing you think he will do, you are wrong. I imagine that Marlon Perkins is hovering nearby.
  20. Did Trump violate state and federal laws by trying to bully Georgia officials into changing election results? The Washington Post has obtained a copy of a recording in which President Donald Trump, on January 2, can be heard trying to bully and coerce Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger into overturning his defeat in the Peach State. Raffensperger, however, wouldn't budge: the conservative Republican, during the phone conversation, maintained that President-elect Joe Biden won Georgia fair and square. Conservative opinion writer Jennifer Rubin examines the legal ramifications of Trump's actions in her Post column and outlines some ways in which Trump might have committed "extortion" and other "criminal" acts on January 2. Rubin explains, "In the call, Trump asked Raffensperger to change the certified vote that was subject to multiple recounts: 'So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.' In fact, he threatened him." The Never Trump columnist adds that Trump was "sounding like a mobster as he often does" during the conversation and went on to tell Raffensperger, "You have a big election coming up, and because of what you've done to the president — you know, the people of Georgia know that this was a scam.'" Rubin stresses that "pressuring a campaign official to change the vote tally is a federal offense," and she notes what former Justice Department Inspector General Michael R. Bromwich had to say on the subject on Twitter. Rubin also notes that "threatening Raffensperger with criminal consequences is also arguably extortion" and quotes Title 18, Section 875 of the U.S. Code, which says, "Whoever, with intent to extort from any person, firm, association, or corporation, any money or other thing of value, transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to injure the property or reputation of the addressee or of another or the reputation of a deceased person or any threat to accuse the addressee or any other person of a crime, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both." Rubin adds that "alternatively," Raffensperger "might investigate and bring applicable charges under state law" — which "would have one clear advantage: Trump cannot receive a federal pardon for state crimes." "There must be a response to a president who exploits his office for the purpose of overthrowing an election," Rubin stresses. "The evidence is on tape. The next attorney general should move forward, if for no other reason, to deter further attempts at such reprehensible conduct. I would suggest impeachment as well, which could include a ban on holding office in the future, but we know already Republicans will defend anything Trump does." 23. 10 former Pentagon chiefs issue extraordinary warning to Trump. Former defence secretaries question Trump's willingness to peacefully relinquish power The Associated Press · Posted: Jan 04, 2021 2:30 AM ET | Last Updated: 3 hours ago The former Pentagon chiefs warned against use of the military in any effort to change the election's outcome. (Tom Brenner/Reuters) In an extraordinary rebuke of U.S. President Donald Trump, all 10 living former secretaries of defence are cautioning against any move to involve the military in pursuing claims of election fraud, arguing that it would take the country into "dangerous, unlawful and unconstitutional territory." The 10 men, both Democrats and Republicans, signed on to an opinion article published Sunday in The Washington Post that implicitly questioned Trump's willingness to follow his constitutional duty to peacefully relinquish power on Jan. 20. Following the Nov. 3 election and subsequent recounts in some states, as well as unsuccessful court challenges, the outcome is clear, they wrote, while not specifying Trump in the article. "The time for questioning the results has passed; the time for the formal counting of the electoral college votes, as prescribed in the constitution and statute, has arrived," they wrote. The former Pentagon chiefs warned against use of the military in any effort to change the outcome. (If anyone has any doubt remaining about Trump's willingness to use the US military in a coup, these people do not)

  25. Mary Trump, Donald Trump's niece and a clinical psychologist spoke yesterday about her uncle's mindset: Dr. Mary Trump, who is Donald Trump's niece and also a clinical psychologist, has publicly predicted Donald Trump's increasingly dangerous, aberrant and delusional behavior. Her bestselling book "Too Much and Never Enough" chronicles how her uncle came to be the man he is today, and the dire, almost existential threat that he represents to the United States and the world. In this new conversation with Salon, Mary Trump warns that Donald Trump will only become more dangerous as Inauguration Day approaches and he faces the last days of his presidency. She also suggests that Donald Trump is experiencing a severe psychological crisis because of his deeply pathological fear of "losing," and discusses why he seems so indifferent to the death and suffering caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and how he has a deep contempt for his own followers. In conclusion, Mary Trump issues a warning: There is no limit to the havoc and destruction her uncle is willing to cause in these final weeks before he is forced from office.
