  1. I understand that Ukraine has asked or will ask the International Court in the Hague to seize all Russian foreign reserves (private and government) and hold them in anticipation of Ukraine petitioning the Court to award hundreds of billions in damages to Ukraine for rebuilding.
  2. Apparently so. The rush previews were so bad that studio execs went into a complete panic. Shooting wound up last March and it was in post-production so almost all the entire money is lost. I have no doubt that a boot leg version will eventually surface. The net is wonderful for that sort of thing.
  3. More proof that God has a sense of humour.
  4. It seems to me that the receivers who run crisp routes and have good hands last longer than the speed merchants.
  5. And you didn't jump at the chance? You fool! Those kind of offers do not come every day!
  6. Ukrainian heavy artillery has damaged the bridges of Kherson so that no heavy vehicles like tanks, APC's mobile artillery and the like so that the only retreat for Russian forces in the looming Ukrainian assault will have to be on foot. Very worrisome for the occupying Russian troops.
  7. The Sleeman story is an interesting one. The Sleemans migrated to the US of A in colonial times and for a time, make a hansom living putting up fake lighthouse light at night on the east coast to lure ships onto the rocks and then pillaging them. Eventually, things got to be too hot for them to stay and continue to ply their trade, so they fled to Ontario. Having no trade experience among them, they decided to brew beer as it was the easiest way to earn a living. The rest is history as they became respectable.
  8. Disagree. Manny Arcenaux being able to catch on in Deadmonton is an embarrassing example of the poor talent in the league in several teams. Burnham is still a legit threat even if he is not as fast as he used to be.
  9. Putin is desperate to find a way to "win" this war or salvage some kind of victory, and it is not happening. At this point, they, according to reliable reports have lost over 40,000 dead and literally billions of dollars/rubles of ordnance and the full impact of the western armaments is just beginning to be felt. The Russian military has called up former soldiers who are in their 60;s, sent "soldiers" into battle with a week or less of training (some do not know how to reload their guns), brought in the Wagner group (openly Nazi complete with tattoos) and mercenaries from Chechnya and anywhere they can find them. The Ukrainian forces appear to be recapturing one or two villages every day and the ultimate prize is the city of Kherson which is strategically important. The Russian fleet in the Black Sea have retreated to about 200 km away from Ukrainian shores and the Ukrainian navy will soon take delivery of several guided missile frigates. And in the devastated city of Mariupol, Ukrainian partisans are harassing and killing Russian troops in urban guerilla warfare. The sanctions have devastated the Russian economy and all this reminds me of a line from Dr. Zhivago, "Germans underestimated Russian capacity for suffering"
  10. Because 'Murica.
  11. And the current Riders are the anal sphincter of the CFL.
  12. Something tells me that Trevor Harris' back problems are gonna get worse soon.
  13. Mancuso's CV described him as an interesting prospect and I am mildly surprised they kept Prokop who has not shown a lot- not even all that good at short yardage plunges. Oh well, that is probably why I wasn't offer the position of Director of Scouting.
  14. Ooooh.... a Ride fan. You have my condolences. Seriously, I feel for the rational Rider fans who have to countenance the steaming pile of excrement that the Rider team and organization have created. We Bomber fans have had a taste of that in the Sleepy Joe era but it pales in comparison.
  15. No problem. A belt sander will take all that off in short order.
  16. Generally, these are people whose lives are drab and lacking success in any measure, so they look to find someone to blame other than themselves. Its a variation of the "If it wasn't for you, I could" game.
  17. Apparently Gene Rodenberry sexually harassed her endlessly and that was the reason she considered quitting.
  18. Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.
  19. QAnon ‘Queen of Canada’ Wants Some American Subjects A QAnon leader whose followers believe she’s the “Queen of Canada” has now set her sights on the United States, urging her followers to enforce her dangerous “decrees” in America. For people outside of the pro-Trump QAnon conspiracy theory, Romana Didulo is just another Canadian citizen. But for her supporters, she’s a monarch ordained by Q and the American military to rule over Canada and, ultimately, the world. After being endorsed by other QAnon promoters, Didulo managed to amass a following, and is currently touring Canada in a fleet of RVs to meet with her supporters. Now, though, Didulo’s ambitions seem to have grown. In July, she started telling her more than 60,000 followers on the messaging app Telegram about the establishment of the “Kingdom of America,” handing out royal “titles” to Americans who promised to promote her reign there and appointing a new United States “commander-in-chief,” a man named David Carlson. While Didulo’s ideas are ridiculous, they’ve already had a real-world effect on Canada. When Didulo told her fans that she had abolished Canada’s income tax, some stopped paying taxes to the Canadian government. Because Didulo issued a “decree” announcing that her supporters could now pay their utility bills with “IOUs” backed by her bogus government, her supporters have started losing electricity and water in their homes. Apparently PT Barnum was among the authors of the report.
  20. If there was a potentially better deal out there, I have to believe that the CFL would have taken it. Since CTV owns TSN, that is not an option, which leaves CBC which has been systematically dismantled over the past 20-30 years under Conservative regimes. We can bewail circumstances but they are what they are.
  21. I realize your comment was tongue in cheek, but to me it looked like Ottawa had schemed for Harris and pretty much smothered him every time he had the ball. I would have thought Harris would have been used as a receiver more often and he is a darned good one. Would have opened up more options for the Argos.
  22. The indifference to such derelictions of duty on the part of American voters is more proof that their taste for democracy is waning. From here it is a short step to a dictatorship that will masquerade as the solution to all problems. Between Russian interference, fundamentalist block voting, neo-Nazi agitation and Qanon hysteria, American faith in their political systems is at an all-time low.
