  1. Told you there was never any fear of losing Lawler unless NFL came calling
  2. Well I know the Bombers want Lucky back, and I know that if NFL doesn't pan out..which I don't think it will he wants to be back in Winnipeg in a bad way. He has been sadly black listed down there, politics rule and that dog knapping fiasco and all that went with takes any shots he had away especially now being 29 before the NFL season starts and in most eyes down there still a project who needs to prove worth..shitty for him...Great for us...and him too but not as profitable
  3. Hughes will never end up here...no need...especially at his age. Obviously wants out of that god forsaken place, has probably told his agent peddle my arse all over the league. If they lose him, Judge, Soli, and already released Evans..that defence will be putrid...the fact they have re-signed all their starting DB's who were highly overated as it was last year is scary enough for a Sask fan....They gonna have to hope for Fajita to put op 30+points a game just to have a chance, and that won't be happening...you will see limited succeeds by him this year
  4. we also have 2 guys I really high on Mekale and Stewart, and Ross could be a dark horse Also if Whitehead isn't picked up by NFL...He will be back and if used right will be the break-out start this year, Mix in Adams, Woli, Bailey, Demski to whomever makes the squad we will be fine...all big name guys started out as "who dats"
  5. I don't know where this Lawler to Ott comes from...Cause of lapo?...highly doubt that. Lawler wasn't used like he should have been in Lapo's "system" and being in it would be the difference from him being a 600-800 a year receiver, to a 1000+ guy in a different one...Playing in a Lapo system as a receiver is your ticket to average stats, and average earnings Peterman loss is a non issue..potential sure, but maybe not, and he wasn't key for us in any manner, he won't unseat Woli or Demski, and we have Oleary-Orange who is cheaper, and offers more upside if you ask me
  6. Lawler, if not landing in the NFL is a slam dunk to be back here...bank on it. Speller...an "undrafted" guy at that was not coming back, he knew he would be a back-up here..most likely 7th guy at best, and the team had sufficient depth at lower price tag to offset his loss, so getting what we did was just a bonus, seeing as this is what we landed in the last draft in later rounds...2 key contributors to a grey cup team, and we have seen that Walters and the staff has had a good track record of finding useful talent in later rounds 7th Round: DB Nick Hallett, Toronto (61st) 8th Round: DB Kerfalla-Emmanuel Exume, Montreal (70th)
  7. didnt start that many games at center, Our starter..Couture who is the better of the 2 is back, and we have 5 other Canadians on roster..3 of whom are 26, one 28 and Neuf fighting for 2 starter spots so we good. Draft another rookie for the pipeline and theres no issue at all. Of the 4 youngest we had, Speller was probably 4th on the totem pole..Desjarlais was already a proven really good starter in yr 1 and will only get better, especially playing beside Bryant and Eli probably has the most upside of all the 4 kids next to Gray. Gotta remember lineman take up a lot of your SMS and having too many 2nd and 3rd year contract guys can gut your roster elsewhere
  8. yeah it was a given, especially with Neuf re-upping, and the depth we have. Allows us now to allocate some mid tier salary now to something of more need..especially in this Covid year where SMS will be a bit less available
  9. well Speller went undrafted, so you never know what you get in later rounds, as been proven by Walters in last few drafts
  10. Prior to Eli injury he was one of the higher rated center prospects in the NCAA going into what would have been his senior year...also at Hawaii in practice he took a lot of reps at the tackle position so grooming to become that, or have value as a depth guy before he takes over a fulltime spot is quite valuable...so landing him where we did was a complete steal I would think this may be Stan's last year if we go out on top again, and the probable switch could be Yoshi taking over the left side if we don't have an import on PR thats able to step in...If we use a Canadian at tackle eventually most likely will be at Right Tackle
  11. Well as many as he can, when he is in, it's our best version of the o-line..
  12. I would think Exume for Sure will be back..team loves him and he liked it here..lower priority, but a priority none the less..it will get done
  13. so basically we are starting the season with Bryant, Desjarlais, Couture, Neufeld and Hardrick as starters, and have Gray, Eli, Kolankowski and possibly Speller (all who have starter experience) battling for the back up spots...how can you not be pleased with that?
  14. well duhhh....doesn't take an "insider" to see that A quarterback who has 1 yr of starter experience, averaged 239 yards a game with 1 TD pass and almost .5 INT's a game and never won a playoff game, is not worth 500k a year...christ thats barely a 300k a year salary overnight sensation..aka one year wonder or flash in the pan...by week 5 Franklin will be the starter, and build on their losing record...especially with one of the worst o-lines in the league, if not the worst
  15. highly doubt we pick an o-lineman with our first...we go best player available who isn't NFL camp fodder...I almost think we may not even pick one this year until late, if at all When you have Neuf..Desjarlais..Couture..Gray..Eli and possibly Speller all in house and only at most 4 of them rostered there's no need, especially when other than Neufeld they are all 26 or under and we also have Kolankowski in the mix, who has CFL game experience and is only 28 I see us targeting a DT then DB/linebacker types and receivers
  16. with what we have done so far now with the Neufeld signing I would be fine with us not even really looking at anyone really in free agency as I believe we already made some nice pick-ups (Antighua..Awe..Otha Peters) and focus on getting Richardson, Lucky, Exume and Grant. The other pending foot soldiers are just a bonus but several on the list won't be missed I like what O'leary Orange can bring us in place of Peterman..no room for him now and as a tenured guy will cost more and will want a chance to start I think we will be very pleased with scouted guys at receiver with McKay and Stewart and possibly Ross (One I really intrigued with) and having McCallister back is gonna give us 3 edge guys who can cause havoc and curious to see what Boynton will do...no real room in this backfield when we have Alexander, Taylor, Jones, Johnson, Maston all back as proven starters And no need to have to fill any o-line holes with bigger ticket free agency guys which will cost us....When you have a group of Neufeld, Couture, Desjarlais, Eli, Gray and possibly a Speller all sandwiched between a Bryant and a Hardrick...well you have what our green neighbors out west "claimed" to have..an utter embarrassment of riches
  17. can easily carry both...Augustine was very good on teams last year, and is a more than adequate back-up in a pinch, Oliveira as well was rostered on ST's to start the season where he got hurt, and would be adequate to back-up
  18. Pretty sure Richardson, Exume and Lucky are all back in fold this year, just a matter of the higher priced guys needing to restructure first to see what we have to play with. I'd like to think Meddy is gonna chill for a while, but is only a phone call away if needed...I know he's been training like he normally would tho, so could be wrong there. With Gray, Desjarlais, Couture, Eli all in the fold with the 2 tackles it's gonna be one of Speller or Nuefeld, tho seeing what Biggie did to stay here. I could easily see Neufeld doing the exact same, as thats the type of guy he is, and he loves it here. Peterman will be back east..too bad, but can't keep them all and he is a luxury more than a need..and no room for him and he isn't displacing Woli or Demski and signing the U of M kid kinda leads to him being the cheaper backup
  19. well if Meddy hangs em up Neuf is a lock...and we can replace the roster spot with a cheap DI as well that will benefit the team
  20. yup...Grant isnt signed either...and Lucky was grossly mis-used by Lapo...I'd be shocked if he wasn't brought back
  21. yeah I guess so...but injuries in my opinion don't make a guy a back-up....when he is in he's a bonafide top level guard, and every time he was on IR his salary didn't count anyway so it's a moot point...not sure what he made last year but it wasn't 200k that much I am pretty sure...maybe 160k...and that being said..he like other starters with big paycheques will be taking a shave to stick around...and he wants to, so if we want him I am sure the numbers will work
  22. played as a starter in all games in 2018...2017 dressed as all, and partway through season was year I believe Bond got hurt, and couldnt get his spot back from Neuf...
  23. well from the same site..shows his games played...and regardless I go off what I know...from ,mouths of people who know more than mouths of fans...u free to your own opinions but he is the furthest thing from a backup in regards to offence...you are a sum of the parts in the games played...take in point the 2 games Harris was suspended we rushed for 341 yards total...hardly an indication that we would suffer in the run game if he was to be missing for some reason or another
  24. I guess u can say that about any player coming off of off season surgery...actually 9 games...and was a solidifying force once in...I guess you didn't cherry pick the 18 games in each of last 2 seasons plus playoffs eh?...if he was a backup/part timer THE COACHING staff wouldn't have put him in ahead of someone else Also of note he kept getting injured the first few year due to being rushed back before 100 percent because we had jack squat in terms of lineman...commendable of him to even suit up and a sign of a guy playing for his boys...exactly what this team is all about
  25. i think it would be foolish of us to use Harris like that again at his age, Or expect it....I think thats more the Lapo influence on the offence too..but u never know...maybe he could still do it, but those days of use are numbered and I would lake to see the transition to a slot type hybrid receiver for Harris this year...a role he could take well into his mid late 30's and be just as, if not more effective than Fatboi Nik Lewis A Olieveira/Augie combo would easily get us a combined 1100 to 1300 on the ground behind our line easily, as well as I bet 800 through air...Even tho he wasn't tasked with it in College much Oliviera has really good hands, and swing passes to him out in the flats some crossers would bring a world of hurt to a lot of db's..him getting the ball in open field in full gallop he would be a significant terror
