Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Booch replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
came from the line backing group Jones used to during pre-game go out of his way to piss players off so they wanted to kill him....He said it took players off their game and responsibilities and allowed him to wreak havoc. -
Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Booch replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
we had a LB group of West...Jones...Battle and Randolph at one point.....Kill to have that again -
If he got to play as the guy...the snaps would be just fine...and when has he got the chance to start and finish a game to see if there is any difference...he hasn't...and it's not like he hadn't earned it in practice like some people here claim as to why guys are stuck in the back seat...there no way to prove or earn anything in the practice format in todays practice...none...it needs to be shown in live reps...
-
We need to do a better job of coaching and player management insitu...aka during the game...That's where we been getting owned alot...we put together a game plan and roster...and much like how we break camp it is what it is and will just bang our heads against the wall trying to make it work..and putting guys in who aren't getting it done...and make minimal if any adjustments...its like they don't want to admit fault or failure by any tweeks and adjustments
-
roster decisions and dumb strategy cost us 3 cups...plain and simple no ifs ands or buts....some thos handful of plays flipped could have been acheived likely with healthy and proper players...also....You can also say the teams that beat us had plays they would have liked back too even tho they won...so the reasoning of if this...or that would have went the other way we would have won holds no weight....and a lot of times the idea of "if this would of went this way" or "that wouldn't have happened" is a direct result of what other team did...or didnt do.... We were out coached...out rostered...and out played for most part in 3 losses....in all 3 dumb decisions were made...alot of that due to roster and or lack of trust/experience in any player outside a starter....no way to sugar coat it....And looking seeming unprepared and having a poor scheme....again thats on coaching....and the non-ability to facilitate any adjustments, or player subbing and just continuing to try and pound square pegs in round holes ....well that didnt help matters either...and again....coaching...Coaching and coaching decisions leading up to the games were our demise Hardrick chased money and what it would have took to keep him was not worth it...so that hand was played for us Jeffcoat they lowballed and figured he would accept...he didnt...and they had no backup plan or player in waiting to cover...and we still haven't covered it Harris was in decline...and had become a bit of an issue...plus it was play BO and lose him.....so making the actual correct move there gets no applause from me...thats expected Only one that really was a bit shocking was Woli....and again...we havnt covered that position with any depth whatsoever...and a long term injury....god help us of 2 being utterly screwed

I agree on the bolded....and that happens often, and when the coords are dropping a duece it's on Osh to get in their ear....blast them....over rule...whatever, and he fails not to....unless.....the poor results is a result of him actually over ruling already....possible??....who knows...but there is a major disconnect many times with out in game coaching/communication...and it kills us I do know coaches get input but the notion he gives them exactly what they want I have doubts and never have heard that....and the coaches are not gonna publically say they wished they got other players to use....wont happen...but they will say all the things are rosey stuff tho...same with players.....well most The part about the ratio tho...is accurate and some his decisions on how he uses it hinders the roster and whom the coords can use.... Osh is a good coach for sure...leader of men maybe moreso....but have some doubts/questions about his X nd O ability and making in game decisions...or lack there off.....he has major flaws that have been glossed over and we have overcome with a real good roster....we dont have that now..
-
HC takes input...but he has last say and essentially sets lineup and roster...and essentially declares who he wants to see with player use and reps As @SpeedFlex27 said...basically signs off on the game day roster. He dictates who he wants out there based on gameplan they came up with. Good HC allows for most part his coordinators to come up with it and may offer input, but they give them essentially full creative control of it (and we do that here) but they control who is used to deploy it... All in game decisions...strategic...player performance (pulling a guy...injury replacement etc) is head coach...he is in total control of game day...and it's also up to him to get in ears of coordinators to make changes and adjustments when things are going off rails...in the end...he wears it This isn't assumption or opinion...its from being in the room...being in team mtgs as both a player and a coach...seeing it first hand...and it's basically like that everywhere

The yeah but crowd think reg season is a success even when losing the championship game with easily prevented circumstances...over and over...same reason.. Adams with 55 percent...Lawson 60...crazy...and there been reps with both Thomas and Korn...yikes Shay and Smith if any reps taken been at end of a game...meaningless plays really...token throw em a bone reps...not significant reps to assess ability and facilitate growth
-
when u said he gonna be depth and depth only and thats fine...I said you are a fool to believe that knowing Osh was the HC....Here's one time I wish I was wrong but I knew I wouldnt be I was shocked Korny made team...let alone active roster And with Adams it's not necessarily stats that show the true story...he consumes usually 2 guys...causes pressure and makes the QB have to move/change launch point or get flushed into someone else....but if we had complimentary peices with him...and Lawson...that would change in a big way and when we have both nim and Lawson on feild together in a 4 man....even one or both in 3 man...we have more sucess and pressure than with the other 2
-
they are not in some areas...Osh is putting out guys based on his heart and opinion...not talent sad....and fact Korn has 26 snaps most likely parking one of lawson...Adams even sadder pathetic if you watched any pre-season game action you could have seen it People I talked to re: camp said they were the better....and the few practices I been to since, where they run thru just basic technical stuff...running....movements you can see it.....it's plain as day they also run fronts with athletic and versatile guys...which help....we have currently 4 guys able to do that (WJ..Vaught..Adams...Lawson) but they need help and with Korn..Thomas and a converted LB at rotational end...we dont have the proper players....ends are dogged out and have to take plays off whether they want to or not... Guys like Person...Bailey....can and have played teams...Fox and Woods last yr did as well....you dont need a redundant amount of slugs who cant take reps on offence or defence as your major part of roster config.....You can have rotaional guys that can take reps with little to now drop off play teams tho....and rotate in....here's where we are slitting our own throats....we draft a lot with the sole purpose/idea of ST's....thats bad practice...and dumb.....Anyone can play teams at the pro level....especially if athletic....not everyone can play offence or defense and not hurt you tho...this is where we failing in a huge way now that our staring 24 and 3 key subs are not stacked anymore...or 3-5 yrs younger Demski too could barely run and should not have been out there that game cause....he been here 3 yrs now.....most likely.... we dont turn our de's loose anymore....and when you have no push in the middle with half your dline interior.....then no reason for the qb to try and escape and get swallowed up off the edge...he either steps up and finds a second or 3rd read....or just hits the primary guy on a quick toss unabated.....when we were kicking butt and looking like a all-time defensive unit...we Had our 2 end letting loose with 2 other ends spelling them off...and guys like Nevis...stove...Sayles casuing issues inside with a sprinkling of Jake....and even in his "prime" he lacked a lot Now we have 2 ends who get no rotation....Jake getting majority of inside reps and sporadic use of the 2 legit DT's....and people wonder why we get zero pressure....no sacks...and at times QB's seem to just sit back and pick apart 8-9 guys in coverage 100 percent
-
I think that where Mitchell would help as opposed to Sterns....Sterns isnt really gonna be a deep threat contested ball guy, nor do I see him excelling at crossers in the mid to intermediate area...or really as the trusted second down conversion/chain mover guy....Clercius has that covered Mitchell would garner attention and stretch things out a bit...and not just over top stuff, and with Demski and Schoen working their bread and butter prob leave Wheatfall with a lot of man to man stuff....Mitchell has the potential...and history of breaking stuff from anywhere....Don't really see that with Sterns....he's kind of just out there...and redundant....we need a twitchy/ burner type or a bigger physical guy who can win battles in contested situations and help in run game...Sterns does neither said all along too...Banking on Schoen as being the game breaker and your A1 guy again was a fools game barely a yr from ACL reconstruction. And paying him as such...which thankfully we are not would also been as about as dumb as re-upping ZC before seeing a good 6-8 games outta him
-
Jake and T.Jones didnt out perform anyone....Kolo either...Punter guys didnt..... J.Jones...Allen....Woodbey...Ayers did tho.....Adams as well but still takes a back seat.\ I doidnt see Korn outplay anyone.....Bridges either...Sterns wasn't the 5th best receiver in camp.....and you certainly can go with a rookie in a tie or if debatable...especially if younger and shows upside and the older player is what he is How do you think T.Jones got here...by all accounts...his included he had a great camp in Edm...and was shocked...as were others he was outright cut....for a young rookie.....that's coaching 101 also....that rookie ended up as R.O.Y too....I wish Edm would have cut him instead with the Osh theory and we had Anderson here....Anderson...Ayers...J.Jones...Wilson....gimme some of that no....yeah but.....lol
-
that's the sad part...we kept the aged...declining...in a few instances washed up players...guys who have been part of 3 flops in a row....and let the young, upside guys walk away.....now make that make sense? resting on laurels
-
Osh makes change only due to season ending injury, or player defection....Name one player cut out right by Osh that has been here more than 2 yrs that was a starter....or even bumped to a back-up or PR role He wont make a change to use a better player....or a mid-season change let alone a mid-game switch....why who knows
-
it is when the coach keeps the lesser talent...and that happens here...too much Or who nakes the roster in a Championship game littered with injured guys, and not roster the "they are all starter" guys?....the water boy??..No ...the HC....He signs off on all of it and is the man responsible....Hence the Title "Head Coach"
-
if players underachieve in what they are doing....or pull it off in glorious fashion....It's all related to the coaching and preparedness leading up to the game....and that on coaches...good or bad....some plays will be made by exceptional play even in a bad play call or scheme but generally thats done by going rouge per say and superceding the scheme.....but going rogue over and over gets you parked on a bench...or at the bus stop/airport and thats my point exactly....if guys are not put in place...or in system to succeed...it will look like an under acheiver....it's coaching.....just as it is when we play lights out. Player 's will even say...well not the self absorbed ones but the team players will say they were pout in a position to be successful....thats scheme/gameplan/personelle
-
That defence got pressure from 3 and 4 guys...cause they employed guys to get it done...big difference...Huge And playing a injured player as yhour "best roster decision" is a brutal excuse....and even if so....then wholly crap your roster IS in serious dissaray...you basically just confirmed that it was poorly constructed and doesnt Osh say..."they are all starter quality...thats why they here"....and "if they are in the building it's because we believe they give us a chance to win"....so either a) prove that b) practice what you preace....or shutthefuckup and get guys in who can do either of those quotes
-
YEAH ITS not bottom 4....its right up the middle of defense starters.....zero WR depth and really and underwhelming group as it is....using guys out of position to play a spot (end) when we have 2 guys who showed really well in TC and pre-season....Give them their shot.....How do you think Holm got a spot...he was basically 2/3rds the way outta here...actually wasnt he cut?...Parker got hurt...who beat him out and low and behold Holm has been here ever since Nichols and Alford...2 pure rookies....One is a mainstay....one in is kights out and ended up in the NFL....Mind you those were due to necessity as we had no hold overs....but that panned out pretty well when given a shot Stove....came in as an unknown...late to camp....played unreal for us as a rookie...2nd yr guy.....give a guy a shot.....instead of the old guard who arent getting ut done...and have been part of 3 consecutive flops....dont get better if you aint trying...Osh aint trying hard enough we've won many games in spite of roster management tho....but those days are over as we not loaded with guys in their prime talent anymore....tho Osh thinks we are...and thats bad
-
his play with the Argo's and in TC is more than enough evidence... as well as his all around athleticism and ability to play the run....Blitz/get after the QB (7 sacks in his full season) and cover....again evidenced by his play in T.O also is a good indicator....no real holes in his game...3 yrs younger too so can be even better.....T.Jones is a hold over...a guy who Osh "likes" and has holes in his game...he isnt a true everydown guy, and if he was Edm woulda kept him but they dumped him for a younger more athletic guys...who had/has upside...and ultimately was the CFL rookie of the yr...coaches saw talent...gave him his shot....nouf said And we carry guys like KOLO...Schmeck...Korn...Thomas...lesser extent we feel we have to play Kramdi as a starter....keep bringing back Hallett...Gauthier.....ST only guys......if tht best we have and nobody on 1 game or 6 game or PR is better.....then why they even here....You cant earn playtime in practice in this era....just cant...so how do you profess they earn it?....they need to play....not run around on scout...or 8 man skelly....not gonna happen exactly....another poster gets it....T.Jones was cemented in as the defacto starter as soon as he was re-upped to a 2 yr deal....Same with Kolo...Same with Thomas...didnt matter if we brought in a Lawrence Taylor, Mike Webster and Jim Jeffcoat clone....they were not bumping anyone....
-
the condition where 5 guys shouldn't be playing...but will be like the 2023 cup...
-
couldnt have said it better....kinda hits nail on the head and now that the original core is aged...declining...some case not good enough...a couple never really were good enough, yet still play them like CFL Hall of Famers in their prime...well you get what you get Used to be you had an outlier random stink bombe of a game....seemed unprepared/unmotivated....but plenty of dominance games ....now you have random dominant game, which almost seems like the outlier game now....but more and more games of hot garbage, totally outcoached and looking unprepared....guys going through motions....and the coach with his ho hum attitude about it...reluctance to do anything diffeent or about it....and has that look on the sidelines that does not show any concern or anger about what he seeing...almost a confused befuddled....stunned look, and it's just status quo and look back at the past and assume it will show up again....and it won't more times than it will Add in the fact we dont even give guys a chance doesnt help...Would JJones be better?....can Shay and Smith take reps in rotation to develop....sure be nice to see...Would Griffin be the better SAM....That right there is a definate yes.....sitting down Jake for a game or 2 and use the imports strictly with Lawson in the middle....would we be better....more productive?....pretty sure yup....would that hekp WJ and Vaughters...especially with a legit guy to rotate in....only a fool would think no.....so who is our fool? and the biggest thing if these guys on our roster and PR are not god enough or have any ability or upside to get on the roster and make a difference...then why are they still here?

dline has needed help since we lost Kongbo...Stove....Nevis...Sayles...even Hansen and we made it worse by low balling Jeffcoat into retirement....injury issues?...I call b.s on that as we continued to sign/play BA...Biggie...Grant (until we effed that up) Hallett...and others who were always walking wounded and missed chunks...Only reason why the other Hallett is gone is because he physically cant do it anymore We of recent have some more than capable guys....but they play second fiddle to Osh's fav's....Even the strange decision to not re-up Fox and Garbutt was flawed and short sited as both playing well in Ham and would definately be helping here....likely tho they wanted to try free agency and actually get real playtime elsewhere...others have left here for that reason...a couple I also know alomost did but got talked into staying by some vets here Guys who know they can play...wanna play....you can be the best team guy in the world but when you have to consistently take a back seat to an inferior coach's preference....you can only stomach it for so long
-
Ford was going to his brother's team...and out priced himself any way...so out of our hands there Biggie...was hurt...and not gonna be ready....if not hurt....he was gonna be here...if Osh continues to roster Thomas..kolo..Scmeck....Wilson...Scmeck....you know damn well Biggie would have been here BA...is maybe the only one we chose to move on from...did we low ball him tho like we did Jeffcoat?...quite possible...who knows 100 percent that was taken out of his hands....he wont be playing next week either...or week after I bet...9 months out...for an aged player...at his position?...nahhhh....and if he does try that soon....gonna really tarnish the last memories fans will have of him
-
if anything...learn from past losses....and why....and adjust/change things.......and not repeat it....continually.....easy concept most coaches grasp.....most
