  1. My understanding was we had yes....a 2 yr deal for him at that price, but both parties were gonna wait to see his market price....and as it played out we prob would have bumped up to 240 but at this juncture in his career being prob his last lucrative deal he went for the financial benefit...and cant fault him for that...onward and upward
  2. ZC tho needs vets...and a guy he will trust...Rhymes would be that....and he has a knack for pulling in shittty balls...albeit at times on the cusp of OPI....But if he doing it for us...I'm fine with that....And ZC does throw a lot of shitttty balls in bad spots I think we should just Sign him...Bring back BOLO and be done on the reciever search....rely on scouting and the inevitable return of Wilson...he not gonna stick down south... That group would give us a nice big physical group with a lot of versatility....also have to assume we will see a lot of Logan...Especially with Lapo here...and If it Jackson...he will utilize the hell out of a explosive dude like that
  3. ZC definitely needs a guy to secure thos less than ideal passes to thrive...Keep them from away from Schoen as he takes a shitkicking as it is already
  4. yup...we got his market offer...and we walked.....good move....I guess he is going back to losing again....so be it Only guy still available I would want is Rhymes now...his physicality would be a welcome augmentation to the group Mitchell...Demski..Schoen...Rhymes...Clercius as a starting 5 would be a nice group... Not sure how Dobson has himself valued at that...maybe after another bet on yourself 1 yr deal and prove it maybe same...love him when he is on...but even if he gives you 18 games....in the current CFL market now thats on over pay now...Dobson is on glue....
  5. You should be turning over pieces of your roster every yr....we essentially stood pat for most part for 4 straight yrs...allowed our depth to erode, and we put zero effort into identifying who and where we may need to upgrade/move on from due to age/production/cost and brought in a true blue chip talent to develop and easily transition them into the spot....and instead just rode the wagon till the wheels fell off, and had zero depth behind key positions The last 2 yrs we are truly lucky WJ didnt go down for an extended time...or even Bighill when he was still productive...as we had zero depth there....We would have ran out Gauthier and Briggs as they all starters and suffered greatly and yup...we went away from this and should have continued that mindset with bringing in established guys just at the edge of achieving their peak and keep filtering it thru the roster...instead of retaining "our" guys....essentially just because...we missed out on a lot of guys we likely could have signed...but we felt it wasnt needed because status quo seemed to be working....and that had no forward thinking involved in it and having the foresight and projecting..a yr...2 yrs down the road and groom your successor....or bring in the successor and thank the incumbent for their service...which we didnt...we have really eroded ur depth and hamstrung our roster....and thankfully it looks like we are getting back to re-stocking and moving on...a few yrs too late but its a start
  6. getting rid of young...2nd yr guys and keeping over the hill guys who were here for the flops is assbackwards....you know some the dead weight has hit it's ceiling....are on the downslope and offer next to nothing down the road....you don't know that with a young player...especially ones who really didnt really get a lot of rope to hang themselves.....U dont wanna believe it but games are won and lost....and players success and failure in football is 90 percent due to prep....coaching....adequate roster...and adjustments by the coaching staffs in game......on any team...thats what failed us. If it wasnt a coaching issue and the good and bad is all on the players...why have coaches?... we've done some good moves and I acknowledge them where warranted...but will also call out the stupid ones too....and we made a few....let me rephrase...continue to make the same lame ones....A person can call out both sides of the equation....deosnt make them less than thou or anti anything....in any job environment...you continue to make the same gaffs or fail to adapt and eveolve...get better....u dont last a longtime
  7. so true....reg season is all nice...and feels good....total collapse in the championship games....and flops that were totally avoidable...unacceptable. I can give a one time mulligan...but after 3 yrs running....things gotta change a bit and be re-visited in off-sesson....and the issue identified...and corrected....and this is FIFO isnt it....dont wanna conform then Eff the Eff off
  8. Pickens are getting slim...Dont want/need Hollins....Rhymes may be viable...we can take advantage of his push offs now.....and he is still a productib=ve guy above and beyond that...and brings some attitude to the group.....His uncle played here...he may as well I still not sold on Lawler being gone tho either...from my understanding he wanted 2 yrs here...The market as is now wont garner him more than 250k ....between 200 and 250 here...with part of it as possible incentive based...is totally doable
  9. oddly enough tho thru camp and just skill wise he looked the most pro ready of the guys we brought in....did it translate on field..no....but also was it how we used him?...I didnt ee him as a swing and hittch guy but more a spread the field...more intermediate and deep routes and we never did that with him...Thats on Buck and glad he gone as he really had not clue how to utilize particular players particular talents and skill sets...I bet he looks totally different in the Hammer we could have stocked our cupboards....filled our needs and left him out there and then signed him after all the signing flurry ended across the league...he would have still been there and we likely could have signed him for less saying this is all we got...and he would have took it if he wanted to continue being a pro ball player...that was my biggest issue....he wasnt a priority, and if someone did scoop him....no loss and made some of our 2025 roster decisons pre-made for us...as in...he wont be in it
  10. last 3 yrs really....I wanna trust.....Faith in the scouts and Walters...zero faith in Osh rostering our best roster tho...none...zip....until he prob=ves otherwise and he can deviate from 2019-2021...I will be critical and call **** out
  11. Geno would be just as good or better for us...I'd be all for that. Acklins hanging them up
  12. We not winning the cup last few yrs had nothing to do with the players...tho the injured ones we tried to play with didn't help...or the lack of depth in key spots...but that all points to the reason we lost.
  13. size means **** all if you have the skill and can play....oline and dline is more a concern but skilled poitions....nahhhhh
  14. Cant see how we couldn't fit that into our SMS HE made more last yr..as did Schoen...
  15. Jones is a real solid signing...Mitchell is ok...has potential for sure....but has never been a 1000 yard guy and is he a guy that can carry a team when need be? Schoen I am glas is back, but he also is a big unknown right now...who knows how he gonna respond after his injury...so unless we sign another big time guy....we could be conceivably weaker at receiver this yr At Dline,....Yaeh Thomas pisses me off as he is pointless....and just blocks development of a younger Canadian another yr, or takes reps from an import guy who is better.....You can all say maybe osh just gonna use him as a few snaps a game rotation guy ...well if that was the case why bother...save the 100k plus money and just use Samson or a draft pick there on entry level....Lawson shouldnt be sharing reps with or back seat to any national dt we roster...Vaughters is good signing but we also need a legit 3rd end too to make it work and a more than capable 4th guy to rotate....as it stands right now we have neither...Not saying Garbutt or Haba would be world beaters here but as many chime in here....expect a loss for every rookie...which is a load of **** anyway but you get my point....we gonna roster 2 brand new new guys?....no experience?....I do think Person's is gonna rip it up but that still leaves us exposed at end if WJ or Vaughters goes down and from what I see left in the FA pool now there isnt much left that would be better than what we had and likely will cost more...same at DT...Woods and Adams are legit prospects and yr 2 should show more....fly in ointment are they gonna be back seat to Jake and Schmeck again?...there were some pieces to be had that choose to go elsewhere...if we offered comparable money as to where they went....wouldn't they have wanted to come here as we are the desired place??...I dont think we even really gave a legit offer to any of them, so curious as to who and what we are targeting for defence.
  16. so far....we still have a few on roster...and some unsigned...and still could be re-upped.....Interesting nobody has signed Biggie tho...hope someone does soon tho because you know damn well if he available in the spring.......................
  17. Jones has holes in his game....big ones....he's the perfect 4th guy tho to rotate in at wil and MAC and depth...and start if need be...he's not a legit impact MLB by any stretch....or a difference maker teams scheme for Could have traded for Flo...Obviously was on market...Ceresna went to Edm....did we even make an offer that was competitive?...Hendrix was available...as well as a few others...Throw a couple pails at Toothpickguy to make him consider, or atthe least drive up price for T.O....all would have been huge upgrades....not sure who we targeting now thats an upgrade
  18. JT being one...for 3 yrs running.....Lump Wilson in there now....if you gonna not bring back guys likethat....purge them all
  19. Id say a legit MLB....NOSE/DT and DE are pretty huge holes here
  20. Lawler is looking to see what market is so Walters knows the range, and likely will stay if its a reasonable and fair offer if it's a bit less...A low ball tho and he be gone...and dont blame him....or anyone for that matter
  21. if you do due diligence on a player, be t film...talking to players...coaches ....college coach and determine him a target then shouldnt be throwing cash into the wind...thats being exceptional in your recruitment....I agree tho on how the Riders....B.C...Hamilton seem to go about it...not a good approach I saw Walter's theory, but also have seen and been involved with other G.m's and how they do it too...like they say...more than 1 way to skin a cat...and any approach iant necessarilythe right...or wrong....it's okay to deviate if it makes you better...it really is....honest
  22. i'M sure he will do well there with your coaching and how you utilize a dline rotation...history the last several yrs has shown so
  23. Jackson wouldn't have been a no surprise...would have ben a nice surprise and a nice infusion of some new blood/ideas
  24. for a place where we are the supposed desired destination...we sure miss out on an lot of talented guys
  25. I suggest that if there is an opportunity to bring in an impact player or 2....you do it....if that means moving on from a lesser albeit here for several yrs here guy or 2...so be it. Also don't go into any off-season/FA pigeon holing yourself with the idea that you only have so much in this area to spend...and that area...or we are going to go Canadian here...import there, but try obtain the best players within reason at any given position regardless of Nationality or position, and actually use your TC to sort it all out...hardly an unreasonable thing, and one many a successful organization does like Fonzie?? lol...Not sure what that analogy means tho...But at times how we go about things is puzzling and a bit limiting...regardless if people wanna say "ya but" 5 straight appearances.....how bout "Yeah but we epically threw 3 straight wins away" what o we NEED to do to change that, and what was the reasons for it.....not just shashay around business as usual...with not a worry in the world
