  1. Both Montreal and Toronto have very good teams and depth.
  2. All teams have the same problem vs Montreal hence their record this year. It's what Montreal does very well. How so? Montreal's record over the past season and a half speaks for itself, as does Toronto's with the sex offender under centre.
  3. If it bounces backwards, as many kickoffs do, they are pinned inside their 10.
  4. Montreal has a good team. Full stop. We went into a very tough place to win, and won. It was a road game against the league leading defending Champs. Not sure why anyone would think this win would or should be pretty, or why one would lose confidence in our team because of it? Against a very good Noel Thorpe defence in a cold weather windy game. This was prototypical fall weather CFL football.
  5. Not as bad a look as being a sex offender. If Kelly was even a little bit willing to quit acting like the pond scum that he is, I might be more inclined to not want to treat him like pond scum. I really have no use for the guy, and really wish the CFL would have had the balls to stand behind it's violence against women stance and get rid of him. Had he been on any other team they may have. Read the room here. Hoping a perv like Kelly gets his just desserts is not the bad look around here that you think it is.
  6. Comparing eras to each other is a fool's game. One has to look at the dominance within their own era to determine all-time ranking. It would be ridiculous to suggest that any athlete from the 80's/90's would excel in the current era if they had a time machine. However, given the benefit of the advances we've seen in training, physio, etc. etc. I believe a guy like Flutie or Gretzky would be equally as dominant coming up through their development with the same massive advantages. You are exactly right. Put the best hockey players in the world now into 70's era hockey skates and sticks etc and watch how they fare too.
  7. Sure...that could be said about many QBs. When they are playing the top of their game they are playing like an MOP. What makes an MOP is consistently doing that. As for Kelly getting what he deserves, too bad. Exactly. If HOF was awarded for the first year and a half of a QBs career then Casey Printers and Jon Jennings would be shoe-ins as well. Offensive risk taking philosophies were night and day to what they are now. QBs were not only allowed to, but offences asked them to, throw balls that would get them benched now.
  8. Prep is on the players. I'm not going to defend Hall's defensive play calling in last year's GC. It was bad. However, we had guys simply blow coverages at key moments, and ZC making errant throws and that is NOT on coaching...ever.
  9. It was a factor in our losses for sure. The only factor? Nope. There were multiple reasons we lost that game and most of them were not on the coaching. My objection is that you guys say that with better coaching we would have won...and it's only partially true..we also needed about a half dozen brain cramps, busted coverages, and poor QB decisions, back as well. Had we played a clean game up to the level of our lineup we had it's quite possible that roster usage may not have mattered
  10. One could easily argue that because you are trying to compare two different eras of QBing. Compare Kelly to his peers, and compare Flutie to his and then you will grasp what people are saying about Kelly. Kelly has won exactly zero championships and stats wise was the 2nd best QB last year, and is very average in comparison to his peers stats wise this year. No one here is saying that Kelly isn't a good QB, but he is absolutely no shoe in for the HOF either.
  11. Imo, Taylor was brought in for the very specific reason of being the insurance policy of BA can't go in the playoffs. I highly doubt he is brought in for any other secondary function at this juncture of the season.
  12. We will IR guys off the PR that we would like to keep for next year I would think
  13. I am thinking he could play safety still. What's outlandish is saying we were and I quote "lucky as hell to win the cup in 21". There was absolutely zero luck involved and really takes credit away from what was a great team, with great coaching, that achieved great things that year. I guess I'm just a little sensitive to people crapping or taking credit away from a team that really deserves our ongoing respect.
  14. I have no ignorance of what's going on. I just don't feel the need to rehash criticisms or praise over and over again. It is a fruitless exercise that ends up just annoying everyone. I tend to skew towards positivity when it comes to MOS but not over the top. I just don't feel that the mistakes he has made have outweighed all the great coaching he has also brought to the table. I doubt you find many Bomber fans who do, even those that are very knowledgable about the game. I also don't make outlandish claims to justify my opinion. I respect your opinion a lot Booch but sometimes the hyperbole in your comments is over the top and it ends up taking away from your argument instead of adding to it.
  15. We were not lucky to win any of our Grey Cups and we were not lucky to get to any of them. Anyone who says otherwise is posting with an agenda. Sorry Booch but that's some kind of bullshit man. You wanna advance your argument about MOS, I get that, but don't make up **** and sell it as fact. Yea, we lost 2 Grey Cup games in a row, but we never played up to our level in either game and we lost both by very tight scores. We were not some kind of smoke and mirror team that got exposed in the big game. That's a crock. Saying stuff like that is a real slap in the face to our players who worked their tails off for us fans to have that chance.
  16. I spend most of my time in Thompson these days, but it's good to know that Arby's will be around whenever I come back to the city.
  17. I would think he and Taylor are just some late season insurance policies.
  18. Win/loss and championships are and should be BIG factors in HOF. However, you gotta have the outstanding personal stats to go with it. In iso neither the win%/championships or ind stats should get you there. Must have at least a little of both. Kelly's ind stats are pretty pedestrian imo.
  19. My take is abuse is not an excuse for 1st degree murder. It was planned and premeditated. Simple as that.
  20. I bought a bottle of horsey to go with an outside round i had cooked and shaved for roast beef on safeway onion buns a couple weeks ago, that's how I knew. I was just looking over the condiment aisle and there it was. I was tickled pink. I used to love the Arbys roast beef sandwiches but am rarely able to get one these days.
  21. Looks that way. Maybe shoring up our SY unit too that literally sucked as well.
  22. You are half right. There is no use complaining about that tackle and no angle shows definitively that he had a mitt full of jersey. You are allowed to have a hand on the back just can't be grabbing anything. We did not lose because we sucked ass though, that's a Rider thing.
  23. For many, many years when playing vs. the East the Western teams have to overcome the officiating as well.
  24. I didn't notice but I was kind of swearing and jumping around.
  25. The PR increases by 5 people for a 30 day window and then reduces by 5, at the club's option of when they choose that window to be open, between Sept.5 and November.8th. If we opened our window a few days after the NFL cuts that 30 days expiry would coincide with the cuts we saw the other day. The PR does expire at season's end but the 30 day expanded PR window can end anytime from Oct. 4 - Nov. 8 and if clubs have used the expanded PR, like we do every year, then they must reduce numbers at the time the 30 day window expires. PRs go from 12 to 17 players with an extra NAT necessary in those 5 if the club already has bare minimum NATs on the PR. It's all on CFLdb.
