  1. Off topic but speaking of NFL cuts one to maybe keep an eye on is QB Alex McGough. He has been on our neg list forever and has been released by Seattle. Might get a look elsewhere but if he is unsigned we may try bring him in for a look if he's willing.
  2. My guess is we got him on the cheap and that Walters will have his eyes glued to the NFL cuts today. Roosevelt is a smart possession type receiver. He's not going to blow us away by any stretch of the imagination but at least he won't be dropping first downs. I would think that we still have Mitchell's money set aside for an NFL cut and that Walters and our offence would love to add a playmaker receiver to the mix.
  3. Unless he stayed in Canada after being cut. EDIT: Nope he's gotta quarantine.
  4. I agree. We should keep political agendas away from the CFL discussion and in the several General discussion threads available. Just sickening that a guy puts up an O.K symbol and is branded a white supremacist without a single shred of proof or any general knowledge about the man and his character. Lets be a little more classy MBB.
  5. Back to the issue of Canadian politics, it sure looks like Trudeau's majority plan is in big jeopardy. The CPC now in a 4 point lead in Ontario. The Liberals will need to pick up a boat load of seats in Quebec and the numbers there have their support dipping as well. I think a CPC government is a long shot but it is quite possible this election narrows the gap even more on the Liberals. Trudeau's popularity is waning as well. The Liberals have their work cut out for them. It was a big risk to call this election at this time given everyone's post pandemic grumpiness....I think the Liberals overestimated their appeal.
  6. LMAO....you would just dismiss them. I'm not going to play your game. The whole cancel culture and absurd length of political correctness everyone must endure is extreme. Biologists under attack for stating that biologically there are two sexes...EXTREME, As a small C conservative I abhor right wing extremism as much as left wing extremism. What I hate is either side saying that their political extremes are somehow justified or don't exist. It's pure nonsense. The only way we get the polarization between the two sides back to a healthy balance is by both sides working to eliminate the extremes from their ranks.
  7. Yes, there seems to be a penchant for gross over reaction to opposing view points right now that is leading to even more polarization. No side of the political spectrum seems to want to admit or fix flaws they have and are instead blaming the opposite end of the spectrum for the flaws existing. Too many examples of this to count are found right here in this thread. It is sad. Instead of thoughtful debate on issues it devolves into "well your side is worse". This is how we have governments of the day pushing repulsive policy down our throats while playing boogeyman politics to re-inforce their popularity. That happens on the left and right of the political spectrum. Anyone saying otherwise is part of the problem.
  8. What a crock. That's total bullshit. List off the most admirable traits of the left and then try and suggest the right finds this extreme. Total crap. The last time there was violent left was the Black Panthers? SMH...how about ANTIFA or BLM just off the top of my head. Hey...i'm not proud of the alt-right. I am a middle C conservative. I just disagree with the notion that there aren't factions on the far left that are barf worthy as well.
  9. That is certainly your opinion, and I respect your right to have it. The Globe and Mail is an editorial by an award winning journalist that has been in their employ for many, many years. Again, where did I mention the left extremism on campuses to be a uniquely Canadian thing?
  10. This is not an opinion piece. Unless, of course, you don't understand the representations of the numerous studies that were referenced. But keep being you. It cites numerous studies and facts. Do you dispute the validity of them? It is compiled within the confines of an op/ed but the numbers being shown are pretty staggering. I will let you draw your own conclusions though, as is your right.
  11. https://www.aei.org/articles/are-colleges-and-universities-too-liberal-what-the-research-says-about-the-political-composition-of-campuses-and-campus-climate/ Hate speech? What hate speech are you referencing in that article? That's the problem with the left right now, they are trying to define opposing view points as hate speech and that's just garbage. What we are seeing in academia is an indoctrination of leftist principles on a massive scale in our halls of upper learning. What is problematic about it is that in order to stifle debate the far left has claimed the right to define what is politically acceptable to discuss and labelled any conversation that disagrees with them as hate speech. I don't disagree that their are true examples of hate speech that shouldn't be tolerated that emanate from the far right, what I disagree with is the shutting down of all dissenting conversation under a universal labelling of hate speech when it is not.
  12. Really? The Toronto Globe and Mail is an alt right site/blog? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/academic-extremism-comes-to-canada/article33185073/ ...and that is just in Canada. The US has become far, far more of a campus leftist powder keg.
  13. As we have seen with every attempt at Marxism/socialism as well....and at a far more expedited rate. Only took a couple decades for Marxism to devolve into communism and dictatorship in pretty much every country that has attempted it thus far.
  14. Exactly. We have seen violence emerge from the left in the cases of Antifa and BLM (just as a small microcosm of recent times) and then free speech being halted by the far left on many university campuses around North America. There is danger to our freedoms and violence on both ends of the political extreme and it really makes no difference what anyone's intentions were once it devolves to that level. WIth very small population bases. DIng ding ding....winner winner chicken dinner.
  15. I don't deny there is right wing extremism so save your sarcasm for a rainy day. However, if your argument is that right wing extremism is worse therefore left wing extremism doesn't exist then I can't begin to describe how fundamentally flawed that argument is. Why can't you just simply admit that extremism exists on both sides of the political spectrum? Are you seriously that biased?
  16. Harris was the MOP of the last CFL season and there was no one even close really. I love me some Brady, and love we have a legit contender for replacing Harris when his time is up, but to suggest that there is little drop off between him and Harris is a bit of an exaggeration. Harris is waaaaay better unless he has really dropped off. Nelson is not much of a PR. He is decent on KRs. Grant is a bonafide threat though, he makes our return game dangerous.
  17. Surely you jest. No one could be so biased as to not see that extremism exists strongly and currently on both ends of the political spectrum.
  18. Nope Trudeau is also embarrassing. I don't give two figs about who wins the election because this is a hold your nose moment when the ballot is in front of you. There isn't a good choice right now. Trudeau and his broken promises, never ending scandals, and western alienation or O'Toole and his dysfunctional party that is out of touch with the times. Take your pick but make no mistake....BOTH are bad. Anyone suggesting otherwise is drinking one party's kool-aid.
  19. No different than the left going bonkers to the extreme left as well. Polarization is happening on both ends of the political spectrum and it's not good either way. Nor should the move to the extreme left be one that is encouraged. That crazy wing is the leftovers of the Reform party. They felt their grip on control of the party was slipping and O'Toole pandered to their insecurity and beat out a far superior candidate doing so.
  20. Its all about the severity of the fracture. A partial break is painful but not necessarily debilitating and depending on location might just have needed pain management...which obviously didn't work out. I once ran a half marathon on a broken ankle. Pain meds, a good tape job, and confirmation from my doctor that it would do no further damage were all that was needed. A real tough one for the RIders, he is their only legit deep threat.
  21. SMS, roster number management, injury just isn't responding? One of those would be my guess.
  22. I disagree on your first point mainly because Trudeau has been equally as embarrassing, but agree on your second point that O'Toole is a very uninspiring choice.
  23. Sure there will be examples of that all over between all parties, however, the Liberals have not given a reason for more than a very minute amount of people to change their minds about them. They have swayed you and that's your prerogative but recent polling numbers are showing that it will be another minority. Personally I don't see much change in outcomes coming. No party has stepped up and left the fray behind. There was some worry about Bernier before the last election then he went full wingnut. I don't think there is much worry now. They will realistically not be a factor in the outcome of this election unless it comes down to a virtual tie and even then they have no realistic shot at winning any seats. None of these parties will get votes in anything other than the staunchest right ridings where the CPC candidate will still win in a landslide.
  24. Sure, one could do that or one could know that games vs. common opponents are not a good indicator because things change, motivations change, a team's psyche can change, from week to week and learn to use a football educated eyeball test instead and pick the Bombers because they are simply the better looking football team right now.
  25. You have high hopes for this WIP but realistically it will amount to a protest vote by a very small % of the population in areas that won't even move the needle.
