Especially to the media...I can't imagine his players appreciated that too much. Football players are a proud and confident bunch and your coach telling anyone, but particularly the media, that another team outclasses you is not a good thing in any dressing room.
-
Building up the other team is one thing, but saying your team had no chance of beating them is another entirely, especially after the fact. I like it when a coach is honest and compliments the opposition but I have never heard one say that his team couldn't have beat the other team. I coached and was coached for a long time in football and if you went into a game thinking you can't win I can guarantee you weren't going to do so. Never did I hear a coach suggest that the other team is too good.

Mr. Lee heading after that PPC vote.
-
Speaking of Dickenson, he doesn't pull any punches. Telling 3DN that the Bombers are a better team by A LOT, and that he doesn't think his team could have beat us is about as honest AND dumb as a coach could be. Way to rally the troops CD....tell your guys they are not capable....smart. I have never seen a coach do this before. Football players have to have confidence to succeed. When you are going up against a team that is better than you, you can't let your players know that.

If there was ever a crown corporation that needs a revamp and should be defunded it is the CBC. I am not in favor of crown's privatizing but I would be in the case of the CBC. That place is just a feedbag of patronage appointments with no accountability to the taxpayer whatsoever. I think this election was wholly unecessary and I am thankful that it appears whoever wins will have a slim minority and will likely not call an election for the next 4 years. In all likelihood, we will be back at this within the next 2 years but the government will have to walk into that election on a vote of non confidence if it is to do so.

They are all a joke. There is not a party with the exception of the Greens that will do anything more than pay lip service to climate change. That's the reality. In the meantime, I'll choose the green plan that doesn't hit me directly in the pocket book through taxation. I guess I am being cynical, but no party's performance on this has given me any reason not to be. Not a single mention of infrastructure spending to create the possibility we can go green. That's the first step every single one of these morons needs to be talking about. The GTA can't go electric until they have enough electricity and infrastructure to supply that electricity. Hydrogen is the more likely answer in North America....but for some reason our governments seem beholden to the idea of electric battery use and that requires far more power than our electrical grid can supply. Until these clowns start planning for climate change from the bottom up I am afraid this issue goes on the backburner for me. Not because I don't believe it's important, but because I haven't seen a party with a realistic chance of winning that seems committed in any way to reduce carbon emissions one iota therefore I am voting based on what they actually might do and not listening to empty promises anymore. Trudeau has not done squat about the environment. Emissions are higher now than before but my gas is 1.45 a liter now. I'm voting for the economy this time, because when climate change becomes more and more increasingly disruptive and we are face to face with a climate crisis that could destroy our economy, I would like us not to be hundreds of trillions of dollars in debt at that time. You do you...but I cannot and will not give the Liberals another 4 years....I can't afford it.

I don't like it when one injury makes you change 2 roster spots, but it's not the end of the world either especially when you got a stud like Alexander that can move. Receivers, will be fine as well. All we need is 1 imp backup and 1 NAT backup there and we have that.

I think that anything is better than the Liberal plan, and I really dont know much about the NDP plan because they are Not Destined for Power. TBH, I think no party has a plan that will even remotely work until they commit to spending on and building the infrastructure necessary for green energy. My problem with the Liberal plan is it penalizes people instead of incentivizing people in order to make the change. Its the wrong approach imo. Ummm..not really...at least not according to today's poll numbers and the CPC got a big boost with Legaults endorsement today. That is really bad news for the Libs in Quebec where the electorate LOVES Legault.

Run blitz was used the entire 2Q and 3Q against us by SSK on running downs as well. It's a regular blitz but making sure each gap is filled along the OL. It's not a delayed blitz or a blitz through the same gap as a DL like many pass rush blitzes.

As the leader goes, so goes the party in an election campaign. The party does not deny man made climate change at all. That is a falsehood. The motion with that line in it was rejected at the convention by membership not because anyone is denying climate change, it was defeated because the proposition called for the party to commit to eliminating big oil and transitioning Canada into a green energy world leader. It was only narrowly defeated. That should tell you how many centrists reside in the CPC party. Yes, the Alberta/SSK faction is still strong within the CPC but it is losing it's grip. When a vote to eliminate big oil gains 46% approval at the convention it proves that this party is becoming increasingly closer to the centre. This country needs an economically responsible centrist government badly so I hope they continue down this path because the Liberals have taken a sharp turn left over the past several years.

Not sure why the RIders didn't see that coming. His drop off in 2019 from 2018 was a big one as well.
-
For sure. Everyone remembers the 10 yard runs but no one is remembering the half dozen times he was stopped for minimal gains before each of them. For the most part when they tried to utilize Powell they were left in 2nd and long. They need to challenge the flats more and spread our defence out. Bighill was teeing off all game long because the Riders tried to do everything between the tackles and didn't have the horses to make that happen.

The PPC has bled off most of the wackos. The Reform party was a regional party more than a wacko party. They tried to broaden their horizons to a more national approach by becoming the CA but were still more or less a regional party. They merged with the PCs and have increasingly lost their grip on the party. They are once again a national party and have been since Harper's majority. They are prone to the fear mongering by the Libs and NDP because of their association with the far right but have become increasingly middle C....to the point that it appears they have a legit shot at forming the next government...albeit a minority. Trudeau needs to return his party back closer to the middle of the spectrum. He has increasingly taken the party further and further left of centre to the point the centrists are now starting to view the CPC as the party most aligned to the middle of the political spectrum. That's a problem for the Liberals right now.

Their OL has been terrible at run blocking this season. Their OL is hot garbage. They really need an infusion of talent. If I were the Riders I might consider starting a 3rd IMP on the OL.
-
I would imagine the Riders will be attempting to do a whole lot different this week. Last week they pinned their hopes that their big boys could play with our big boys....they now know that is a surefire recipe for losing. This week I expect they will try to see if their skill players can beat our skill players. I expect a heavy dose of swing passes, slants, QB draws etc. from their offence. I expect them to be moving the pocket a lot more for Fajardo and I expect Fajardo to be throwing up a lot more 50/50 balls down the field. I expect their defence will play pretty similarly to how they played last week in the 2q and 3q and really look to key in on our short game by run blitzing and take the gamble that Collaros won't ball on them 2 weeks in a row down the field.

As long as they keep posting crap. and doing crap, like in the previous few posts the PPC will never be a threat to the CPC. The LIbs and NDP would like to believe that the CPC is over run with far right lunatics and that is simply untrue. The overwhelming majority of CPC support comes from small c conservatives. In fact, the vast majority of Canadians live in the middle of the political spectrum. It's why there is a healthy ebb and flow of support between the Liberals and CPC party. Both parties are middle of the spectrum primarily with different leanings slightly to the left or the right. It's why the NDP and PPC's of the world are never destined for power. It's why Reform/CA couldn't survive long term because the moderates they brought in found them to be wingnuts and pushed the party to merge back to the middle of the spectrum with the PCs. As a nation, we are neither as progressive or as far right as the extremes seen in the US. The PPC did a huge favor to the CPC by giving the far right wingnuts a place to park their voice and keep them out of their party's power circles, much the same as the Greens did the same many years ago by taking many of the far lefters away from the NDP allowing them to move a little more to centre and gain some support.

I am underwhelmed from what I have seen from Nelson thus far, and if Grant is a long term thing then we should be looking at other returners in practice. That being said, I don't feel there is any rush to get him out the door either. I don't mind him as a placeholder for Grant. I really want Grant back though. Our offence and punting game almost require us to have a dynamic returner that can flip the field once of twice a game and our defence is good enough that I trust they can minimize any damage from the odd fumble every few games. This is a season where the best team will be the one that can play winter ball. I like our chances. I would like our chance better with an elusive returner that demonstrated in 2019 he can play in the cold. This is a year like no other. Regular season games are going to be played into late November. I can't wait to see which teams wilt in the cold weather.

The PPC only draws support in areas that are CPC strongholds. If Bernier did not go all "tea party"ish he could present a threat to the CPC but in Canada his approach is just way too far right. There really isnt a huge far right voter presence here and those that favor him are unlikely to vote for him in any sort of swing riding. His party is a protest vote and right wingers tend to be far more practical then that.
-
Yea..in the West the CPC will lose some % points to the PPC. Luckily for them it will have almost 0 impact on their seat totals. The danger of the PPC to the CPC is what they could do in the East. However, support is west centric for PPC. If Bernier wasn't such a wingnut he could pose problems but he is..and won't get enough votes where it matters to be anything but an annoyance. Quite honestly if i were the CPC i'd be thrilled that the PPC is there to give the very small% of extreme right voters a place to park their support and not tarnish the CPC's hope of moving back towards the centre. In the demographics that matter such as the 905, GTA, and BC there will be virtually zero support for the PPC. The CPC, in order to gain seats there, must appeal to the centre of the political spectrum because there isn't much support for anything too far right of centre.

Through all the years of being a Bomber fan, the only time I ever felt embarrassed by our team was Mike Kelly era and it had nothing to do with the team on the field. From a football perspective rock bottom was probably in the Reinbold era, and from a franchise perspective it was Mike Kelly's one short year that turned us into a circus and laughing stock of the CFL. Taman was a middling GM who did OK but left a mess, I view him neither positively or negatively. High points to me were the Cal Murphy and Dave Ritchie era.
-
No...no it wasn't. That was rock bottom. I can put up with losing as a fan, but Mike Kelly was embarrassing to the brand.
-
Yep..me too. Although had I known they would replace him with Mike Kelly and follow that up with Joe Mack I might have been more forgiving.
-
Strev would have been well worth the 150-200k, that being said, congratulations Strev for making the AZ 53 man again.
-
Reggie Begelton is pretty much a lock for the Packer PR according to their fan forum. He was within a hair of making the 53 according to them. Just fan BS but some insight nonetheless.

If we are going defence from the NFL then let's bring back Winston Rose, who according to the Cinncy media will be toast at some point today.
