  1. I am unclear why he thinks a player cannot be released from a contract in the CFL? Does he think that if the Lions were to release him tomorrow that all CFL clubs could only pay him 80k? Lmao. He would be a FA, open to the highest bidder and that would include the Lions. This part of the CBA was only brought in to make sure rookie draft picks could not hold a gun to the head of the team that drafted them, and to allow a team to have 3 years of control of that draft pick should they so choose. There is absolutely nothing in the CBA that prohibits any team from releasing any player on their option and resigning them to a different deal. It is literally done all the time.
  2. With Farhan stating the Lions will be offering him a big raise to stay, and Dunk all but confirming it, I am not sure how you can suggest YOUR interpretation of how the CBA applies can be viewed as anything but thoroughly debunked. Any future argument you try to make will simply be you peeing into the wind. You can try if you want but no one here believes what you are trying to sell.
  3. Yep...as did Farhan earlier today on Sportscage in Regina....but didn't they read the mystery tweet with no time and author from a couple months ago? TBurg wanted a source that the Lions are looking to and can offer him a different contract. There are now 2 sources given but somehow we are the obnoxious posers? Smh. Thank you for debunking TBurg's insane Rourke arguments once and for all. He was not fully healed and was taking a big risk by his own admission. And my personal favorite...the Lions are trying to sign him to a new contract this off-season.
  4. There has been a TON of mentions in the RIder media about the Riders extending him this offseason. Forgot about KSB, he is under the same type contract as Rourke. Regina media seems to believe he has big dollars coming his way THIS offseason....but we are all wrong...the Regina media is wrong...and Farhan is wrong...because none of us understand the CBA and someone, can't recall who, tweeted something a few months ago about this. Didn't read a single word of this, won't read it because my time is too valuable to me. You are wasting your time, my mind is made up. So is yours apparently. You are just hanging onto a tweet that you can't remember who tweeted it or when or basically what is said as your proof while ignoring the fact that a team can terminate any contract at any time and replace it with a new one.
  5. Hey kumbaya and all that if it is your bag, a lot of us find hating the Argos this week to be very therapeutic and soothing to the soul. Next week I will go back to not caring one iota about them.
  6. Think Brendan got it wrong then. EDIT: Hamilton had it at 210k also....seems I had it wrong. I will freely admit it when it happens unlike some CBA quoting members on here. No doubling down on inaccurate info here.
  7. He signed here his first year for 165k. Didn't get his 200k until his 2nd year here. Either he came here for less money than the Riders offered or your numbers are off.
  8. I really didn't want to continue this but over at Riderfans they are saying that Farhan was on the Sportscage this morning and he believes that Rourke will receive multiple offers and will almost definitely take one of them and go to the NFL. He stated the Lions are putting together a new contract offer for him but he thinks Rourke will go to the NFL no matter what kind of money he is offered by BC., ....but,,,but,,,,but,,,,the Lions aren't allowed to offer him more money....CBA says....lmao
  9. They went with Wentz because they didn't feel Heinecke had the ceiling they wanted at QB. Wentz at one time was a very good QB, they tried to recapture some of it and the experiment failed. It's not because Heinecke was a UDFA or not....they just aren't that excited about him as their starter.
  10. He doesn't understand that the option year only exists to put a gun to a player's head IF a team so chooses. He doesn't get that no team is obligated to pick up the option....that is why the option year exists, it allows flexibility for both team and player. Only the first two years of a draft pick contract are mandated under the CBA. The third is the option. Not sure how much clearer it could be. He keeps pointing to the CBA saying that the option year he can only be paid this much....totally true...but doesn't recognize that option years of contracts can be opted out of by the team...HENCE THE TERM OPTION YEAR.
  11. There is zero proof of a single thing you have said. Not one iota....heard it on twitter...my god you are thick sometimes. If anyone is a poser around here it is you. Why don't you do everyone a favor and just shut the **** up. In case you haven't noticed everyone here has grown tired of your shtick. You went from a devil's advocate on here and have quickly ramped up to troll status in most people's eyes. You keep banging whatever damn drum you want about this, the rest of us will believe what we know to be true.
  12. NFL teams love their draft picks over UDFA's at any position. That's the way they roll. That being said, if a guy is good enough he will play. Also, Heinecke is starting this week, you can't blame them for taking a shot at Wentz but it seems that experiment has ended.
  13. I have zero issue with attending the LDC games in Regina. I've had a great time at any of them I've attended. However, the Grey Cup is beyond the scope, infrastructure, and ability of that city. It just is what it is, and they should not be hosting it for this reason. If this Grey Cup is in any other city I'm there. I would have even gone to Regina this year, even after my disastrous 2013 Grey Cup trip there, but there is absolutely no chance I am paying 600 bucks a night for a hotel room and 350 bucks a ticket and then have to lineup at restaurants for food, find liquor stores out of stock of anything remotely drinkable, get gouged for 10 bucks a beer no matter where I go, and have to call a cab 2 hours in advance and hope it shows up and no one steals it. None of that is fun.
  14. If disproving you is obnoxious than I'm guilty I guess.
  15. I would think the 3 Montreal Als voters, Herb Z being among them.
  16. You are going to need more than a lucky bounce or Any Given Sunday to beat us. We are the best in the league because we are the best at overcoming adversity. If the Argos show up and play their best football, get all the bounces, and the refs in their pocket you guys might hang with us for a while. Not trying to be arrogant, or a ******, just spelling out the reality for you. Be happy you made it this far, 7 other teams didn't....but this is where you face the first real team you have played in the playoffs. We are just that much better than you that the Argo bounce won't matter if we show up to play. Also, **** Toronto!
  17. Exactly. This is what TBurg is forgetting about the CFL. Contracts get torn up and new contracts filed all the time. All in the matter of a NY minute.
  18. My source on option years? You can't possibly be serious? If you want, my source is every contract extension ever to any player entering their option year in the history of the CFL. Should be a few thousand for you to look at.
  19. This is much ado about nothing anyway, 2/3 of the NFL have expressed an interest in Rourke and he has flat out stated that he is willing to bet on himself when it comes to the NFL and doesn't care about the money. The NFL is his goal...his words..not mine. The guy is gone at least until the end of this current contract. We will never know if BC could re-sign him or not because they will not get the chance to do so. 2/3 of the NFL interested? That's almost unprecedented level of interest for a CFL player. He will get an NFL contract for sure, and he is willing to take the gamble on losing money by doing so.
  20. TBurg is confused it seems. Earlier this season the BC Lions asked if they could tear up his current SPC to pay him more this year. They were declined because the player had not hit the option year yet. Only the first two years there is no flex in salary or term, the 3rd year is an option year for both team and player. This by the very definition of the term, allows for a new contract to be worked out. I have no idea why the hell TBurg is being so thick.
  21. You are wrong on both accounts. The Lions asked to be able to terminate his SPC THIS year to pay him more, this year before he hit his option and were declined. Option year only needs to be negotiated if the team chooses to pick up the option. If they do not, they can release him and re-sign him to a contract of their choosing but risk losing him to another team should Rourke decide to pull a fast one. You keep thinking that the option year is mandatory and it IS NOT. Please do us all a favor and look up what an option year is. You keep arguing that it is the only way Rourke plays with BC next year. It is not. The option year simply gives BC a team option to hold him to his rookie contract should they choose to do so.
  22. When they come calling you gotta take your shot. No doubt about it. Rourke could end up being Jon Jennings after another year in the CFL for all we know. If he legitimately wants to take a shot at the NFL, now is the time to do it. He is 24, he has many, many years to fall back on the CFL if necessary. NFL interest in him is unlikely to ever be as high as it is right now....good luck Mr. Rourke. Not a chance. Not major ones anyway. Those aren't fields down there....they are stadiums. I was in Texas about 15 years ago on a football coaching conference and toured a few of the high school stadiums. They had 10000 seats some of them. Now they have stadiums like Eagle Stadium in Allen Texas that seat 20k+ and would rival many CFL stadiums.
  23. The only way Rourke is back for 80k next year is if he has the dumbest agent of all time, or he himself is the dumbest guy of all time and chooses to do so. I don't think TBurg has even the smallest inkling of understanding about what an option year is. Yes, the team could force him to come back for 80k next year if they are monumental idiots and are prepared to almost certainly lose him to even the flimsiest NFL opportunity. Will they? I doubt it very highly. They work out terms for a new contract, then BC doesn't exercise it's option on the 3rd year and 5 minutes later sign him to a shiny new deal in free agency. Literally happens all the time with many players. You can't do it in the first 2 years of a draft pick rookie contract because it is the standard player agreement portion of the contract, but the whole reason they made the 3rd year an option year is so that teams didn't lose 3rd year NATS because of a wonky pay scale. It allows the team flex to renegotiate if they want to do so.
  24. I would never cheer for the RIders. EVER. I would rather gouge my own eyes out. If it came down to the scenario where the Riders were playing against Toronto here in Winnipeg for the Cup, I would attend and cheer for no one and just soak up the Grey Cup atmosphere. Spend a few bucks at the Rum Hut, hope for a good halftime show, and just more or less not pay much attention to the game. Visit with fellow season ticket holders etc. I would suspect that many of the Rider fans at the game in Regina will feel the same as I do. Revel in the Grey Cup atmosphere and cheer for good football from both teams. I don't suspect that many of the Rider fans will be overly invested in the game one way or another.
