  1. great news. I knew they always wanted a new scoreboard and HD upgrade but due to cost, i figured that would be down the road. Big expense. But will certainly improve things and maybe gives them the opportunity to bid for All Star Game, Draft etc.
  2. Not me, I saw it coming a mile away. Successful = evil. haha true...to many in this province. But we did elect the NDP for what seems like an eternity so I guess I shouldnt be surprised when successful, wealthy people are considered bad. God forbid Chipman worked hard to be a success. We should form a group, get some torches and pitchforks and storm MTSC and make Chipman give all his money to the have-nots.
  3. If Bowman sides with True North, it means hes been bought off. hahahaha if so, I'd hate to be True North. Im perplexed by the growing anti-Chipman feelings in this city. I guess when you have a large population of have-nots and wannabe socialists its going to happen that they begin to resent the successful people, as ludicrous as it is.
  4. Only problem is that Mark Chipman publicly endorsed Brian Bowman for mayor. My instincts tell me that Chipman expected something in return for that endorsement and that mayor Bowman will cave and allow TNSE to develop the land. I suspect Mr Bowman and Mr Chipman have spoken several times over the past couple weeks on this matter. We will see what kind of backbone our mayor has this week. RFP and he's got a backbone (although TNSE could still win the bid through the RFP), or council decides to give the contract directly to TNSE means Bowman is paying back a favour to Chipman. Will be interesting... Absolutely nonsense. This is the "dirty" aspect of politics. Someone endorses a politician and must be expecting a favour? Give me a break. There is absolutely nothing to indicate Chipman traded his endorsement for a favour. What it seems like is CV has a deal for a hotel project there. SOD claims they have a deal too. Let them both submit bids and let council pick one. Done and done. Supposedly SOD was having trouble finding a hotel partner and let CV know that. If CV turned around and did their own search and made a deal with TN and then SOD said hey wait we think we have a partner now, I can understand if CV was reluctant to throw away their work. Especially if SOd's partner isn't local like TN Not that I am defending CV at all. They got way too far away from their original mandate. Bowman will clean it up. If anything bowman will be tougher on Chipman to dissuade anyone from accusing him of a conflict. I see nothing that indicates bowman is Sammy. You are being very naive here. Election support from business in exchange for political favors happens ALL the time. But I sure hope you're right about Bowman treating Chipman tougher. No it doesnt happen ALL the time. We saw with Sammy that it DOES happen. But because Sammy was corrupt doesnt mean Bowman is. Because Shinidco made back room deals doesnt mean Mark Chipman will. Really this is sad and ludicrous. Argued with some moron on Twitter about this too with them claiming Bowman should have to recuse himself from all dealing with Chipman because they know each other. hey I voted for Bowman too so I guess I cant do business with the city. Its silly. Wait until they actually do something untoward before you tar and feather them. As it is, Bowman is likely to demand an RFP be issues for the site in question so he certainly isnt doing Chipman any favours if they think they made a deal with CV already.
  5. The commissioner will always take the blame but anyone who thinks Bettman is the devil after all this time is being dense. The commissioners job is not as easy as people think. He drastically increased revenue which was his main mandate. He expanded the league significantly. He won cost certainty for his owners. He increased television rights contracts.
  6. I agree. Why people get so pissy about it is beyond me. Don't like it? Don't watch IT.

  8. I FF'ed through most of the skills competition. I like the ones that are actual skill measurements like accuracy and slap shot. But all star weekend isn't really for people like us. It's for sponsors and kids.
  9. I have nothing against wade here and I understand all sides. My point is wade expressed unhappiness with why Bettman said and then confirmed what he said was accurate. It's simple. January is too cold. What the Bombers wanted for costs to keep Igf open for a feb date was too steep. It was November or December and the Bombers wouldn't open those dates due to grey cup.
  10. At what point do they wash their hands of Pavs? Or do they replace the coach? I thought they should have brought in a new coach ages ago to help with pavs
  11. Wade miller seems like a bit of a ****. I like that he takes exception to what Bettman said and then confirms what Bettman said was completely correct. He's out of his league.
  12. I thought they should have replaced the goalie coach after last year.
  13. Ofcourse the other option is to try and flip Harrison for a pick and keep Pardy as insurance.
  14. Im sure he's been waived at least once this year, no? Ofcourse the timing of the playoffs approaching and him being a UFA make him more attractive as a back up. I still think he'd clear. But you never know. If there is interest in him, hopefully the Jets can get their Harrison pick back for him.
  15. Had to really think about this ... does this mean you think he will clear? HAHA no kidding! I doubt Pardy is claimed. I DO believe he would clear down to the Rock.
  16. Exactly. Look at it as getting Frolik for nothing rather then losing him for nothing. Frolik has said he likes it here and wants to stay. Hopefully they make a deal.
  17. Some interesting perspectives. Can't remember who it was maybe Shane Hnidy who said it can impact morale if the team is battling and they don't try to bring in anyone to improve their chances. I think they will try to bring in a 3rd liner. Maybe a 4th also. Don't want term unless it's a good player because they have guys coming up next season. Bigger question is Frolik. I usually subscribe to the notion that you always trade if the guy is UFA and not coming back. But that would send a bad message. They will Keep him even if he bolts.
  18. Khari is just receivers coach? Hmmmm... are we keeping the QB coach? If not, lets make a play for Khari
  19. Yeah most likely a rental or a cheaper guy with term who is young. The teams trading probably would be interested in a guy like Postma (for example, Edmonton and Arizona should both value a player like him) but Im not sure it will happen. I agree a third line upgrade gives us three very solid lines and then a combination of Slater between Halischuk, Galiardi, Peluso, Thorburn gives us an "okay" fourth line for now.
  20. No, just that there will be other teams willing to offer much more than we should, so we won't get him. The interesting thing for the Jets is that Postma and Pardy represent the same "problem" and yet their situations should be handled quite differently. The optimum market for Postma is a team that is totally out of the playoffs and would like to land prospects. Pardy on the other hand, the most value we will get for him is to a cup contender, especially if there is one with some injury problem at their back end. He's big, has experience at this level, can easily slide into a 5-6 pairing and eat up 20 minutes of icetime, and has demonstrated a decent level of trustworthiness so far this season. If we didn't have so many bodies on the blue line, keeping Pardy for our potential playoff run would be a pretty good idea, but the numbers right now make that next to impossible. The logic says that we should get more for Postma as he's young and has offensive upside, but I suspect we can get more for Pardy - there will be several teams looking to add exactly that type of player for their stretch/playoff run. Postma has far more value in either scenario. He's been fairly steady but he also has something every team wants - he's a young puck mover with offensive upside. With Enstrom, Bogo, Buff, Trouba, Chiarot and Stuart on the back end, we have our "extra" guy in Harrison and one of Pardy or Postma. I suspect they dont trade either and end up waiving Pardy to the Rock (or trading him for a low draft pick).
