  1. OV is so lazy. Hanging out at the blue line. Sitting over by the slot just waiting for everyone to feed him. He takes the shot no matter what.
  2. I didn't say he was stuoid for putting value on liking where he plays. In fact I metioned that specific point. But he'd be crazy to give up a significant amount of money at this stage of his career.
  3. Great point. Terrible ooint. Hey Buff do you want a 7 year deal for $56 million or a three year deal for $18? If you don't take the lesser deal it's because you hate winnipeg. There's something to be said for being close to home and liking where you are but this is his last chance to cash in and make generational money. He might put a value on liking where he plays bits flat out stupid if that value is more than a few bucks.
  4. Make no mistake Buff can be a game changer. I hope he stays here forever. But it's going to be a difficult decision.
  5. Talk about twisting what someone wrote. Big difference between comparing wheeler and buff and buff and Myers. However if they could only keep one of buff or wheeler it would be wheeler. Like someone else said Buff is a luxury.
  6. It's also rare for Gary to talk rumours. If you listen to him a lot you can read between the lines of things he knows but can't or won't discuss "officially".
  7. Hardcore fans of anything always think they know better. It's not just Lawless. How many times do we post about which lines should be used or are critical of coaching or GM decisions. We always think we know better. Gary used to get ripped on more but the usual suspects would respond to his stories by insulting his weight or hair. I think we've managed to ridicule that out of most people so Gary isn't ripped as much. I started out not liking him years ago. But really when he says something controversial and you take a moment to not instinctively get angry, he's probably making a lot of sense. There is no one more connected in sports in this city than Gary Lawless.
  8. I'll be in the suite at the red line woot woot. Who starts in net?
  9. Gary just mentioned this same thing that there are many people who want the league or PA to create a capgeek in honour of Matthew
  10. Ladd is good and I like him but as far as being the captain and the straw that stirs the drink, Wheeler is the guy.
  11. If for some reason it became and either/or, they would keep Myers, all things being equal (ie. him not wanting to leave). Thats the right move to make from a business perspective. Emotionally, sure, Buff. But Myers is younger, cheaper, better contract (for now) and we could debate their talent all day.
  12. I hope you're right. As much as I like Minnesota. Wild and Jets with the last two spots and end up in the conference final would likely result in a lot of OT for border security.
  13. Thats really the issue. Once they extend Trouba which they will since he will be RFA in a couple years, are you going to pay THAT much money for your three RHD? Myers makes Buff expendable to a degree, as much as I hate to say that. But I do think extending Ladd and Buff this summer is huge because do you really want to go into the deadline next year with two key players that could bolt if you dont sign or trade them? That would be a huge distraction and if the Jets fought for a playoff spot, fell short and then lost both guys for nothing, that would be a disaster.
  14. A player going into rehab, i believe, is subject to the NHL's substance abuse program and thus would very likely be well known to the public since I think they have to apply for reinstatement. You're naive to think otherwise. Yeah right, Trouba wasn't hurt. He was in rehab. lol
  15. Very sad news. As far as his impact on hockey, who didnt use capgeek? Heard Bettman say NHL fans didnt want a capgeek style site on the NHL website. How wrong. When every sports journalist in North America was openly linking to a non-NHL approved site for information, it would make a lot of sense for the league to have their own version. If im the league, I approach his estate about buying the name in exchange for a charitable donation or something to that effect and honour the guy.
  16. Since Buff and Little are both out longer than we had been led to believed, I think they might play tomorrow. Perrault probably not until April. But if the team is winning, there isnt as much urgency for guys to come back before they are 100%.
  17. I dont think it's a forgone conclusion. Both players are approaching the sweet spot for signing the biggest contracts of their careers and both would stand the chance of getting more money or longer term by going to Free Agency next summer.
  18. Stafford's agent will surely be telling him to go to free agency. If he continues to play the way he is playing, his price will go up. But some guys want to be where they want to be or else every player would go to free agency and never sign early. Hopefully he stays. Maybe the Minnesota Mafia will all want to stay together. It might lower Ladd's price a bit because signing Stafford would give Ladd less leverage as far as having little to no depth on the LW. Myers does the same for Buff. Have to think of Ladd, Buff, Frolik, Stafford that two of them will be back...maybe three. But all four?
  19. Well said. Sums it up pretty nicely now hopefully this topic can go away. But i do think it's a bit naive to think that these guys aren't out there doing some stuff that would make you shake your head. It's just, i guess, kids look up to these people, big time, they are heros to thousands of kids, they do all this good stuff, do work with charities, sick kids etc, I mean good for them right but... it doesn't mean they are the greatest people in the world. Not comparing hockey players to Hells Angels but... Just cuz Hells Angels do work with charities and sick kids doesn't mean they aren't out there killing people also. If a Winnipeg Jets player murders someone, then Im all for the info coming out. And guess what, the news will cover it so we wont need Anonymous Goofball to detail it for us.
  20. Yes and No. The Kane rumours were rampant to the extent the NHL conducted an investigation and local media wrote a story. But thats why media covered it - not because of goofballs on twitter and the dirty but because once the NHL conducted an investigation, it was mainstream news. The Kane concussion rumours were pretty widespread. I "heard" them from people I generally trust but the fact is, local media did cover the "uniqueness" of the Kane concussion with some suspicion and if there had been an ounce of truth to the rumours, I have little doubt the story would have been told. if a player enters drug rehab or is charged with a crime, it's going to be covered. We have heard stories of players being found to have addictions after the fact, generally pain killers which would be looked up less severely than a street drug but we have also seen stories of players entering league-mandated programs. It isnt black and white that "all stories will be covered up so these 'friend of a friend of a friend who knows a guy whose cousin knows a cop who's friend's wife's mother's son's buddy was right there when it happened' rumours have to be true. In fact, they are mostly likely not at all true. I was told a rumour last year about the Bombers that was straight from the mouth of one of the coaches. Guess what, it turned out not to be true. The thing I find odd is how certain people here are so adamant in their desire to spread nonsense. Seems like big man syndrome to me....boasting of knowledge and contacts that no one can disprove and rumours no one can disprove when common sense tells you they are 99% unlikely. Like the Pavs' DUI....it wasnt goofs on twitter that spread the rumour. The media broke the story because it was news. Everyone knew Charles Roberts "liked the nightlife" but was it news? Nope (other then the Grey Cup). Today it would be all over twitter and still, who would really care? Like whats the point? I knew a Bomber with an STD because he dated my ex. Is that fair game? I think it's ridiculous that "fans" would foster this nonsense. And I say it again, if you want to put your real name to a rumour and name the source, have at it.
  21. Thank you for answering my question. Seems you are either under the age of ten (which would be an excuse for you're immaturity) or are just very dense. But please, point out where I discussed anything slanderous in regards to Joe (can't recall discussing drugs, affairs etc). perhaps you can refresh my memory. Better yet, why not just accept that you are wrong so we can all move on. :-)
  22. Says the guy who bad mouthed Sam Katz in the past with no sources Are you ten years old or actually this dense? Ill let you think about the difference between Mayor Katz and a Jets hockey player for awhile. Maybe it will come to you.
  23. Stafford and Myers sure give the Jets some options this off-season. I wonder how Stafford feels and if he will go to free agency or negotiate with the Jets - he's got to like playing with these young guys. If he could extrapolate over an entire season what he's done since coming here, its pretty exciting. Myers flat out gives the Jets options when considering Buff's future and you get the strong impression that if Trouba is a lifer, how are they going to pay that entire right side D? Myers play might make it a moot point.
  24. And no one claimed they were all angels. You just seem to have a unique level of jealously or something and are determined to sully them. No one here cares about you're stories and sources.
