My favourite comment about this on Riderfans was that this was a precursor to a trade. Pretty funny to see other posters there explaining that you can't trade a guy you just released.

Gives the Riders a pretty weak group of receivers: Roosevelt is really good but the rest is Holley/Williams-Lambert/Evans/Stanford which is pretty underwhelming.

Three fun facts for this Saturday morning: 1. Winnipeg has 17 touchdowns scored by their national players (Harris-8, Demski-4, Wolitarski-4, Lafrance-1). 2. Winnipeg has allowed 170 points in 8 games, the Riders have allowed 175 in 7 games. That is right, Winnipeg has allowed 5 less points and played one more game than the much vaunted Riders D. 3. Demski is the second leading national receiver behind Sinopoli.

Defense played well, ST played well, Nichols did not.

Average attendance thus far is 26,380. This is right in line with many past seasons. As a point of comparison, we were 14-4 in 2001 with an exciting team. Average attendance was 27,033 and they blacked out home games back then. 2002 we were 12-6 and we averaged 27,559. Blackouts for home games that year too. 2003 we were 11-7 and average attendance was 27,225 and still home games blacked out. I don't think blacking out home games would make an impact on attendance.

I'd rather not go back to those days and you know what, average attendance wasn't better in the home games blacked out era.
