I agree. Never before have I seen "all in" in an exhibition football game.
It's both scary and intriguing.
Burke's decision making has been questioned in the past.

I don't believe I have ever seen a coach committing to so many rookies and leaving so many rookies behind.
It's either bold or crazy or both.
Inspired by this, I've taken the unusual position of assigning a rookie radio listener to listen to the play by play.

Burke just stated on CTV news that there was a noticeable decline in his training camp performance and that, with his drop in performance last year, led to this decision.
So clearly, he was given another chance to step up..and he didn't.

If I were saying 'ra ra ra Jade Etienne will be a perennial All-Star' and that turned out to be wrong I'd say you have a case. I can only speak for myself, and I was preaching patience in opposition to those writing him of as 'too weak' or 'too frail' as if anyone could possibly know how tough the kid really is from the bleachers.
The guy was taken on potential alone. If he lives up to that potential then anyone who would have cut him in the past couple years based on their preconceived notions about how long players should be allowed to develop before being considered a bust... can go suck a lemon.
And that's the difference right there. Some fans were only supporting young Etienne, not hovering over him waiting for him to fail.

at this point, I have an incredibly open mind. I don't know if he'll do well or tank. But at least you guys could do the same, and give the kid a chance. All the pissing and moaning about JE over the past two years has been ridiculous. You guys just constantly set yourselves up for a fall.

Let's face it. Buck's QB qualities do not include quick releases and standing firm in the pocket. He needs to move around and run, but he is no longer capable/able to perform like Buck of old.
Can this ploy of Crowton/Burke work?
I'll be pleasantly surprised if it does.

Releasing a veteran in the secondary is a bold move for a team that's unsure of it's identity and coming off a poor performance.
We've really got to hope that somebody knows what they're doing.

Hopefully we can get enough mileage out of Pierce that one of our backups has enough time to learn and rise to the occasion because honestly that's our only hope.
And there it is. This is exactly what we need. Enough time out of Pierce so as someone, anyone, has the time to step up. It really is about the next one stepping up, right soon.
