As an alternative, one can stream CJOB through the iPhone app if you can't pick up CJOB or one of their stations.

That's all well and good for people with unlimited data plans, but some of us live in provinces where they rape you for using data.

As compared to 0.8% to 7.4% more income tax, an additional 8% PST on everything you buy and nearly double property tax?  I think I'd rather pay for data.  At least it's a choice whether you use it or not.

If you have unlimited minutes and long distance, give me a call and I'll put my phone near the radio.

  2.

I dropped my Sirius subscription this year.

    My reasoning was:

    1. I couldn't justify the cost.  2. I live in civilization again (more than 1 regional FM radio station).

    2. Nickel and Diming... $18 per month, $4 for streaming on web, $$$ extra for stations, $$$ gov't music artist tax, etc...

    3. The audio quality is still the same as it was when I signed up in 2005.  Their hardware needs an upgrade.

    4. In the past couple of years, they've made it difficult to find the CFL games.  Channels changed all the time, titles didn't match the coverage, etc.  As an alternative, one can stream CJOB through the iPhone app if you can't pick up CJOB or one of their stations.

I'll go on the record and state I just don't like Romby Bryant and it has nothing to do with what football ability he may or may not have left.

If Romby Bryant had told Mike Kelly to go fork himself in the locker room, I would've been suggesting we throw him a parade. But he quit on the field. Visibly gave up.

I don't pay to watch guys living out their personal vendettas on the field. I also don't think it's fair to his teammates.

If he wears the uniform again, I won't boo him but I won't be sad if he doesn't pan out and if he does, when he's replaced either.

Well, I might boo him if he dresses for our club. Because Bryant clearly quit on his team-mates last time he was here and in my opinion he doesn't deserve to ever again wear a Blue Bombers jersey. It also bugs me that current management shows such obvious disregard for recent history - and disrespect for fans and former players. They may not be mindful of that - new slate etc. but to bring in a player like Bryant, who demonstrated an utter lack of professionalism while here, borders on arrogance more than desperation. Such arrogance is not a good sign and will inevitably boomerang on Walters, O'Shea and Bellefeuille down the road.

You guys have no idea of what a total schmuck Mike Kelly was.

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to play for him.

You can try and spin it any way you like and no doubt current brain trust will try to do exactly that. But you know what? We've all worked for idiots from time to time. That's no excuse. You still do your job, unless, as demonstrated, you are me-first selfish. Bryant had 20 catches for 232 yards and no touchdowns through 11 games the year Kelly punted him to Stamps. We can do better than Romby Bryant, and bringing him in now is an insult to Bomber supporters and his former team-mates in Winnipeg.

After 4 games, the team had 521 yards passing!  Through those 4 games, Edwards lead the team with 134 yds receiving, Romby had 96 yards.  Can't blame Romby.

    Out passing leaders were

    Game 1 S.Lefors 174

    Game 2 S.LeFors 156

    Game 3 S.LeFors 99

    Game 4 S.LeFors and R.Williams 30 each

The entire team week in and week out quit on Tim Burke last season why is no one bitching that we brought back so many of them? Time to get over it, Kelly was a dink and alienated more than one player who isn't a problem player.

Tim Burke's teams were flat out of the gate, poor in the 2nd quarter, and then never the right adjustments coming out of the half, and put points on the board in the 4th after the game was out of reach.

The last game of the season was horrible.

  4.

And that's just it. People crapped all over Mack for not bringing in experienced players. Now we are (and lets not forget, it's a work out, he hasn't even signed a deal) and people are still crying. You can't have it both ways. Is Romby the player he was in 2008 for us? Obviously not, but for those whining and complaining about our scouts, these are the same guys who had Drew Willy evaluated higher over Burris and Collaros (regardless of what anyone thinks about how it all played out) found Paris Cotton, and have brought in guys like Maurice Leggett and Bruce Johnson, so forgive me if I take their evaluations over the geniuses implying the entire scouting class this year was a failure.

Technically, we did make a major play for Burris...

Burris was the only starting QB available at the time.  Same goes for Collaros before him.  We then made a trade for Willy, and he was the only FA QB available for us to negotiate with.  Technically speaking, of course...

  7. Bandwaggoners? Jets sell out and they're not a playoff team. Averaged about 30,000 the past two years for a 9 and 27 team.

Let's look at the history for the City of nearly 700,000 people...

NHL in the 90's ... team left

Blue Bombers in the 90's ... team nearly extinct

Goldeyes... Attendence has been great, teams have been always competitive

WHL team .... wait there is none.

MJHL teams ... From St James, St B, and Winnipeg South Blues, to now just the Winnipeg Blues who many times get 150 fans at the MTS Ice Plex

CIAU U of M ... Hockey okay, football low attendance, basketball low (50 to 200, maybe 400 when U of W show up), volleyball better than basketball

    CIAU U of W ... Basketball better than U of M, Volleyball (I don't know)...

    What am I missing here?

  8.

    The 10 problems are:

    1.   Winnipeggers are CHEAP.  Don't want to pay for tickets.

    2.   Winnipeggers = Bangwagoneers - they only like supporting winning teams.

    3.   Winnipeggers are CHEAP.  Beer is cheaper at home

    4.   Thursday game prior to a 4 day long weekend.

    5.   Mike Buble - Parents gotta pick up the daughters at 10 pm.

    6.   Winnipeggers are CHEAP.   Winnipeggers don't want to pay the $2.55 bus fare to get to and from the stadium.

    7.   Winnipeggers like making excuses (every reason not to go - Thursdays - weeknight, Fridays - cabin, Saturdays - socials, Sunday - NFL, etc)

    8.   Dauphin Countryfest

    9.   Cabin Country

    10. Winnipeggers are CHEAP.

  9. Brohm was terrible in the NFL, especially while he was on the Packers' roster.

I saw him in the preseason of his rookie year and he looked worse than a rookie quarterback should. Since then, I've had an interest in his development and can't say that I've seen a whole there.

It'll be interesting to see how well he does in the CFL, but I'm not getting my hopes up prematurely.

Kerwin Bell is the NFL's historical QB Rating leader.  5 for 5, 75 yards, 1 TD, 158.3 QB Rating.

In the CFL, Kerwin's claim to fame is spiking the ball and sacking himself.

Small sample sizes from the NFL mean little in the CFL.

  10.

Over the last 2 years, our pass defence was terrible.  Absolutely terrible.  Bo Levi Mitchell was 29 for 33 for 376 yards in his first career start.  Whomever on here says our defence was great, needs to put their glasses on and take a look back.

Why was it terrible?  One big reason was that our offence last year was equally terrible.  If the defence does not get a rest, they will not produce.

The offense will be improved this year.  The defence will keep us in games.  Give these guys a chance.  If we listened to everyone on the board, we'd have a new coaching staff every 6 weeks, and the backup quarterback would continuously supplant the starter (every game).

  11.

How can you say anything about where this team ranks compared to years past without one meaningful game being played? I get your concerns but come on.

Just comparing Bomber's peformance compared to all the other meaningless games for other teams.  Sask and Ottawa both looked more prepared than we do.

But, yeah, this team reminds me of 2010...  the guys love the coach and respect him but its just not there.

Sask and Ottawa were more prepared.  They had 5 more days of practice and one less game prior to this one.

People, we have to remember that we have a new coach, new DC, new MLBs and a new defensive system.  Wild, Kuale, Newman, etc. need to get used to the DL and where the gaps will be for them to fill on running plays.

  12.

Well, I really enjoyed the Dance Team's first number...  Freeze!

    - Wild had a hard time finding the back.  At first, front four had no pressure, put DBs in a tough spot.  Vanilla Defense plays may have had something to do with it.

    - Willy had some nice throws

    - DE with the green shoes either has some oddball sized feet, or won't be sticking around long enough to deserve a pair of white shoes.

    - Markett was trying to ball hawk again.

    - Didn't notice Kuale.

    - Cotton looked okay.  Woods looks to be a future game breaker.

    - Brohm is wearing #12.  Didn't Kerwin wear #12?  Even though he'll never have Kerwin's NFL stats (5 for 5, 75 yds, 1 TD, 158.3 QB rating), he worked through his issues.

    - Marve looks good.  His Uncle on here may be right - Marve looks to be the real deal.  Was that Jordan Yantz giving him advise on the bench?

    - I liked when the Bombers went for 2, and O'Shea pretty much man handled Blake (the long snapper) to stay at the bench prior to the play.

Kuale not being noticed isn't shocking.. Guys hurt and wasn't playing lol

    Makes sense then.

I haven't been to any practices, wasn't sure who was wearing what number, and had trouble reading names through the braids on a number of players.  My view of the front seven on the bench was a little restricted.

MOS spoke glowingly of Jake Thomas today in his press conference.

To be fair, MOS speaks glowingly of everyone.

Exactly.  What is coach supposed to say?  The truth?  That Jake Thomas is nowhere near starter level.  At best a back up that can play maybe 10-15 snaps a game.

    He makes plays http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/rookie-defensive-lineman-thomas-making-big-impact-with-bombers/article4445701/

Just like Wayne Weathers, Dave Donaldson (always around the loose ball) and other spot Canadians we've had in the past.  You need these types of guys to win.

  15.

I recall Miller stating that he wanted something where the City takes care of the city buses going to games, something that was done for Canad Inns and currently with the Jets and Goldeyes. Then the bombers would negotiate their own deal with the shuttle services.

Would be great if the Bombers should bought their own buses and painted them blue and gold with the logo everywhere, but I'm sure that would cost some pretty pennies.

What do you mean?  The city doesn't provide any extra service for Jet or Goldeye games.

I have a feeling that the announcement is going to involve some private shuttle buses from lots on Pembina, and some park and rides around the city.  The Bombers might have to get the all clear to use the parking lots for the park and ride.

It will be very hard to put anything substantial together without Winnipeg Transit buses.

Winnipeg Jets get $6.9 million in tax breaks... soon to be $11 million per year.  http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/millions-to-aid-true-north-141154603.html
