O'Shea has a ton of playing experience, has played on teams with many of the premier QBs in the CFL (Dunigan, Flutie, McManus, Allen, and NFL all time QB Rating Leader, Kerwin Bell).  He's played with/for some of the CFLs most outstanding coaches/GMs Don Matthews, Jim Barker, Ron Lancaster, Kent Austin, Pinball Clemons, Rich Stubler, and Eric Tillman.  We've got to assume some of that experience/talent/knowledge/leadership rubbed off on O'Shea.

He's definitely shown he knows the intricacies of the CFL game, knows how to play (MV Canadian), and knows how to have a long and storied career.  I think he'd be a great pick-up.

Hall has as much upside as any QB we have had since Glenn left us ... the next couple games will be revealing ... if he can keep passing for over 300 yards in the next two games  then maybe we don't have to spend our number one draft pick to acquire Drew Tate before the expansion draft

No, we need to get a proven qb like Tate. Or one with a big upside like Collaros. If guys like Collaros or Tate are available the Bombers have to pursue them. That being said, I like Hall a lot & he'll provide really good competition at the qb position next year.

Why all the love for Tate?  He makes Buck Pierce look indestructible!  Tate has never thrown more than 158 passes in a year.  That's like 3 games for Ricky Ray or Calvillo.

At least we'd be able to get more sponsorship... Johnson & Johnson Bandaids, Advil, etc.

Again, people need to understand that returning kickoffs and returning punts are two very different things...very different skill sets.

One that JJ sucks at doing yet still does.

I think JJ fields punts just fine.  If you look back at his work from previous years, he's come up with big kick returns when the team needs it.  He's smart, catches the ball in the air, and doesn't put himself in a position of taking a huge hit/getting injured.

So why isn't Elliott starting anywhere then ?

Winnipeg had no use for him and now BC has no use for him.

Elliott had more wins and more pow then anyone we have now. He also could throw more then 300 yards ints and not.

Elliott had one more win last year than Goltz and the same number as Buck.  Not sure why you guys love him so much. Especially when actual facts are introduced.

Cleo Lemon started 25 games in the CFL and won 11.  IMO he should be signed and start over Elliott.

When considering a vet that might be available, I have a short list....all are really stop gap, not long term solutions.

    Free Agents:

    Porter

    Jyles

    McPherson

    Jackson (Jarious)

    Brink

    Available by trade (speculative)

    Elliot

    Joseph

    Glenn

    My guess would be Jyles.

No way in hell Glenn is going to get traded by Calgary... not a chance.   Me thinks Tate would be more likely purely because they don't want his injury issues.

How can everyone keep forgetting about Cleo Lemon?  He's available, as well as Coach Bart Andrus.

There has got to be more to the story...

    Here are my theories:

    a)  Goltz has an injury that they don't want to make worse

b ) The Bombers want to evaluate Max Hall

    c)  Marcel Bellefeuille wants to evaulate Crowton's offense

    d)  Another team wants to evaluate Max Hall (trade bait)

    e)  The Bombers want to make sure that Max Hall can play (so they cut Pierce outright before Aug 31)

    f) Team has no idea what they're doing

    G) The Bombers are currently in negotiations with Sam Canadian

  8. I've sat thru worse conditions over the years at Winnipeg Stadium. Sat thru -25C temps & blizzards. Rain, sleet, etc. That was the worst crowd I think I've ever seen. Football fans are supposed to be tough & not wimps.

Sitting on the west side for the really rainy game last year (can't remember which one it was), CanadInns Stadium looked less than half full on the east side. This was with covered seating areas.

The Oilers have been sold out for years.  Last year was a great year for getting rid of extra tickets.

  9. In al lmy years watching the CFL, I've never seen a crowd(?) like that ever in Edmonton. That was like watching the old Alouettes just before they folded in 1982 & had crowds like that at the Big Owe. If that isn't the fanbase sending a message to the Eskimo front office I don't know what is. Thing is, these spoiled Eskimo fans should spend time in Winnipeg to know what real suffering is. Hervey gave Kavis Reed a new contract extension!! Wow. Clueless. He's as useless as a HC as he was when he was a defensive coordinator.

It was pouring rain, 18 C at game time, then down to 11 during the third quarter.  Commonwealth only has about 8 rows at the top of the bottom bowl with cover.

I would not take yesterday's "fans in the seats" as any indication as to the health of the franchise.
