I'd bring Joey back, but he'd have to make the job fair today at the stadium.  He'd be a great improvement for the team.  The free t-shirts and after TD footballs we get to those fans near the top row.

Neither guy is gonna be fast-tracked into the Hall of Fame. Even the Bomber hall of fame!

Today's job fair was for game day volunteers.

Either way, how many people were racing to the table to put up the money?  Thats a good deal for the Bombers if they get a $350,000 press box in exchange for advertising.  A very good deal in deed.  its clear Asper loves this team.  Regardless of whatever, he's the type of guy I like having around because he bleeds blue & gold.

How is it a good deal exactly??

If the Bombers had gone through the proper process of hiring the proper firm, one with experience in designing stadiums, like the Riders are doing, instead of hiring Asper's buddy Ray Wan (he of no experience in designing stadiums) to design IGF, then they wouldn 't have needed to spend an additional $350,000 to build a proper pressbox - it would have been designed and constructed correctly the first time around.

There sure is a lot of talk on the internet about great the new Roughrider stadium is and how it's on budget.  Remind me again... is it done?

The group that is designing the stadium first estimated Cowboy stadium at $650 million... The final bill was way over $1 billion.

  3. He showed a lot of promise but it's too early to say if he's good enough to be an eventual starter. What I liked is the last 3 games of the season he didnot throw an interception  & was good at not giving up the football. But we also need to explore other options at qb as well which is what we're doing.

Why does everyone forget this game????  This was the worst game I went to in Winnipeg.  3 minutes into the 2nd half, I went to the store, then walked to my car.

Wait until we start 2-7 and see what Lawless says.  He will turn like he always does and try to say he said it all along.  All this article is about is Lawless telling us how smart he is and stupid the Bombers have been.

About the Sinopoli thing, maybe Mack was trying to be funny with Gary...as in, who wants a canadian QB?

One thing about our staff he leaves out is a 71 year old QB with no CFL experience.  Not huge, but still he left it out.

I'm not getting too excited.  I've been let down hard before.  I'll wait and see what they can prove on the field.

    Just playing devil's advocate here.

Wow. I must have missed the signing of a 71 year old QB!! Who did we get Ploen back?? :)

You missed the signing of the QB coach?

5'10" is about the minimum for the position. Physically, there should be little difference between players at this level, so giving away 2 inches is a big deal.

Suber has proven to be a good tackler but id' rather not have to rely on him chasing down bigger stronger receivers all game.

A player who is 5'10" and is as fast as, as physical as, and can cover as well as Suber doesn't start for the Bombers - he's in the NFL. Be realistic about what you want from your CFL secondary. If Suber was 3 inches taller he'd be Brandon Browner.

Shouldn't you have said, "If Suber was 9 inches taller he'd be Brandon Browner."

  6.

Just have to play using 6 receiver sets.

Anyone else notice a lack of a starting RB on the roster?

do you realize it's still 3 months to go before TC? the bombers are still conducting free agent camps in the US.

new players will be signed. just wait. stop being a troll.

I was being seriously.  Take a chill pill.

It worked for us a lot of the time in 2000 when Khari took over the controls.

  7. Why are we losing out on so many players that could fill holes & make us competitive (like McCune if he signs elsewhere) when we are supposedly flush with money? Are we cheaping out again? Other teams can sign these players but we can't. It's always about the money, it seems. We give a "final offer" & sit back & someone signs a player or a coach we want right in front of our frigging noses. I'm beginning to think things haven't changed & the excuses will be starting real soon. Well, they already have... What a crappy off season.

It may have to do with being 3 - 15 last year and  still being a team with a lack of proven CFL QB experience on the team.

  8. Jeffrey Bannon's house was driven through last night.  Buck Pierce's social is the reason why he wasn't home.  Sidenote... The plates on the van do not appear to be WBB plates.

Van rips through Garden City home, BY TESSA VANDERHART ,WINNIPEG SUN

A car crashed through a Garden City home early Sunday, nearly taking down the entire property.

Homeowner Jeffrey Bannon says it's lucky no one was home at the time and no one was injured. But it was a jarring phone call to get at 1 a.m.

"We were returning from Buck Pierce's wedding social, and we got the call on the way home that our house was on fire," Bannon says.

But the alarm company didn't have it quite right.

"When we arrived we saw the fire truck from down the street … when you got closer you realize the alarm company didn't say anything about a van in our living room."

It was six feet away from driving straight through to the other side of the home.

Now Bannon, the Winnipeg Blue Bomber director of retail and promotions, is just waiting.

"We had to wait for police to get the man (the driver) out of there before we were allowed in," he says. The driver was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

"A couple hours later the tow truck pulled the van out."

There's extensive damage to Bannon's living room, dining room, kitchen, structural damage to the garage and possible damage to the home's foundation.

"He literally took out the wall between the living room and the kitchen. He was six feet away from going through the entire house," Bannon says. "I've never seen anything like it."

He hopes to be allowed back in later Sunday to get clothes and his kids' homework to bring back to the in-laws; the children, eight and 11, also weren't home at the time.

"The sad part is, if we would have been home, I wouldn't be talking to you right now. Because we sit on the couch — that he destroyed — to watch TV," he says.

"But at the end of the day, the driver walked away, we walked away. It's just stuff that can be replaced."

Bannon hopes to meet with his insurance agent Monday to discuss a damage estimate. In the meantime emergency cleanup crews have fortified the house and cut off power.

Police are not currently contemplating charges.

"Whether it was road conditions, a medical situation, I don't know, but I don't see any indication at all of alcohol being involved," said Const. Eric Hofley, a police spokesperson.

  9. We actually didn't trade Etienne for WIlly... we traded Etienne for a conversation with Willy.  That equals bust.

Everyone would have lost it if we traded a first round pick to talk to a guy who we could sign a week later...  desperate times.

Well, actually, actually we traded a conversation with Etienne for a conversation with Willy.  That does not equal bust.

  10.

We just have to wait for the Buffalo Bills to move to Los Angeles, then we could have a team in Buffalo.

In the meantime, Quebec City is probably the next best location.  If we are looking at smaller cities, why hasn't Saskatoon ever been considered?

Because the Roughriders would never allow it. For whatever reason their provincial pride is tied to the roughriders so people in Saskatoon are fans of the riders, would they all of a sudden start supporting the Saskatoon Berries? I doubt it.

I was thinking the Saskatoon Rough Riders...  The Berries wouldn't work unless Doug Berry was the coach.
