Around The League Off Season Discussion
Bigblue204 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think this is a unique situation though. It's not often you're going to find players getting paid a less than a 1/4 of what their peers get for playing the same position and being a starter. Jennings deserves more and I hope Wally refuses to give it him. Cause that means Lulay is starting and that is Great for the bombers! -
couldn't agree more. I work for a large company and we just had a new long term plan rolled out. Management started their introduction of said plan by completely pumping the tires of every single aspect of the company. Even ones that everyone knows didn't do too well this past year. But what else could we expect? This is what a business does to attract the right people and the right mind set, and to get customers to buy in. The bombers and the CFL are no different in that aspect. They are a business selling a product. You don't sell things by always looking back at past mistakes/bad outcomes. That's a horrible game plan. Be positive, sell your vision.

Darren Cameron Blog (for discussion): "Patience Is A Virtue"

Um, no he didn't. The CFL said we did and changed the title of his article. -
Oh boy, someone else thinks Tebow could make it here

Yeah he's on MTL neg list. But his biggest issue is his arm. So not sure how coming to a throwing league would help out. But it would be interesting. -
Yup, I enjoy reading his articles for the most part, cause I'm a homer. But it's pretty clear what his deal is. Getting all upset about it, is silly.

it's almost like the games are different and different player abilities/styles/sizes can make one better suited to one game compared to the other.... -
but then they would still have 50% of their games were they technically could have an advantage over their opponents. That's significant enough not to do it.

has the CFL played any preseason games in stoon?

700,000 over? You had better be World beaters for that price -
While I appreciate the effort. The problem with this is. THIS IS THE CFL. Believe it or not, most people don't want it to become the NFL. I don't want to watch my team play NFL rules ball (because it's boring, yeah I said it. It's the truth). I'm a fan of the CFL, because of what it is. Not what it could be or what "businessmen" would want it to be. If you can't see why playing NFL rules for some games, then CFL rules for others won't work at all. I suggest you actually take an interest in OUR league and learn why that's one of the most ridiculous things we've heard around here...maybe ever. The CFL motto for a few years summed it up perfectly. "This is our League".

Yup, anonymous player speaks out about stuff that has been an issue in the league going on decades. And discussed for hours on end every year on and on and on. He’s right, it’s not the most Ideal set up. Not sure why there isn’t league revenue sharing. I feel like that would probably help the league in general (though I don’t know the details of why or why not). But saying that, it’s hard to stomach giving up that cash when you see the revenues of teams like TO. The league could probably afford to give out more money for player salary. But this is the first time in a while that they’ve been in a position where they are making money on a regular basis. Yes it’s nice right now, but that after a long time of uncertainty and even some instances where the future didn’t even look like it would happen. But like he said, this is a game. If you really want change, then CHANGE. Do something else with your time. You’re in a position of privilege and bitching about it like this doesn’t lend you an ounce of creditability. It’s a joke. And a slap in the face to the people who have jobs that don’t include games. The fact he decided to remain anonymous, for me, takes away even more creditability. You want to be taken seriously but you don’t have the guts to speak out and stand behind what you’re saying? And you want more of money? Lol he must be joking! You want to be treated like a pro? Act like one. Yup it might end your career. But if he really cared that much, if he really wanted to change things. He’d take that risk. He’d be willing to give up his career to make the future brighter for others. To show others they can speak out too. But no, remain behind a curtain and keep trying to cash in. I love this game. I love the CFL. But if push comes to shove. It’s nowhere near the top of my priorities. It is near the top of first things to stop if I were to hit hard times. We all have to make hard choices in life. My dream job, one that I personally found more fulfilling and quite frankly more important than the job I’m doing now paid me horribly. Like living near the poverty line horrible. But my passion for it and love for it allowed me to make the changes in my life needed to live off of that, it wasn’t easy. And at times it was really frustrating and extremely stressful. And when it just wasn’t feasible anymore. I made a tough choice and changed industries. Welcome to ADULTHOOD you “professional”.

I forgot about Carlos Anderson. Wonder how his injury rehab has gone. He looked like a real threat when he did play.
-
certainly a tough start. If we can start 3-3 I would take it!

thought he had a better year than Turner. Sad to see him go, was one of my favorites. Best of luck to him! Stupid brother hurting him....really was a turning point in his career.

that and this way Popp was able to secure some insurance in the form of quality MLB's making Muamba expendable due to his contract. Not bad losing a starting MLB but still having two who have proven to be starters in this league. Can you imagine if he let Muamba go before free agency and also lost Woods?

2 clubs with questionable Olines as well....don't see him making much of an impact.

What good is a deal if it doesn't actually pan out?

#1 We already have a top tier LT. Arguably one that is better than Bourke. I believe he is younger as well. So I don't understand how Bourke, who arguably isn't as good, would make our Oline better by replacing Bryant? #2 How do you know it's not? There was Bourke out there in FA, who else would have dramatically changed this Oline? It's not even a given that Bourke would have done anything (his play wasn't steller last year) Know what else helps out QB's under pressure? Slots who know how to read a blitz and get open. Something we were VERY VERY horrible at last year. Like maybe the worst I've ever seen. Guess what though? We went out and got one of the best. And followed that up by signing another who is showing great promise. So to sum this up. Adding Olineman isn't the only way to help protect your QB. Adding over priced aged Olineman to replace younger cheaper and (arguably) more talented Olineman is a great way to ruin your offence.
