  1. Durant is sure raising the Rider fans expectations for this season:

" 'The key to us is just strictly health. If we can stay healthy, then we'll be in Winnipeg for sure come November.'

The 103rd Grey Cup will be held in the Manitoba capital Nov. 29."

" 'I think I can get 6,000 yards passing this year, that’s what I think,' he said to the approval of those in attendance at the Estevan Bruins Sportsman Dinner."

I guess it hasn't dawned on him that he's not going to have Picard and Heenan in front of him this year.

Meh, just a player saying exactly what the fans want to hear.

  2.

I would rather have a guy with a eye for Canadian talent then American

I would rather have a guy that can do both, you know...like most of the other GMs.

Yeah, I'm not sure having 25% of your starting lineup really strong and 75% kinda meh is a formula for success.

Every GM we've had has demonstrated some positives and some negatives.  What with them being human and all...

    Pff lame humans.

  3.

He'd have to show up looking borderline incompetent and completely out of shape to not get a practice roster spot this year.

Or maybe we draft two receivers that we value more and just cut him loose. PR and TC spots are not infinite. If the Bombers feel that he is too long term a project and have other bodies they feel can contribute at his position then they would cut him loose. Without knowing how the rest of the offseason unfolds, how he does in mini-camp (yes there is the distinct possibility that he looks incompetent there), and who else we may need PR spots for, I am at a loss as to how anyone can pencil him in as a PR guarantee. He will have to beat the odds to get a PR spot imo.

They would be making a mistake to cut him this year IMO. It's not often you find an CND with his size playing a skill position. Even if he is useless at first, keeping him on as a project is almost guaranteed.

If they actually call all the PI's these new rules will create, we're in for a long slow season.  If the DB's leave the receivers totally alone, they don't stand much of a chance to make plays and our great game will end up looking like an NBA game.  All offence.  No defense.  The last team with the ball will end up winning.  For us who like defense, it's a real shame.

Yep if it's an uncontested offensive game it's not exciting. One of the things that makes football great is one side winning those individual physical battles. A receiver making a great catch with e DB all over his back. Now we'll see some minor contact drawing a flag and teams will move 20 yards up field for doing nothing. It's a tough physical game, why are we pussifying it like this?

    This is the rule:

It will allow a defensive player to contact a receiver that is in front of him within five yards of the line of scrimmage, but it will not allow either player to create or initiate contact that impedes or redirects an opponent beyond five yards.

There is nothing there that will prevent D players from making plays on the ball or getting position on O players. Not all plays in the past have had D players restricting the movements of O players. That was still illegal contact.

Battles for the ball will still be viewed as who has a chance to get the ball. It does not automatically mean interference calls on either side.

Let's slow down a bit before the panic sets in.

It will not be the flag fest nor the offensive wild spree that is being portrayed.

The players know how to play football…they will adapt.

I believe you are giving CFL refs way too much credit.

Guaranteed the first time a Defensive player jumps up to get a ball and contacts an offensive player while doing so...PI on the D.

    Has anyone mentioned this ?

Kashif Montgomery signed with BlueBombers? The news is from February 10.

    http://pawtuckettimes.com/content/central-falls-athletics-northern-exposure-montgomery-signs-deal-cfls-winnipeg-blue-bombers

Mentioned this on Twitter once or twice in February, but the longer we wait, the more I think he may just have been offered a shot at mini camp or may have been released by now in favor of someone they liked better.

    1. @Wpg_BlueBombers How will you stop your players from taking so many late hit and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties this year? #AskOShea

.Keep coaching proper techniques and keep building the "team"

I had hoped to get some insight into his thoughts on accountability for on-field actions that hurt the team, but but got pretty much nothing. At least he responded!

I told you, Kuale was cut already :)

  7. Someone asked what he thought of Volnys comments after he was cut and showed a picture of an article with a headline - Volny on O'shea - "he is a terrible coach" I can't find the article. And that's the first I've heard of him saying anything like this. Anyone have any idea about it? Is it a fake?

Also...he never answered my damn questions!!!

  8.

Why stop at just these rules? Why not make the dbs run backwards at all times? Maybe let each team carry a bear on their roster?

The designated import spot has now been replaced by the "wildlife" spot where teams will be allowed to roster either a bear, deer or moose.

I would like to see a Moose lined up at DT... good luck stopping that... until they implement the "designated Ford F150 for O-line" rule... then it might be close...

Ha, ford F150 tryin to stop a moose? We're better off lining up Will ford against it.

  9. I wonder how much the fact that it will be pretty easy to keep Demski in Winnipeg past his first contract plays into their decision.

It might also be fairly easy to draw him back here after his first contract is up on another team. That's actually why I think we should draft someone else. Let Demski go through his growing pains/development into a pro on another team. Try to get him back here after.

  10.

To brag of Canada's multiculutural society but pretend there is nothing wrong with a seperate set of rules for aboriginals is both shameful and ludicrous.

To be so unapologetically ignorant about the steps taken in building this country isn't much better.

Ignorant because I refuse to be a guilt-ridden white liberal and apologize for wanting to bring indians into modernity ?

Where do we begin to talk to someone about the actual issues, when they start saying things like this and label people who don't agree with their opinion in such an aggressive way. Why is it that everyone who disagrees with you is A) white, B)Guilt Ridden  C) Liberal....? Honest question.

You are ignorant...I'm not going to explain to you why (cause i'm not your teacher)...but now that you know you are, please act like an adult and find out why. Educate yourself.

Also should be noted....using the term "indian" in reference to Native americans is often seen as offensive and....wait of it.....ignorant.

  11. I dont know.  Arent we moving to an unsustainable way of living now?  How many kids live at home til they're 30?  How many parents are giving their kids money to buy their first home?  Thats all fine but are the kids of today who cant afford to live and cant afford their own home going to be in the same position as their parents and be able to support their own children?  What happens then?

Moving to an unsustainable way of living? lol where are you living? We are well past that point now. Unsustainable, bordering on suicidal is more like it.

  12.

Aaron Kelly likely won't be back either.

"likely"? When has there been even a hint that the Bombers are interested in re-signing him.
    SMH.

IDK what SMH means.  Silly Meat Hat???

    stab my heart

    stop making herpies

    steal my hair

    sit me how

or it just might be shake my head

  13.

Darren's article was a geat piece to give fans insight, of course he is not going to tell us everything. I dont blame mack or lapo for the jade pick, the kid never wanted to be a football player. He did not put the time or work in to becoming a pro

but his mom is sure hot!

you're not the first person I've heard say this.

  14. but again no one is saying "let's bring Glenn in to win us a Grey Cup"... what we're saying is hey, Glenn is a lot more proven than any of our backups, if we need to use him for a stretch he's a better option than the backups. Hell he might even be better than Drew Willy at this point, but I like Willy and don't really want to get into that argument here.

And people are responding by saying he's proven to be mediocre. That's all he's proven in his CFL career. So why not go with someone who has yet to prove what they can do, but have looked decent/exciting in their limited time?

We all know what KG brings to the table. And it isn't good enough to get the team to where everyone wants to get to as a back up or starter, even while playing with teams that were arguably better than the current bombers. Brohm looked decent and even Marve played well against calgary late last year (cgy's effort suspect in that game). So why settle? when you need to move past mediocre. Mediocre (like has been said on this topic already) should no longer be an option to this franchise.

  15.

Well 49 votes on here... and 20,951 season ticket holders not voting and still buying merchandise.

Judging by what I see at Bomber games, a significant percentage of those 20,951 STH are buying Royal Blue merch.  Heck there are at least 3 Royal Blue #63 Walby jerseys in my own section, let alone the stadium.

We only have one jersey that we are unbeaten wearing... Urban Camouflage.  I have seen at least three people besides myself wearing these in the west Upper deck.

yeah that's cause the west side sucks!!

  16. I look forward to proving those of you who doubt me here wrong, and in fact the "slow moving, can't catch anyone" runs a 5.3, at 360lbs, close to lead the league two years in a row for tackles, playing at nose, and just came back from Texas, playing for team Canada, any highlights that are up are from Grade 11......Like i said, i can't wait to prove you all wrong. Thank you for your input.

  17. Wouldn't the team make some kind of announcement about it (going back to Royal Blue) by now in a Grey Cup hosting season? I know Winnipeg teams (both Jets and Bombers) are famous for holding off on announcements, but seeing as FA is almost upon us you'd think they'd want the newly signed guys (hopefully there are some ;) ) to sport the 2015 uni in the press pics. Oh well ... :(

Well by that logic, wouldn't they just announce it when they have the big names wearing them at an introduction presser or something...?
