  1. Trade makes more sense because we could trade a limited asset and get Kings to retain salary. Jets wont go near him at that salary for 5 years. The last two years, however, are not too bad at $3 million (even though its a higher cap hit). Kings would have to retain some salary though. What were they thinking not buying him out? Not every team can afford to pay a guy a lump sum of ~$20 millon to not play for them.
  2. Lots of money but hell yes I would do it. I refuse to believe he has fallen so far that he can't come back to being the player he once was.
  3. Emry is younger... maybe better. Let's see how he does this season. He wasn't as outstanding in Toronto as he once was in Montreal but we'll see.
  4. Surely you can understand the value in seeing players play live. Lots of front office guys, especially GM's, really don't get to see young players play live because they are tied up with their pro teams for most of the college season.
  5. Because it's basically like slapping that player in the face? You have to have a lot of goodwill built up to be able to pull off moves like these without getting a bad reputation from players. And I think Taman will be okay because Sask seems to be fairly highly regarded by players right now.... otherwise I'm not sure he would pull off a move like this.
  6. Another thing about Kassian is that the Canucks are in playoff position. Why would they be selling assets? We all know they aren't in love with Kassian but even they would have to admit he is a good depth forward for a playoff run.
  7. Not me, I saw it coming a mile away. Successful = evil.
  8. What makes your opinions more credible than anyone else's?Don't really agree with the way Spuds worded that there but... reading the last few comments on page 1 here, He is pretty much bang on. I mean there is tons of speculation and made up stuff there for sure from one guy atleast and with no real facts to back up what he is saying. I mean, honestly, if you are accusing people of doing back room deals over land or whatever else really, you better have some damn good facts to back it up and quite frankly, there are no facts. Just a bunch of speculation and really guessing big time, i wanna call it blowing smoke up peoples asses cuz that's actually what a few of those posts are pretty much doing. I like the one comment too that ends page 1, something about living in fantasy worlds... guess that person does too cuz what they have written about this topic is nothing but fantasy. That's just what it is - speculation. No one was purporting to know exactly what is happening at city hall. There's no need for people to attack others for stating their opinions as to what's going on at city hall.Yeah but theres a different between speculation and basically accusations like Gbills posts are doing. He's pretty much accusing chipman of buying bowman, I think that's a pretty bold statement to make with no real facts to back it up.It's not a bold statement at all. That's how politics and business interact, especially when you have a pro-business politician in power. It is bold because even though that may be the case, you have no facts to back it up this time at all. You can't saying Chipman bought Bowman or whatever without having any real facts. Can't just say that's how politics works, because yeah even though i agree with you there a bit, saying someone bought someone is crazy and honestly, if this was a court of law, it's not but if we pretend it is, you'd get laughed out of the room in like 5 minutes with your "but that's how politics" works argument. Like i said, it might be but Bowman has somewhat shown in his brief time in office that, you know what... he's not exactly the same as those other guys. I see nothing so far that even remotely suggest Bowman is similar to Katz or guys from the past and what you are saying with no real facts is he is the same. When all he has done since getting in to office is pretty much the exact opposite of what you are speculating about.Re-read all my posts on this. I don't know enough yet about Bowman to form an opinion on him, but we may find out this week whether he can in fact be bought, and whether he plays the same game as Sammy. It'll be refreshing if he does the right thing here. It will be refreshing if he does the right thing FOR THE CITY. If that means giving a contract to True North instead of someone else than so be it. It doesn't mean he was bought off, although some like yourself will suggest it does. There are corrupt politicians. Not every politician is corrupt.
  9. Zach Kassian really?? No thanks.
  10. If we can land Holmes, Neufeld likely gets bumped back to 6th OL... a role I think he is suited to due to his tackle and guard experience. If we get Heenan but not Holmes, Neufeld probably continues to start. In any case, I don't see much of a role remaining here for Steve Morley, outside of "depth guy". Possibly keep him around on the 46 but not on the active roster until injuries dictate it. You could stow him on the IR but I'm not sure if he would accept that because there are probably a couple OL's that would be happy to have him... namely the one in BC. Also as a starting Canadian OL for the last 5 years he probably makes decent coin and I'm not sure if its feasible for the Bombers to be paying a guy that much to sit on the IR. Obviously the 6-game doesn't count against the cap but there are real dollars & cents concerns as well.
  11. I wouldn't do that. Harrison might grab a sixth rounder at best and I mean really... what's a sixth rounder? The value is almost negligible. Having Harrison around for a playoff run would be worth far more to us.
  12. He hasn't been waived this year but he was last year at the very beginning of the season. As far as getting a pick back for him... let's not go nuts here. He MIGHT not clear waivers but I'd be shocked if anyone gave anything up for him. And it's not like we can pull him back off waivers once we see that teams are interested.
  13. What makes you think we even get a chance to match a better offer? Say Sask throws down 250 and we offer 260, Taman says "275 if you sign right now." Maybe we are willing to best 275 and maybe we never get a chance to do so. It's not just an open auction floor where the highest bid wins.
  14. Devone Claybrooks would appear to be the heir apparent to Rich Stubler. Missick probably saw that and decided he would need to move if he wishes to advance.
  15. I don't think he would clear.
  16. Is anyone going to cry if we lose Pardy through waivers? I doubt it. Yeah it would be nice to get something for him but it doesn't always work that way.
  17. I still think Eberle is a realistic option and would make a great third line RW. First round pick, Paul Postma, and Scott Kosmachuk for Eberle. Done deal!
  18. Why? We already have the important detail: 11 of the 12 balls provided by the Patriots were under-inflated and all the balls provided by the Colts were inflated to specifications. You need the Goodell spin to tell you what to think and inform you how this isn't a black mark on the NFL? It's all there in black and white. The Patriots cheated.
  19. No apology necessary
  20. Lawless also said he's worried about the possibility that the game may just never happen now... as he said, "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush." Winnipeg and the Jets want the Classic here a lot more than the NHL does. If it is too much hassle, they will just play it somewhere else.
  21. Look, I'm not saying they should be disqualified from the Super Bowl or anything. I understand that teams do what they can to gain an edge. But the Patriots have been caught twice now, so they should be punished accordingly. The rules are in place for a reason and if you don't enforce them then there is no point having them. Just because some teams get away with it doesn't mean that you don't punish the ones who get caught. They were cheating and they knew it so they deserve punishment.
  22. I think Belichek was fined 500K for the "spygate" thing .. this time it's going to cost the organization draft picks .. They should lose draft picks and also salary cap space like what happened to the Redskins and Cowboys
  23. So it is confirmed that the Patriots under inflated 11 of their 12 balls by 2 PSI. It's just non-stop cheating with those guys. Makes you wonder what other slimy schemes they've pulled off and not been caught for.
  24. Normally you'd think that, then we went into last season with Aaron Kelly and Romby Bryant. More like being caught under a tipped over vending machine. Receiver is an area McManus really has to show something in. For the most part the guys he brought to camp and to the practice roster in season did not look like CFL quality players either when they got an opportunity. Donovan Kemp seemed to look okay in training camp and pre-season. Because of his injury, we'll never know if he would have gotten a chance and even succeeded. Actually it makes me wonder whether they might bring him back next year. Regardless, I'd agree that the receiver competition was pretty weak. But let's remember Joe Mack's first season... finding import receivers was one of his strengths over his time here and the receivers he brought in 2010 were awful. Jamayel Smith was starting for us. My point is that I think the scouting staff deserves a first season grace period to establish themselves.
