  1. Yep, he was given an ultimatum awhile back...I remember that....and he chose Riders. I have some friends working in Regina, but I have a hard time getting a straight answer on what exactly the deal is. I believe Rod still hosts "Sports Cage" in the afternoon for them, but that may also be a freelance kinda thing.....but, as I stated, my understanding is that his calls of Riders games is paid for by the team.
  2. I will say this........one of the most honest, knowledgeable, real (in short: REAL) Riders fans I've ever known, is fully on board with what Rod Pedersen has been spouting and told me, straight as an arrow, that he fully believes in and supports Chris Jones, and knows he's doing the right things. Called this "a rebuilding year" and that everything would be hunky-dory next year. As has been said, even during the Mike Kelly year, which was arguably the darkest point in our long and storied history, we never stooped to the level of blaming the league, blaming conspirators......it was on Bauer, Kelly and all BOG people who started the roll downhill. No matter how bad our fan base can get at times, we've never gone "Full Riders Fan" like this.....
  3. Florida definitely building something down there. Some really good pieces...
  4. does he still do Pats? I thought I heard, some time ago, that he was asked by CKRM to give up one or the other, so he chose the Riders over the Pats. I wonder if that's how this agreement came to be....he's being paid by the Riders for their games, and paid by RM for the Pats. This way he can do both, but RM is only paying him the OT for one thing....could be.......
  5. My understanding is that he works for the Riders as their PBP man, rather than working for CKRM. CKRM happens to be the host broadcaster, but they have a unique situation where the PBP guy is not actually an employee of the radio station, but rather of the team. So, in theory, if the broadcast rights went to a different station, Rod would move with the rights. Now, that's my understanding of it, but I have not been able to get conclusive answers from radio friends over there...
  6. My vote is for BLM, personally, but Collaros is damn good for sure. I'm impressed with how quickly he's back to top form following that injury. He comes back and basically from Game 1, he was lighting things up...
  7. I think I'm cheering for the young guns team more than Team Canada, but I'll follow both relatively closely. As much as I think this tourney is a stupid POS cash grab, I'm pretty hockey starved at this point of the year, so I'm looking forward to watching the games..
  8. If anyone gets the opportunity to read Doug Brown's piece in the FP today, it says, "Drew Willy Never Played For This Team".......and breaks down all the differences in the first 5 vs the last 5
  9. Curious to know how many of these "Here's why I like Willy", "Here's Why I Like Nichols" threads we actually have going right now....there's gotta be at least a half dozen in existence someplace here...
  10. lot easier to say when you have Milt ******* Stegall as your weapon........
  11. I think the Riders sold their soul to the devil for the 2013 GC and are paying the price. **** them.
  12. We can't possibly win 6 in a row........ Right?
  13. This is definitely the reality of "Rider Nation" but, at the end of the day, those sheep spend an epic amount of money on merch and make them one of the richest teams in Canada... Any sport.
  14. I just watched the highlights a couple times and I really do believe it was PI because, as mentioned, Dressler's arm was tied up and he wasn't allowed to come back to the ball. I sincerely believe it was the right call.
  15. I was thinking that maybe he's just so much bigger than those he's locked up with, maybe it's tough to not get hands in the face...
  16. He had some really good throws. Was let down a bit. He hasn't always been solid, but today was one of his better efforts.
  17. Doug Brown has been talking about this a lot, and it's important. One by one... Now, about winning back to back at home....
  18. Nichols really was solid today. Made some real good throws. He had tough drops by the receivers.
  19. Cover team not to blame on the punt return TD. Medlock out kicked em. It happens...
  20. I had a LOT of rye... Got through the game without going Full Wylie (I'm a bit of a candidate for one) amd then managed to get out and shoot a good round at Calgary's Golf Canada course while decimating poor ol 17to85. It's been a good day.....
  21. That dude is a prime candidate for a coronary. Glad it wasn't that serious...
  22. Ohhhhhhhhh ya
  23. Hell of a game from McDuffie. Just so glad we had him in there.
  24. As I watch McDuffie catch yet another ball.... Where is JBR and is he choking in a bag of dicks? Because I sure hope so....
  25. Also of note for today, Riders regular ling snapper is hurt so they have someone new stepping in for the first time. For what that's worth...
