  1. WINNIPEG, MB., June 21, 2021 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the addition of Darrell Patterson to the 2021 coaching staff as the new defensive line coach. A Blue Bombers alumnus, Patterson played for the club from 1984-87 and was a member of the 1984 Grey Cup championship team. He brings extensive coaching experience to the Bombers staff, having most recently served as an assistant coach/defensive analyst with TCU from 2018-2020 following a long run with the Rice Owls from 2007-17. Patterson worked with the Rice linebackers for eight years and in his last six years with the program was also the assistant head coach. In addition, he spent seven years as the Rice special-teams coordinator and four as the run-game coordinator. With his connections to Canada, Patterson led the school’s recruiting efforts in this country and helped Rice land eight Canadians over a nine-year span, including long-time NFL tight end Luke Wilson and defensive end Christian Covington as well as offensive linemen Scott Mitchell and Peter Godber. Prior to his days at Rice, Patterson worked at Stanford University (2005-07), Southern Methodist (2003-04), Baylor (2002), Arkansas State (2001), Kentucky (1997-00), Temple (1995-96), Akron (1992-94). He began his coaching career as an intern with the B.C. Lions in 1991. A standout linebacker at TCU during his playing days from 1979-82, Patterson is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame and remains the school’s all-time leader in tackles. He was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round, 151st overall, of the 1983 NFL Draft and first made his way north to Winnipeg and the Blue Bombers in 1984. He would suit up for 49 regular-season games with the Bombers from 1984-87 before moving on to the Ottawa Rough Riders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. His best season statistically came in 1987, when he finished with eight sacks, behind only Blue Bomber hall of famers Tyrone Jones and Mike Gray.
  2. Something like 40% vaccine uptake in Nevada... Just an absolute filthy petri dish of a place to be. It's a wonder more haven't been sick...
  3. I've got a great father, but am a child of divorce so I'm fortunate to have an incredible step father as well as some uncles who were kind enough to be a great influence while I was growing up. Happy Father's Day to all the dads on this site!
  4. I will say this: There's a sadistic part of me that's happy we're all arguing with TBurg about the roster again... Must mean CFL football is in the air!
  5. We'll never be done with Covid... But we can learn to live with it as long as people get vaccinated.
  6. See, I think the UK thing might not necessarily happen because of the difference in population density. UK is the entire population of Canada in a space the size of Alberta. I'm not saying that what Alberta is doing right....I'm not saying the UK situation ISN'T going to happen here....I'm just saying that it's not for sure, and there's absolutely legitimate reasons why it might not happen here.
  7. Medlock has a new day job that he doesn't want to leave....can't blame the guy.
  8. there's no question that there's a race between vaccinations and the Delta variant, but I do believe that between AB's population density and how quickly they're getting vaccines into arms, we're at least better positioned against a potential 4th wave. I'm still confident, just based on all the reading I've done.
  9. Keep in mind, Alberta is also WAY ahead of you guys in terms of bending the current curve. We have around 150 cases/day with a population about 4x that of Manitoba. Down to about 250 hospital // 50 ICU. And our vaccines are flowing pretty good. So while agree that a slow and steady approach would be better, this province is in a much better position to throw open the doors than most others...
  10. so who's out there as a vet that could be brought in? And QUALITY vet...not just someone with experience for experience sake.........
  11. Yeah we're completely and totally ******. We did fire open the doors to all second doses today, so that's something. As long as it's been 4 weeks since your first shot and 8 weeks since OXAZ, then you can get your second dose as of today in AB......
  12. it's been a year and a half! Of course we want to ***** about Riders fans!!!!!
  13. Iriving interviewd Liegghio during his Mid Winter WBB Special, and he sounded like a good kid. He's very good friends with Larry Arugala, who went to the same Uni, and they're workout partners. There'll be growing pains, but he's only really going to be kicking converts anyhow, right...............?
  14. Danny Mac knows what's up...
  15. I'm really excited about Sean McGuire, but he is inexperienced. Here's hoping he turns out like we hope he does!
  16. crucial for them to be double vaxxed by mid-August at the latest....
  17. -Bombers are not defending champs. The title was abdicated. -Taylor "One Big Question" for the WBB is DBs. Thinks Rose/Sayles haven't been replaced well enough. Receivers a close second in that regard, in his opinion. Says they look really good everywhere else. -Ferguson: Questions about their interior OL. Says the tackles are good, but not sure about the interior. Other than that, says they're freakishly good and is particularly interested to see just how good 2Jeff2Furious are this season, because they are heads and tails above every other DE pairing in the league.
  18. interesting comments from Derek Taylor and Marshall Ferguson about the Bombers in 2021......
  19. and really should be 3 if not for Kevin f***ing Eiben....... *spits*
  20. we've got the AB Vaxx Hunters out here that run Twitter and FB pages and are superheroes. Constantly tracking pharmacies and super sites to see who has what. Really invaluable service.
  21. any vaccine you get is the right one.... good on you for doing it!
  22. ******' 4-stripes.....their premier is likely the second biggest *******, next to JK to the west, and BP not far behind......what a mouth piece.
  23. Was really hoping that we might might see that WR (....The former Esks guy that we signed and then he decided to retire.......drawing a blank....) come back now that the league is committed to playing. Fingers still crossed that he has a change of heart...
  24. Probably a good time to edit a chunk of this thread and move it over to the COVID thread........ Back on track:
