  1. I voted O'shea.

Why?  I want the organisation to look outside of the past Bombers (ie. Khari).

I also don't want a retread of someone who failed in the past.  I am probably in the minority, but I think that another rookie HC is a good idea.  I will accept a mediocre season if it means we give a new coach time to grow and develop.

I would accept Khari as an OC, and I don't want Burke as a DC (I think its like knowing you have rotten food in your fridge, but you won't throw it out, you just keep pretending there isn't a problem).

I would accept Higgins, if he wanted to be here.  But if you keep getting passed over/declining opportunities, I am worried that one's heart really isn't into it.

  2. So here is a question, a stupid question, but still a question.

Does Walters actually want to be the GM?  Acting GM and all that is one thing, but does he actually want the full time job?  Perhaps Walters is wanting an experienced GM here that he can work with and learn more from.  Gain those contacts, gain the experience.

Answers to these questions can only be assumptions at this point.... unless Walters himself gives an answer either way.

  3. I get the complaints about Miller but one I don't understand is why people think a statement like "football decisions will be made with my approval" (or whatever he said) is out of line.

He's the CEO. They rubber stamp all decisions.

This isn't new. Some of you just don't like it because he's brash and blunt about it.

I watched the Buffalo Sabres press conference this morning, right before the WBB press conference.  Both have eerie similarities (neither has a GM currently, both teams sucked).  The biggest thing I took from both is that the final decisions won't be made by one person.  That owners, presidents, GMs and Coachs all have the responsibility to work together to bring about an end product.

Ted Nolan put it best this morning.... saying that the front office and the team in general will work hard to make you the paying customer feel like you weren't ripped off by attending a game.  Compete level, and the committment of the players/front office are what will help make this happen.

Hopefully the WBB start acting the same way.

  4. Going back and forth with Penton on Twitter ...

He said Burke was "doomed" with the roster Mack gave him. I still stand by the fact that the import talent may not have been great, but Burke did absolutely nothing to turn those guys into better players.

I'll ask the question here, same as I asked Penton because I'm curious. Can anyone name an import player who actually improved with time during Tim Burke's stay as HC?

Demond Washington maybe?  Will Ford?  Is it improvement if you are allowed to play?

  5.

There is talent there.  Particularly in short yardage.

There is talent there.  Particularly in short yardage.

Is that a backhanded compliment? ;)

Not backhanded at all.  Boltus failed miserably as short-yardage, along with other aspects.  Goltz was a bright spot in short yardage IMHO, not a slight, a compliment.  Should have added the name Goltz anywhere in that original statement, it would have been a bit more clear.

  6. I am going to weep when looking at that list.  Once had Labatte and could have gotten Jones with our 2ND ROUND pick.  I used to defend mack for his drafts but I'm becoming less forgiving over time.  Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Agreed, the talent Mack passed on (in hind-sight) could have really helped our team.

Hopefully some of the picks he made this past season actually hits the field this year.

  7. TJ Rubley is the response for people who really don't know that much about the Bombers. It's like people who list "Satisfaction" as the best Rolling Stones song and call themselves "biggest fan ever"...

Hey thanks for that.  Really though, TJ was the first that came to mind.

I remember reading the reports about Hackney, and then the blob appeared.

  8. Not quite sure how I feel about this.  Two sides of the coin really.

1 - great that they would bring back past Bombers to attempt to win back the fanbase

2 - not-so-great that its back to de-facto rookies in their fields.  Khari as Coach is a big risk... Dunnigan as GM is an even bigger risk in my opinion.

Would that mean we get no more installments of the fine "Road Griller" cooking show?  <sarcasm>
