kolo was on roller skates the first sack against, might as well have not even been there, and after that sack collaros game changed for the worse.

Call it what you want … you need to move on from Collaros

I just don't understand how Ritchie Hall came in with such a piss poor offensive game plan. He knows what Fajardo can and can't do. -
Thorpes D wasn't even THAT good. There were tons of plays out there that just didn't get made. The entire Bombers team had a let down. They left a ton of plays on the field and came in with quite frankly subpar game plans. Just unacceptable all around.
-
man I dunno if you can say that... 2019 and 2021 we won with depth. We don't have that depth now, especially with bighill and schoen going out there hurt. It comes down to a couple plays? Absolutely it does. So have the right roster so that you have either a) backups who can make that play or b) backups who can take rotations in to keep your stars fresh so they can make that play.
-
yes we kept an extra OL on the roster which is dumb. I understand they want to not lose Eli and Dobson.... so if they're that good ******* start them. Just lots of little poor roster decisions costing them.
-
yeah that always sounded like an excuse to me. Depth is gone and getting old and when the roster guys who don't play anywhere...... this was a poorly built roster with enough star power to overcome it most weeks
-
Depth is what wins you games. You have small rosters in the CFL. You need backups who can play, who can spell off people to keep them fresh. 2019 and 2021 this team had thebest depth and won because of it. THis year not so much. We played most games short handed.
-
did we do that though? cause special teams sucked this year.
-
This is exactly it. franchise best team last season and 1 point grey cup loss, yeah I can get behind running it back this year, but this was the only year you can really do that. age happens fast in football and if you don't actively get younger right now you will find yourself in a bad spot pretty quick.

some guys it won't happen and the GM is going to have to take that choice out of his hands. -
no one said rebuild, but you have to make more than 1 or 2 changes at this point. more importantly they need to clear some cap space to get better depth. ANd that likely includes a lot of the older depth players. Not just the starters.
-
have you looked at the average age of the team though? They avoided making changes this season to run it back, fine, but that means you gotta do more this offseason. Yes they still had succes and yes not everyone needs to go... but they gotta make some changes or they'll just keep getting older and older.

I don't even know that it's that. I really do believe that the guys are just too old to play every snap. We needed better young cheap depth and didn't have it. -
The biggest thing this team has lost (other than the stars getting older) is the depth that made them so good in 19 and 21. We need better more useful depth. Guys on the roster to never take a snap is a complete waste given the age of this team.

The biggest weakness Oshea has is for guys like Bighill. There is absolutely no way Bighill should have been playing in that game. None. I don't care what his career looks like, I don't care how tough he is. Bighill is barely able to play at the appropriate level when healthy and that is just a fact. He;s getting old. Happens to everyone. -
The only guy? really? Not Thomas as well? Alexander ain't what he once was. Could still be useful as a depth pieces but he's not the same guy he was a couple years ago. That's just the D.
-
of course it is, we're sitting here bitching that we've only won 2 grey cups in 4 straight appearances and have 3 straight first place in the west finishes. What we got here are first world problems.

I don't think it was a particularly great crop of rookies in training camp... but I do think we saw in the final game of the year that some of the defensive line guys on the practise roster could play and contribute... moreso than for example Bennett... or Thomas at this stage. Given the number of canadians we were starting there was no need for the roster to be built the way it was. Then you keep a useful guy like Kelly off too just to get old man Thomas and Bennett on the roster to do what? Nothing useful. And I'm not anti Thomas... but he's past his best before date. -
I can't believe it either. how does it feel to be right for once?
-
I said after the west final I was more worried about Bighill playing hurt than not playing at all, surprise surprise, the old guy who is barely hanging on when healthy wasn't good enough to play hurt. Houston should never have been in for rose. Houston missed the tackle in the backfield on stanback on the als first TD and he got beat for the final TD. they never should have gone as much of the season as they did without proper defensive line depth. Kolankowski should not have kept the starting job all year when he clearly isn't as good as Eli. Hell Eli was ahead of Grey before the vaccine issues, why was he relegated to backup? Not like Gray is killing it at guard. Collaros has problems but no one seems to be helping him out of it. playing schoen hurt was a bad call too. Just so many things that were building. This core was built 4, 5, 6 years ago, I was OK running it back this year but it didn't work, time to make some hard choices and reload.
-
and his competition was vernon adams and Chad Kelly.... Collaros being the best qb in the league is a damning indictment of the quality of qb in the league right now. I've said that for years.
-
Thing is he wasn't THAT good in the regular season. Cracks definitely started to show and he was a lot more hit or miss. Father time is unbeaten and collaros might be at the end of his time as a top tier guy. The comeback was amazing but....

It's funny because last year before the Grey Cup a coworker was asking me about my thoughts on the Grey Cup and if collaros would play. I said well he will play, will depend on if he can be his usual self.... to which he replied something like well usually collaros isn't great in the playoffs. By God if he wasn't on to something -
Again Jeffcoat is fine, just need depth on the DL and no old man thomas and Bennett snd Jackson don't count.

Collaros didn't get more than the 2019 playoff run with lapo, and in 2019 we had streveler to help the offense Outlook.
