  1. This. It's exactly the kind of position you'd expect from Doug Brown. He was a player rep, he was involved in these dealings before, he's still a player at heart I think so naturally he's on their side. Trouble is that the CFL would never go through a lock out. It wouldn't survive one and the players quite simply are replaceable except for a handful. If push comes to shove they'll fold faster than superman on laundry day purple monkey dishwasher.
  2. Dominos I always found to be OK. It's not terrible but it's nothing to get super excited over... That being said I swear to god they lace their cheesy bread with crack it is that good.
  3. Guess I'll be "that guy"...... Umm welcome to the board. How is it you know of Rob and why do you feel he will have a great CFL career? Thanks for the welcome. I've known Robert since he was in middle school. Extended family...brother in law. He's a good kid and is so very focused and talented. I won't pretend to know much about the CFL rules and the game in general but from what I've seen, it's a pass oriented league and the QB should have a strong arm and good mobility which are both strengths for Robert. How's the Offensive line in Winnipeg? Receivers? RB's? Kinda figured you knew him pretty well. You will quickly learn we have an extremely passionate fan base here and are very championship Hungary (it's been a while) This makes the majority of us grumpy and a little on edge sometimes when we have someone come in and start talking up someone we don't know as the next best thing. No offence to you and Robert. We have had plenty of players come through our league that just fizzle out or leave during training camp due too many different reasons especially QBs. This is why we are usually pretty sceptical about a new guy. If Robert is committed and passionate about football he will fit in here quite quickly. I wish him the best if he makes it through mini camp and into camp. Winnipeg is a fun place to play football. How is our Oline?...let's just say it's a work in progress. RB...we have had pretty solid RBs as far back as I can remember and not a possiision to worry about. Nothing wrong with a family member pumping another family members tires here. On CFL Horsemen, Eric Fraser's sister who went by the handle kkpfrase would attack anyone who said anything negative about her brother. It got pretty funny at times, especially when Stamps fans on that board would say Eric sucked in coverage after a game as she'd lose her mind. Now she's on the Ottawa fan board. That'll get interesting. I once told her going to war with every fan who criticized her brother was not very smart. And that maybe Eric didn't appreciate the fact that she did. I just told her she should either stay away from CFL H or just relax. But I know it would be hard... If I had family in the CFL, I'd disappear from here as I'd know I'd end up saying something I shouldn't & later regret it. I just don't know why family or friends of players who can't handle criticism of their friend/relative even show up to places like this. Gotta understand how fans are and if you're not prepared to ignore the stuff that gets said you're in for a bad time.
  4. There is no lawsuit that can win because someone said something on the internet. That's what free speech is there to protect. Now they could I suppose depending on what was said go in front of one of those unconstituational human rights commissions but those are a whole different discussion that is probably best left alone cause it'll get more than a few people riled up. Libel laws still apply to internet postings. And there are limits to what is protected with respect to Freedom of Expression in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Free speech on a message board is a myth - you give it up when you agree to the terms of service that lets the board owner(s) and their appointees edit or remove your posts. There is a difference between freedom of expression as guaranteed by the government and the owners of a website moderating and editing what can be said, a very big difference. The only way I would worry about libel applying to something said on the internet is if it was said by someone in the media or some other person with some degree of fame. Joe Average says something? Big deal that's not going to hold up anywhere.

  6. no YOU'RE dumb... It's "your" dumb, Einsteen! are we sure it's not yore?
  7. And don't think the CFL in general doesn't love it either. They probably had a talk with Buono about hyping it up good. Free publicity is free publicity.
  8. I dunno what's up with all the subway hate, I don't mind it and it's pretty much the go to fast food place (now maybe that's because there's one very close to my house) Mr. Sub I like but may have over done that in university since that was the sub place in the cafeteria on campus. Quiznos is good as well but I find the subs aren't quite as filling.
  9. Maybe not but it's a lot of fun none the less.
  10. Tons of qbs with all sorts of tools come through the CFL and leave quietly. Until he does something in training camp or preseason there's no reason to get worked up.
  11. I just can't believe that, these things never pop out of nowhere. It's not the first time that people have complained about the meanies picking on them, I suspect it was media.
  12. So which public person bitched and complained that the bullies on the internet were picking on them?
  13. Had chicken on the way for the first time a few months ago, I don't know what the big deal is. Everyone talked it up like it was the greatest thing to happen to fried chicken, the Chicken Chef (and before that it was Chicken Delight) in the small town I grew up in was better than that.
  14. How much money do you think jr. teams actually make?
  15. I'm not sure anyone would be upset about a Canadian safety with a beloved brother playing well for us. Unfortunately, Cauchy being cut has to be considered far more likely than him being a productive starter. Why? Not like he's lacking the physical skills to play the game, he just made mental mistakes and that's the kind of thing that can be corrected through coaching. If O'Shea has hired teachers like he wanted what's to stop Muamba from getting better?
  16. You know that Walters has spoken highly of Pencer right? So not like he's been opposed to every draft pick that was made. And to be perfectly honest I think too many people on this board get too worked up over the Walters wanted Edem stuff last year as well. In a draft where every highly rated prospect was getting NFL interest I don't think you can be too critical of the Bombers taking a chance on a guy that no one really expected to stick in the NFL, especially when the guy the missed out on was a safety and you'd just went and signed a NI safety in free agency. Too much revisionist history going on there. The honest to god truth here, is that we don't know what kind of drafting we're going to get out of Kyle Walters because there is no track record. Oh sure there's talk about he liked that guy or he liked that guy, but we just don't know what he's going to do so until there is a track record it's premature to say he's good or not.
  17. when you look at the qbs who have played a long time lately, thinking Burris and Calvillo here, they have both been quite healthy and as soon as Calvillo started to take some hits and get hurt he was done pretty quick. Glenn isn't like that he's a pretty beat up player already in terms of injuries he's had and how often he does seem to come up hurt when he gets hit. Couple years I think are all you could realistically expect to get out of the guy. I think that's why he wants to be a starter so bad, get a couple more bigger paydays in before it's all over.
  18. Well any starting QB is a stop Gap until the next QB out plays the current starter. With glen being 34 yrs old, he could be our starter for 4 or 5 more years if someone doesn't out play him.. And if none of our younger QBs can out play him, then they shouldn't really be starting.. I get that QBs will grow quicker with more reps but all the reps in the world are not going to help if they just don't have it in them to be bonafide CFL starters. We should be going after the best QBs available.. Just like Ottawa did. If the Bombers think Willy, Hall, Broughm are better then Glenn, then that is their prerogative. But if they are wrong and Our Qbs **** the bed, then the Bombers are going to be in a world of hurt as the Fan base is already tired of the same old **** and fan support has been waning. No I don't for a second think Glenn can play until he's near 40. He's had too many injuries along the way and too many playoff collapses to last that long as a starter. He doesn't have a lot of time left in his playing career.
  19. I think you are all crazy if you think the Bombers would get Glenn and he'd be a backup. He'd still be better than the other qbs on the roster and he would start. The point right now though, is that we have a couple guys who look like they can probably play enough to move forward and Glenn at his age is a stopgap at most so is it worth giving up anything for a guy like that? Take him for cheap but don't pay to get him. Plus there's the whole **** Ottawa for thinking they can outsmart everyone by dumping huge money at Burris.
  20. So Calgary goes and gives the league a successful example of elevating a young starter with upside, and teaming him with an experienced, good-but-not-great backup... and TBurgess from the confines of his cozy British Columbia abode thinks that it is laughable to suggest that might work in Winnipeg? Calgary's been arguably the most successful team in the CFL since signing Kevin Glenn as its experienced, good-but-not-great, backup quarterback. Why wouldn't we try it, if the price were right? I wouldn't compare Willy with Tate just yet, Tate got to play a fair bit before they traded Burris did he not? Safe to say Calgary had a better idea what Tate was capable of with their team. Willy has played quite a bit more than Tate prior to Burris being traded. With a different team though, that's a pretty significant part of it.
  21. If we were discussing his actual article maybe but it's not that, we're discussion whether he's a poor writer or a terrible writer, entirely different.

  23. I'd much rather see the option window back. Having to let guys out of their contracts just bugs me because both parties know what they're getting into when they sign the contract and I hate to see people act like they are entitled to have their contract ended.
  24. That's a by-product of newspapers dying as a source of information. Too many other places for people to get their information so someone got the big idea that columnists needed to be the entertainment and it's a horseshit idea, mostly because Gary Lawless is not entertaining in any way shape or form. I'd rather read Paul Friesen because at least he is clear what his character is supposed to be.
