Matthews was basically Chris Jones dealt a better hand. His Grey Cups were DeWalt, Ham (team of all imports), Flutie, Flutie, Calvillo. All guys in their absolute prime. As soon as the situation turned, Matthews was gone. He never built anything is what I'm saying and had a lot of mediocre teams, parachuted into amazing circumstances. Buono built everything. O'Shea built everything here. Don Matthews is not someone I respect.

I don't see any risk in dressing that returner they just signed for a look. Maybe put in a play or two for him on O too. They don't even use Jackson on O. Losing a 260 lb guy chasing kicks shouldn't hurt if you keep Parker on to do that as well.

Don't think it was there, Hamilton was in bear fronts all night. The pass heavy stuff was smart, just need to attack width as well as vertical. Can get Oliviera the ball out wide too around the front.

Buono developed a bunch of QB's. Almost won with Danny Barrett who was not a great QB, Flutie, Garcia, Dickenson, Printers, Lulay. Matthews didn't. All vets all the time. DeWalt, Austin, Ham, Flutie, Calvillo...all at their peak.

Disagree. Oliviera has a ton of yards on them, Bailey over the years, used to get a couple quick ones out to Wolitarsky here and there, showed Calgary a little bubble to Lawler for 10 yards. We totally dropped that tonight when would have busted the blitz as opposed to some 50-50 bombs or potential INTs. Also when we go tempo Collaros is much better at going to the quick game. Could do that anytime in the game.

No it isn't. It's that you can use your DI (now called Designated American) and "nationalize" them so they can sub in for a designated Canadian starter instead of only being able to sub in for other imports/Americans. Same number of everything on roster, just more flexibility to sub in the DI's.

They had the best QB's and defenses. Although Matthews D didn't win much when he didn't have a hall of fame QB....even Roy DeWalt.

And when you're relying on so many 30+ guys part of that is insuring you have depth. And for guys like Willie, you've always needed depth because he's not an every down type DL. The pregame speech isn't it. The physical part of being ready to play is huge, and that's where not using your roster is biting us in the ass.

Only issue was range for both teams FG into the wind was about 10-15 yards less based on when they chose to punt vs go for 3 in each direction. So if it comes down to a final possession and kick that's a pretty big difference. Gameplanning passivity on D and Collaros antsy-ness in the pocket much bigger issues to me.

Not really. The guy can sub in for a Canadian starter designated 23 snaps. Can always sub in for another American. So if the started Haba and had Jeffcoat behind him as designated, Jeffcoat could sub in any down for Haba or another American, but could take out Thomas/Lawson for 23 snaps. No extra guy on roster.

Haba would be a nice rotational piece, but he's not ready for primetime. Hamilton attacked him with rollouts repeatedly, sweeps a couple times (one for 52 yards) and he always took the bait with the inside move. As a guy to come in for 2nd and long, sure. I'm not sure we really have the reliable 3rd rusher right now. But we can use the LB's we have dressed to give a lot of different looks and get pressure too.

Yeah Toronto used 4 tailbacks in that Montreal game. I can't see our D matching up well to that offense right now, but the game is in Winnipeg at least. Lot of money in Jefferson, Bighill, Rose, Alexander. Not a lot of plays by those guys lately.

I will never understand why Hall's gameplan for these inexperienced pop gun armed QB's is so passive. At least force the guy to make a throw. If he makes the throws, well at least you challenged the guy and forced him to make a play. Don't just hand it over. Nobody in his eyes, first read usually wide open with DB's sagged off 15 yards.
