  1. Caddy remarks? Something your caddy tells you? I think you mean catty remarks.
  2. There are no guarantees, but that doesn't mean that experience doesn't matter. Just look at the records of the experienced HC's vs the inexperienced ones. There is a better chance to win more games, get into the playoffs and win playoff games with experienced folks. No one is saying that there's no point in taking a shot on a rookie. I'm saying that a rookie comes with an increased probability of failure and a longer time frame to achieve success. There are 40+ players on the team. Some of them should be rookies. Some should be old vets. Some should be in between. There is 1 HC running things. Like QB, I think that should be an experienced person, for many of the same reasons.
  3. The Bombers hire inexperienced HC's (MOS,Burke,PLAP, Kelly, Berry,Hoffman,Reinebold), hoping that they will magically become good and that's part of the problem. Berry is the only one who is above .500, although MOS should catch him next year. PLAP and Berry are the only ones with playoff wins. When we hired experienced HC's (Daley, Richie, Murphy), 2 out of 3 were over .500 and Daley was never over .500 either with us or the Riders. 5 Playoff wins and 8 Playoff losses (Going back to '93, not including Murphy's 83-86 stint at HC where he was .659 5 wins and 3 losses in the playoffs). As I've already pointed out Trestman, C Jones and J Jones turned their teams around very quickly and they started with as bad a team as MOS did. It's ridiculous to assert that experience doesn't matter. It's not that some of us can't be pleased. Most, if not all of us, are happy with the results of the last 2 regular seasons and pissed that we can't win playoff games. Some of us want to set the bar higher than just regular season wins and that's not too much to ask for after 4 years of this regime.
  4. What a ridiculous suggestion/comparison. I compared the results of 3 experienced coaches taking over bad teams to MOS. I didn't suggest that every experienced HC could win the Grey Cup every year. I showed the actual results of hiring professionals compared to hiring guys who have to learn on the job. You may not like the comparison, because it doesn't show MOS in a great light, but at least get the comparison I'm making straight. I'm not suggesting that we blow everything up and start over this year. MOS has 2 more years on his contract, but if he doesn't at least win a playoff game next year, I'd be looking for an experienced HC to get us to the next level. 4 years without a playoff win is bad enough. 5 years should be a firing offense. While am at it... Firing the HC when we already have a good core of players isn't the same thing as starting from scratch again or blowing the whole thing up. It's making a change to try and change the results.
  5. We were the healthiest team in the league this year. I'll take play off wins over in season wins and Grey Cup appearances over one and done and Grey Cup wins over all of them. MOSS hasn't delivered any of that yet. Experienced coaching has.
  6. I wasn't suggesting that those guys were available. I was showing what experience does. I'll take wins over culture every day of the week.
  7. Toronto hired Trestman and won the Grey Cup this year. Riders hired Jones who got them into the playoffs and a playoff win in year 2. Hamilton's Jones turned that team around in half a year. It could be argued that he'd have made the playoffs if he'd had the whole year. All 3 of those coaches took over teams as bad as the one that MOS did. We chose MOS and we'll go into year 5 still looking for our first playoff victory.
  8. I think and hope that Ray sticks around. He's a great QB and great for the league. A competitive Toronto team is good for the league.
  9. Calgary - A smallish changing of the old guard is coming. The core will be the same, but Messam and others are going to be replaced. Edmonton - Franklin gone, but they'll try to keep the rest as intact as possible. They're close to being the best team in the league and could pull past Calgary next year. Winnipeg - Re-Sign our guys, fill a few holes where we lose FA's and pick up a couple of FA's. Consistency is still the buzz word. Even Hall is likely back next year. Regina - My guess for Franklin's new team, which means Glenn is gone. Should also be a bunch of other turn over as Jones loves to bring guys in. BC - It comes down to what Wally does. If he stays as GM or GM/Coach then their won't be a lot of change. If he doesn't then blowing up the whole thing is a very real possibility. Jennings gets another chance. Lulay is done as a QB and goes into coaching. Toronto - Ray stays. They continue where they left off this year and look like the cream of the East. Ottawa - Goes big in FA. Only a few pieces away from being a good team. Harris will be better next year. Hamilton - June Jones is back. Callaros is gone. My guess is to Montreal. Big turnover on this team too. Montreal - A bunch of old guys including Durrant gone. New coaches. New attitude. Big players in FA.
  10. I looked it up, and you're right. I guess I merged the good things into a single memory. Stupid old age.
  11. The Michael Gray INT was one of the sweetest plays ever. After so many years of almost good enough, we finally won the cup. Would have been my best memory, but I didn't make it to that game in person.
  12. '90. Was at the game on the 50 yard line about 15 rows up. My wife worked for the company who made the GC rings, so everything was comped from the tickets to the parties. Down on the field after the game watching the presentation and talking with the players. Great week.
  13. Fair enough. Personally, I think that the number of all stars we have, the FA signings and the drafting shows that Walters has mostly done a good job. Not perfect and the scouting still needs work, but I think he's giving the team the players that we need to win games.
  14. They are going to get sued anyway. Lying and denying won't stop that. The NFL settled for $1 Billion. The CFL will eventually have to pay ex-players.
  15. 4 years without a playoff win. How many more years do you think we should have to wait for a playoff win or a Grey Cup berth or even a Grey Cup win? Hint: Toronto did the first 2 in 1 year and have a shot at the third tomorrow.
  16. The players chose a players coach? What a surprise.
  17. Deny and lie. That's what happens these days. How 'bout admitting their's a problem and working towards a solution? Nah... Folks would call you stupid.
  18. I don't want to go back to the disasters of the past. I want to move forward to winning playoff games and eventually the Grey Cup and I'm not convinced that MOS is the HC to get us there.
  19. Why yes, I do mean 61 yard FG. Gotta re-read my posts before I click on Submit.
  20. 3rd and 4, down by 7 and you go for the FG? Worst call I've seen since going for a 1 yard FG, indoors at sea level. Maybe even worse than that.
  21. Only cuz you asked... Hardrick - Excellent signing. Part of the heart and soul of our O line. Neufeld - Perennial backup who has started 3(?) games in the last 2 years. Pretty good when he's healthy, but has been injured every(?) season that he was a starter. I'd guess he's one of those guys who lined up looking for a contract at Walters door. I hope we didn't pay him a bunch and I hope that one of the younger, cheaper, guys beats him out for his 6th O line spot next year.
  22. I think the Refs should follow the rule book and never call it, unless contact is made or the ball is snapped. The mistakes are the ones where the Refs call it early.
  23. I'm not satisfied with the progress. I was hoping for a playoff game year 1 and expecting one year 2. I was hoping for a playoff win year 2 and expecting one year 3. MOS gave us 2 years out of the playoffs and 2 years of one and done so far. I have to wait at least until year 5 to get the playoff win I've been expecting since year 2. (Don't tell my my expectations are out of whack, Jones matched them with Regina and Trestman matched them with Toronto this year). Getting rid of O'Shea, which shouldn't happen this off season, doesn't mean blowing everything up. We have a solid core of players that we'd keep when we change out the HC. As for PLAP... I didn't like him as our choice for OC, but unlike 17, I can see that he's done a very good job. He still make some dumb mistakes like not sticking with what's working, but overall, he's been just what we needed. Other teams will see that and he has HC experience, so I expect him to get at least one HC offer in the off season. The money and prestige are one thing, but the ability to make all the decisions himself will probably be the reason he takes a HC job. The Edmonton version of Deeboy would mock the Edmonton version of TBurg and tell him not to mock back. The Edmonton version of TBurg would mock back anyway.
  24. 4 Years. 2014, 15, 16 17
  25. Who is saying blow it all up? I'm simply asking... Are we progressing as fast as we should be and do we have the right guys in place to take the next step? I'd get rid of Hall and I expect PLAP to take a HC job. Those 2 changes may be enough to get us over the hump, or they may be the death of the MOS era.
