  1. I knew they were well paid - most people know that
  2. Did you two have any specific examples?'
  3. Yeah, some will be that way, just like there are in any other career.
  4. Geez, I don't know. Some of them literally worked dairy farm hours - I kid you not. For example, I had a chance to visit with Conservative MP Kelly Block. She flies home to Sask on weekends to meet with constituents. Fly home friday, meet with constituents Saturday and Sunday, get up at 3:30 AM monday to drive to Regina, to fly to Toronto, to fly to Ottawa.
  5. I have had an insider's view of both Parliament and the Legislature - it's not an easy job.
  6. Also - all players refusing to drink Budweiser Prohibition Brew have been released
  7. It's a fantastic teaching resource - lends itself well to teaching long term historical impact and reflective historical thinking
  8. My understanding is they are vetted and dealt with accordingly. I don't understand your weak PM comments. The safe country agreement was made in 2002. That's the crux of the issue, not whatever the PM or the POTUS are tweeting
  9. I think it's a product of having veteran mainstays to build around - now that the Bombers have that - scouting and drafting can provide the prospects to keep building.
  10. Refugees have been able to do this since 2002 - it's just that more are doing it now. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada–United_States_Safe_Third_Country_Agreement
  11. The article does not mention the third country agreement, nor does it quote any immigration lawyers or officials. Refugees who have not been granted asylum in the United States are permitted to cross the border and try to claim in Canada.
  12. Yep, Fort Garry I actually did try and liked. Waterloo Dark I enjoyed as well out in Ontario
  13. So - for someone just getting into to this - what would you guys recommend? As far as mainstream beers go I like Heineken, Guinness, Carling
  14. Ok, the point is only relevant if 100% of refugees die. Well actually, those people are using a loophole that allows them to enter legally. The loophole has existed for quite some time, when previous Prime Ministers were in power - it's just more noticeable with several crises around the world and attempted immigration bans south of the border. If you can explain how they're entering illegally, I'm willing to listen, but that's not what the immigration offices are saying. To be clear, I am also pro-life I simply believe that a child trapped by civil war in Southern Sudan or killed in an air raid in Syria, has the same right to life as an unborn fetus anywhere else in the world. Sure, some refugees may have made poor choices, but you can't paint all refugees with the same brush.
  15. Agreed. Being fluently bilingual should be a minimal requirement. I predict something similar to the Chretien era in Ottawa - which wouldn't be a bad thing if people the calibre Chretien, Martin, Axworthy et. al. were there to run the country.
  16. My wife is a lifelong die hard Sens fan. By extension, I tend to stick up for the Sens. So a little of all of the above...
  17. Sarcasm alert...
  18. Fantastic hockey now that the Sens are out - just superb
  19. Valuing all lives equally is not a prerogative.
  20. Defend the rights of all who cannot defend themselves - such as a refugee child who cannot defend itself. I'm not in a position to know how badly various refugees across the world need help - go ahead and share if you have something other than an opinion on that. I do know that nothing good can come out of people spending years in refugee camps, due to wars, famine, et. al. https://twitter.com/selkirkrecord
  21. He's just throwing a bone to his base. The Conservatives have MPs that need to have a talk with themselves. They claim to be pro-life but are anti-refugees - a life is a life.
  22. The Conservatives need MPs who can function in 2017. If Scheer has to keep them gagged the way Harper did, because of their socially conservative views, expect a few more Liberal governments
  23. Well, I should be able to tell my friend that he needs to have more than rye & coke at the bar, if he plans on being successful. See, my friend didn't have time to purchase anything else, but he didn't want anyone else doing it.
  24. If there is another team Canada - Mark Methot will be on the blueline - you heard it here first
  25. Great game! I'm sure even the naysayers can find a way to stomach it...
