It's becoming less and less about protecting people from a virus. I can't have a visitor in my house, but I can meet them at Tim's for a coffee Only 10 people can attend church, but 100s and 1000s can attend schools Virus protection my ass (donkey reference)

If those are your rules, I am good with that. I my classroom, the seating 6 feet apart, so they don't have to wear masks if they are seated. For some, this not good enough, even though it is exactly what the public health orders for schools specify.
-
This is all very frustrating from a school perspective. We have to make kids wear masks most of the day, while most people no longer care.

32% should mean many of the most vulnerable are vaccinated - which should decrease hospitalizations.

Some new and encouraging info.
-
Thank you. It is about time someone said this.

It's pointless when dozens of flights come in every day. The lack of local restrictions did not cause what we're seeing now.

Helle has earned the right to occasional flatness.

They have had a year to figure it out. To say they are being held to a higher standard than leagues who have played actual games...is ludicrous at this point.
-
Since someone took the time to this to do this: 1. Who is the mode? 2. Taking Jean Beliveau as the mean - we need to know how many standard deviations above the mean Marleau is. 3. We also need some form of weighted mean. Like, whatever the dude can provide. 4. Also, living in a visual society - we need all of it plotted on the normal curve.

I finally watched it. There's nothing unnatural about the fries...other than the fact that they're dried out and have nothing to grow bacteria with. Fried, flash frozen, fried again - there goes 99% of your moisture. But I'm sure they were hard as a rock after 2 weeks...

I think it would be better if they released info when they are certain about it. There's really no need for anyone to know that a third dose 'might' be needed. It's TMI and it feeds the skeptics as well as the 'and you thought vaccine would protect you' crowd.

I don't know as much about the rest of their food, but I know their fries have fewer preservatives than those of other fast food chains I know some people who work at Simplot in Portage, and what they have to say is very interesting. KFC fries are rather infamous amongst the workers there...

It is what it is. Having friends in the potato business, I can tell you that McD's has better quality control than anyone else. The same thing with chicken.

We can't handle the truth!

You really need to read what he wrote. Like, you really, really need to read what he wrote Just one example: the kid was intentionally left in a shed, the shed was set on fire - and you actually said and I will paraphrase: "that's vandalism, not bullying."

Our family doctor is running a vax clinic this Saturday. To most of the above: my point is that more people are protected from severe outcomes - which should be the primary concern.
-
Ok, thanks. Dad got contacted late last week, filled out paperwork today, getting jabbed on Saturday. So, the answer seems to be - the process is expedited when you're older.
-
We are? My dad turned 75 last month - he's getting his first dose on Saturday

With the province approaching 1/4 of the population vaccinated - one would think many vulnerable citizens (older, underlying conditions, et. al.) already have at least one dose.
-
They do. But unfortunately, that is also not sustainable.

"I need to drive my two-year-old to daycare tomorrow morning. To ensure we arrive alive, we won't take public transit (Oscar Grant). I removed all air fresheners from the vehicle and double-checked my registration status (Daunte Wright), and ensured my license plates were visible (Lt. Caron Nazario). I will be careful to follow all traffic rules (Philando Castille), signal every turn (Sandra Bland), keep the radio volume low (Jordan Davis), and won't stop at a fast food chain for a meal (Rayshard Brooks). I'm too afraid to pray (Rev. Clementa C. Pickney) so I just hope the car won't break down (Corey Jones). When my wife picks him up at the end of the day, I'll remind her not to dance (Elijah McClain), stop to play in a park (Tamir Rice), patronize the local convenience store for snacks (Trayvon Martin), or walk around the neighborhood (Mike Brown). Once they are home, we won't stand in our backyard (Stephon Clark), eat ice cream on the couch (Botham Jean), or play any video games (Atatiana Jefferson). After my wife and I tuck him into bed around 7:30pm, neither of us will leave the house to go to Walmart (John Crawford) or to the gym (Tshyrand Oates) or on a jog (Ahmaud Arbery). We won't even walk to see the birds (Christian Cooper). We'll just sit and try not to breathe (George Floyd) and not to sleep (Breonna Taylor)." These are things white people simply do not have to think about." -David Gray

They are not all selfish - many are just frustrated and disillusioned with the unequal application of the public health orders.

There's also a story about people in Manitoba who were together during a pandemic. During the first lockdown, most people bought in and the restrictions worked. During second the lockdown, people began to realize: That travel was not allowed unless you were flying. That it was mostly big box retailers who were allowed to stay open. I mean, come on, Dollorama sells very few essentials. I could go on all day... This and other exceptions led to people seeking out loopholes for themselves. In the third lockdown - like it or not - there's going to be more people digging a hole in the floor of the cabin.
