  1. Because you're missing the big picture. When contracts aren't guaranteed (like in the CFL) it doesn't matter the term you give a guy. It also was nowhere near as bad as the original terms that were reported depicted the deal to be. So all in all, the contract was handed out to keep an asset that ended up getting us a very good return. And no offense, but Kyle Walters has and always will have a better grasp of the market value of his players as assets than you or I will.
  2. And I turned out to be right.
  3. I also don't think you can give O'Shea anything less than 3 years. He signed for 3 years originally, you're extending him because he's done what you ask him to and now you give him less security than when you first hired him? I can't see it. Many people call years 1 and 2 a failure. I don't. I call them building the foundation. Was this year a failure for Saskatchewan? Or was it the time necessary to build the foundation for what is shaping up to be a pretty good team?
  4. I guess I should preface that by saying I'm assuming giving each of them extra years on their deals would lower the overall price tag. You don't get that many years unless you give up some dollars so that's how I'd imagine this working out.
  5. Meh, I happen to think it's a pretty darn good idea.
  6. I can't understand how he's employed still to be honest. He's a terrible GM who inherited an all-time great at the most important position on the field and has been living off it ever since. Ever since he's been forced to build a team without Calvillo, he's been far and away the most disappointing front office member in the entire CFL. He's a great talent scout and if he was canned, I'd have no problem if we were to hire him and truthfully, I'm quite sure he could get work as a NFL scout if he chose to, but as a GM he's absolutely miserable. The list of his mistakes reads like a novel.
  7. I swear I just read something in the CBA today that said for players with 1 year of "service" in the CFL, contracts are guaranteed after the 14th game.
  8. True. We definitely do have some spare part types kicking around for salary relief.
  9. I'm a big Ian Wild fan but the reality is, we're going to have to lose a few guys this offseason unless Walters is an absolute magician. We can't keep this team together as you see it, not with guys needing to be paid. We've got Nichols, Chungh, Cummings, Wild, Burnett, possibly a guy like Hardrick if he signed a one year show-me deal, Randle, Darvin and the list goes on. Where do you gain some money? From the spots you can promote depth and bid farewell to the entrenched money-maker. Ian Wild is a great football player. But I think with Burnett waiting in the wings, Wild may be expendable.
  10. We know
  11. I am so real
  12. At this point, you have to think Ian Wild may be on the chopping block for next year.
  13. It's going to be Posey.
  14. That second line is disgusting.
  15. For any of you degenerates out there who like to wager on sporting events. Keep us updated on how you're faring trying to win either bragging rights, money or in my case, beer. Tonight is night #1 for me of MCDAVID WATCH 4 points or bust.
  16. I was taking him anywhere, to be honest. Go big or go home. McDavid is easily my pick to win the Art Ross this year.
  17. I took McDavid fourth as well. Risto graded out well, again because of the volume of shots/hits he provides as a defender. It gets a little hazy but I think my picks in order to start were McDavid, Karlsson, Price, Kopitar, Wheeler, OEL, Doughty, Marchand
  18. I'm in an 8 team pool for a boatload of beers Here's how my team lines up: F: McDavid, Kopitar, Wheeler, Marchand, Saad, Palmieri, Domi, Spezza, Ehlers, Jenner D: Karlsson, Ekman-Larsson, Doughty, Ristolainen G: Price, Luongo, Greiss Tracks not only points, but +/-, powerplay points, shots and hits as well as the typical goalie categories (wins, shutouts, GAA, SV%) Jenner, Palmieri seem like random selections in an 8 team pool, but with the hits/shots totals being valuable, they were top 50 ranked players last year.
  19. Eichel with what looks like a serious leg injury at practice this morning.
  20. They're only everywhere else because they can't stand to stay where they're from.
  21. The obvious situation is Gurley starts over Feoli. I don't think there's a viable alternative. Smith isn't coming out.
  22. I get the point you're trying to make but that analogy isn't even close. Bond is arguably the best OL in the entire CFL.
  23. Doubt they can custom order those dinner plates in time.
  24. Booth review can be prompted for any reason at that point in the game.
