Is it just me or does it seem counterintuitive to pay up for the "ratio breakers" with the way O'Shea uses his roster? Don't get me wrong, I know the CFL is all about how good your Canadian talent is, but part of me thinks there's no point paying 250k+ for a star Canadian RB/DB/WR/whatever because we aren't maximizing our roster with the ratio to play the most American talent anyways. With the way MOS just plays 8-9+ marginal Canadian starters and rotates in 3-4 more, we'd almost be better off with 10-12 good but not great Canadians and save our money overpaying for the Canadian starter at a non-traditional position. I wish we would utilize the fact that we have the luxury of a Canadian RB by using the extra American on the DL or OL, but instead most games we just trot out 7+ more Canadians at the regular spots too...

Glass half full view is that maybe O'Shea having one foot halfway out the door this offseason is very positive for the next few season(s). If we had just quietly re-signed him and Walters to extensions, they probably just happily carry on with the status quo and continue the decline. I'm hoping that O'Shea going out and interviewing and getting some input from other teams lit a fire under his ass to come back here and do a serious re-load with a fresh outlook and new ideas.

Absolutely maddening depth chart. If we're so high on Canadian talent, why are our 2 talented rookie Canadian LBers not sufficient backups? It's to the point where we're rostering 2 DI LBs as backups along with them and once again completely nerfing the pass rush. Seems like we actually generated some pressure last week with the young DL on the roster. We'd better get them swapped off quick to get as many reps as we can for weary Willy, and tepid Thomas. Our DL is so washed up they don't even need to shower after the game.

Pure insanity that both him and O'Shea won't just say Strev is out and it's too bad for him. They keep saying they won't rule him out. With any other coaching staff, you know that that's just pure bluffing, but with these guys I wouldn't put it past them to run Streveler out there on 1 leg with a crutch under his arm to try and do short yardage...

DL is ass, QB is crap, Receivers are meh, OL is bad, secondary is poor, linebackers are washed... but at least the kicker and RB are solid.

Even if the CFL goes full stupid mode and Americanized everything (4 downs, essentially the same field & rules), it doesn’t make a lot of sense to make any sort of agreement or merger with the UFL. If the CFL is in dire straits financially there’s no logic in merging with another failing league and adding 8 more struggling/bankrupt franchises to the mess. Im much more inclined to think switching to the American game is a feeble attempt at aligning with the NFL and making the CFL into some sort of “NFL Canada” setup akin to NFLEurope of old. Basically you play NFL rules on NFL fields in Canada, but the NFL farms out dozens of practice squad players to Canadian teams as a development league, while keeping a handful of Canadian players on each roster (probably a lot less with less stipulations on playing them though). In return I could see the NFL propping up the CFL financially and maybe even expanding to Toronto and/or BC, leaving the remaining teams as a NFLCanada, the farm system.

Woli still has some tread left on the tires though if he's healthy. He's still been putting up consistent 500 yard seasons, and in a grey cup year with a plethora of receiver injuries, it should be a no-brainer.

Same here. And with hindsight, maybe we just weren't using Lawler to his full potential. Felt like with us we'd just toss up a couple 50 yard jump balls to him and he'd make a couple highlight catches. Hamilton is just using him as a stud in all situations and its working.

This kinda feels like this is it. The dynasty of the last 5+ years has come crashing down to earth. There's been a slow fade the last few seasons, but this season is the spectacular explosion at the end. We're pulling off a few wins on the back of luck and a bit of veteran guile, but it won't last nor is it a recipe for a competitive playoff team. The crappy part is that it's only going to get worse from here for a long while until they completely cut bait and clean house. At best we might manage a couple half assed seasons, but our time as a league capstone is firmly in the rear view mirror, this game proved it more than any.

Seems like a perfect chance to get Mitchell in with Case out, but it's Mike O'Shea so I fully expect the only changes to be Case + Ball off and Cobb + J.Jones on so we can start an extra Canadian and also roster a 12th LB.

Traded for a top 2 QB in the league that was tossed aside for scraps.

It sucks because Lawler is a very boom or bust receiver and Schoen is/was just a consistent reliable guy that you want, but the way Collaros plays he's not going to go for the easy yards to Schoen and wants to throw the risky deep jump balls that Lawler was a much better fit for.
