  1. Drew Willy being a Bomber was before me being a fan so I've only heard the horror stories about him... but I'll say this, if he wasn't 'broken' before he got to Montreal he sure as hell was by the time he left there... I bet the guy still hears the sound of d linemen chasing him down when he's pumping gas... poor guy...
  2. gotta do something to be able to afford $700,000 starters... just sayin'...
  3. Eastern Washington has been very good to the CFL...
  4. don't you mean "if" BLM comes back this season? first it was a couple of games, then 6 games, now it seem a little bit indefinite, which could very mean he doesn't return this season... after all, wasn't this an injury that he was aware of from before the season started and it was actually aggravated and not a new injury? also, Montreal actually beat Calgary, not Calgary beating themself or having a bad night and being unable to execute... I think Montreal could be legit... I'll say this, we play both Calgary and Montreal twice yet this season... I'm more concerned about the Montreal games than Calgary ones... may be wrong, but...
  5. why go I get this feeling in the pit of my stomach that Montreal just might be the team to beat? I've always said that the mark of a good team is if you see improvement week to week... Montreal for sure fits that description... took them a bit to come together but they are playing good ball... and a gutsy win against Calgary, nobody expected them to win or pull off getting the game into overtime, but they did... Getting Posey back sure make them look like a different O too...
  6. I think Streveler will do well... I think one of those intangibles that he has going for him is the chemistry with the team that most back ups don't really get the chance to establish... most back ups may come in for the short yardage package and run one play and then back off the field... Streveler gets a lot more playing time than your traditional back up and for that reason I think that the team will actually trust him more so than say, Dom or LeFevour in seasons past. Nichols' and Streveler's relationship on the sidelines seems very strong and I think everyone sees that. Also, Streveler is a good team mate and very vocal in cheering on the team... it's not unusual to see him high five-ing team mates coming off the field, O or D, for a series or play well done... And of course, Streveler plays really hard when on the field and has a overall great attitude about his role, and it's very evident... Sure, that has nothing to do with him reading a D, throwing a ball, or making a good decision, but, it does have a lot to do with how his team mates perceive and accept him coming in as QB1. Streveler's hard work and great attitude has prepared him and the team for this day... I don't think you'll see the let down in play that you do at times when a back up is thrust into the starting role... you have to believe that much like the fans, team mates too get concerned when a back up comes in, no, they won't say it publicly, but it's there... over all I think that the team will still believe that they can and should win games even without Nichols... the mental game is a big part of executing, as long as Streveler doesn't go out there and crap the bed early and often, I think you'll see little let down moving forward with Streveler...
  7. you would have thought that I would have remembered that as many times as they said during the game, lol... however, if it turns out to be The Year of the Back Up next year there probably won't be a league left... not sure there would be enough QBs to replace the amount of starters that went down this year, at least not good ones... lol...
  8. what? are we saving space on the front page for more "it's time to hand the ball to 'insert any random name here' " threads? if so, I didn't get the memo... sorry... should I ask you first next time?
  9. from this point forward, 2019 we be referred to and remember as "The Year of the Back Up QB"... it's official... I expect confirmation by the league at any time now... 😀
  10. you know why, right? he's no longer the back up...
  11. and lets not forget, he landed the hot chick as well...
  12. that's fair... but considering he will have a chance to work with the first team and possibly get a better game plan, with the advance warning he may just settle in and be fine... the long and short of it is, we can all sit here and speculate, let's give him a chance to be a 1 before we decide if he can be or not...
  13. compared to NIchols, how bad can Streveler be? I mean seriously, in the last 3 games we are 2-1... during those games Nichols has thrown for 169, 177, and 179 yards... last night he was 10 /12 and 179 yards... 2 of those passes alone accounted for 104 yards... not knocking Nichols, just saying that we have a good support for the O from teams and the D... surely Streveler can duplicate close to the passing numbers and we have to know that he'll make up the difference with his feet, and maybe more...
  14. much like Nichols, Streveler's success will have a lot to do with what Lapo gives him to work with... let him work with the #1's with a game plan that isn't 90% running plays of him and Harris... let him work out of the gun and stay away from those gimmick plays Lapo likes to call for him... give him a balance game plan... he'll be fine...
  15. agree with you 100%... and will add, if Nichols isn't hurt, I hope that Lapo seizes this opportunity to actually assist Nichols in being successful instead of this roller coaster mind screw he's been doing to him for a season and a half in the game plan he gives him...
  16. you act like I was dissing Nichols or calling for Streveler to be put in the game, done neither... we get the ball back with less than 2 mins remaining, QB1 is out, QB2 is the automatic go to then, what do you expect him to do, honestly? pretty sure that we all knew that 1 of 2 things was going to happen from that moment on, 1) he hands it off, or 2) he runs it himself... both of those options are being called in by a coach, not an independent thought process going on here... Was he amazing? I guess only as amazing as one can be handing off a ball to someone else... But was he terrible? no, only because it's damn near impossible, not completely impossible but pretty close to it, to be terrible at handed another person a ball... I hope from this point forward 3 things happen/take place: 1) that Nichols isn't hurt and can play the rest of the season... 2) that Lapo gets his head out of his a$$ and tries to be intelligent in his play calling, both for Nichols and Streveler... 3) that the coaches in general also get there heads out of their a$$es and give Streveler multiple series with a game plan designed for him, without the stupid cute stuff or all runs, at an appropriate time in a game that we are winning so we can all actually evaluate him... Lapo should be fined by the club for the crap he pulled tonight...
  17. I completely agree, even said so at the time here... I am all for Streveler getting reps, but not when our QB1 is actually having himself a nice little run against the Lions... you don't yank him out and let him get 'cold' sitting on the sideline, especially that early in a game and only up by 7... Lapo really makes me wonder what the heck is going on in his world with the stuff that he does... Matty was actually earning his Matt Dimes nickname in the 1st, lol...
  18. would you have preferred he thrown an interception or something?
  19. managed to run out the clock and not give the ball back... and , he can only runs the plays that are called for him...
  20. that's right, because with what our D and Special Teams did, we should have won by 40, not 16... 6 turn overs by the O...
  21. were not, lol... just pointing out that we didn't have many yards is all... I guess we can all just act like it didn't happen...
  22. he closed out the game nicely... that hasn't always been accomplished this year by Nichols...
  23. only 64 yards of offense in the 2nd half, 23 of those yards in that last drive... ugh, not pretty, even with the short field position we enjoyed...
