Checking in from Saskatoon, SK... Nearly the heart of the enemy. Was out at a club last night in a Jets hoodie and surprisingly didn't get any heat.

I feel like this is a no lose day for us. With all the back up's playing, we're not supposed to win. If we do, it's a miracle upset. I feel really relaxed about LD for the first time...

Regina produces a different breed of Saskatchewanian.

Edit: Regina is the heart of the enemy, you're in the brain.

  2. Isn't it human nature to release your emotions at sporting events? When the team is doing well, you're happy, you cheer, when the team does poorly what are you supposed to do? Detach your emotions from the team and not care?

Of course I just sit there observing no matter what is happening, but for you full-humans out there, cheering and jeering is a two-way street. Perhaps now as his performances have worsened, Nichols will learn this. For those of you who are against booing that's your prerogative, now don't try to take away someone else's freedom of expression.

Wasn't it a live mic game on Friday?  I'm guessing that might have something to do with it. Would be kind of pointless to have the live mics just being drowned out by the fans.

And am I the only one who gets absolutely nothing from the live mics?  I couldn't really care less to hear about 95% of what they pick up.

    It wasn't.

Prices are playing a factor as well.  $99 for tickets between the 20 yard line and goal line that remain largely unsold for most games...same with the $70 seats in the corner end zones.  Concession prices - ie. bottle of pepsi that was $3.50 during the last year at the old stadium increased to $5 in the first year at the new stadium and is now $6 or $6.50.  To his credit, Wade hasn't completely turned a blind eye to this by offering family packs and student packs for single games and  season tickets and some food packages but there is more work that needs to be done.

If you don't sell out the cheap seats first, not many people will "walk up" and buy $70-$100 seats from a mostly unsold section.

College football in terms of quality of talent is lower than CFL (I don't think that's even debatable) as well but for some reason they pull in massively higher attendance numbers than our league, I'm not even talking about the SEC. It's not about quality it's about the culture. For some reason people have been brain washed into thinking CFL is an inadequate product but Americans can continue to attend tier 3 college football games with teams that get blown out year after year. It's about pride not product.

Prestige accounts for a variety variables, and to keep the topic relevant, speaking for Winnipeg and its people's entertainment time/dollars, the NHL is a much larger draw than the CFL.

I've had seasons tickets for the last 15 years (i'm 25) have been paying for my own since I turned 18, I understand it's a bit of a commitment to get to every game and I don't expect that from the casuals. I just don't understand how people find all this time and money magically in the winter to go watch a hockey team that plays 41 home games a year plus playoffs, then pays $20 for parking.

Bombers season tickets are CHEAP compared to even buying half a season for the Jets and they provide WAY more options to commute. The weather is beautiful, the product has been good lately, and the atmosphere is way more fun than sitting in that cold arena.

    my 2 cents.

While value works in the Blue Bombers favour, the weather works against them as much as it works for them, people have and/or find more things to do in the summer months, and there is far less competition for the Jets in the winter months.  Also keep in mind that the drop-off from the NHL to the CFL is steep.

That has to be the most insane argument i've ever heard. If you have to drive past these restaurants on your drive to the game anyways who the hell cares how close they are to the stadium? Besides Boston pizza, and multiple other restaurants offer a shuttle service.

It's those extra steps that could be a turn off.

I am not arguing, I am presenting an idea that could possibly explain why a particular poster and those who agree with them feel that way. I have no opinion on the matter, you should know this.

sounds like you have quite a drive to the stadium, couldn't stop somewhere on the drive there or are you just complaining for no reason.

Perhaps he finds it more desirable to eat and/or get a drink near the stadium as opposed to somewhere on the way.  Hypothetically, if given both options, ask yourself what you would rather do. For example, Bell MTS Place has multiple restaurants and bars within a two block radius, would you rather stop somewhere on the drive, such as on Regent, Provencher, St, James, West Portage etc. before a game, or somewhere within that two block radius? It appears that blueandgoldguy has a comparable to hold Investors Group Field up to. His "complaining" appears to have reason.

I do think that the Bombers need to make some big improvements to the game day experience to keep those who do go coming back.  Improvements like if they have a band playing at half time, make sure that you can actually hear it in the stadium (that has happened twice now, which is absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing).

Are there statistics on half-time bands and other "game-day experience" gimmicks and their affect(s) on attendance?
