  1. Streveler is not going to be the biggest problem as long as the Neufeld factor does not get him in a hospital bed and as long as his confidence holds up while he learns. Good chance this kid makes it some day as a starting QB in the CFL if the Bombers don't manage to ruin his confidence like they did with Willy.
  2. Demski had 4 catches for 32 yards in his first game. Projecting that forward it will be 576 yards for the season. Not bad, but not really any different from JFG, who was alot easier on the cap space.
  3. Riders have an absolutely great defense and an experienced QB. That is all any team needs to be in the hunt for first in the West. The last time Bombers knew what they were doing, 35 years ago, that is how they always manged to be in the hunt, year after year.
  4. They were getting ZERO pressure on the 4 man rush and Reilly was going deep and easily completing intermediate routes whenever they did that. That's why they were blitzing all the time. CJOB specifically commented on this multiple times through the game. Ogopogo was useless - one of his worst games as a Bomber, and Jeffcoat appears to be less than average now that the rookie luck has run dry. It is probably simplistic thinking, but it appears the Bombers coaching, just like the Bomber fans, figure that Bighill is the savior and is going to do it all himself by blitzing every down.
  5. Over 500 actually. And the kicker is that I bet Willy gets 500 against this D next week...
  6. Have not changed the players in the secodary. The only one new is gaitor and he came from a BC secondary that was almost as bad as the Bomber secondary. This does not lie at halls feet, this is entirely on walters, the scouting staff, and OShea and Walters for doing a really bad job evaluating talent and personnel.
  7. Basically Bombers are a team with a decent but not great offence and a terrible defense. Thus is how it has been for 3 years now and it looks like it will not be changing. Without Nichols or Streveler scoring 40 points a game, I dont see this team getting above 4th place in west. Given rhe lack of a respectable defense, if Nichols is out for long, I stand by the 4 and 14 prediction.
  8. Reilly magic should win this one. Bombers D is outclassed on this one, but lets hope they get very lucky and can hang on.
  9. Not the way you want, but he is getting the experience, which will be useful late this season and next. After 6 starts, bombers will have a backup with more starts than what most other teams have.
  10. Lots of positives in this one. Bombers will be OK with Streveler in there. Definitely better than years past. May or may not win this one, but they will have good chances in the next 4 starts, considering who they play.
  11. Bombers secondary stinks and this is how they will lose their games. To beat the Bombers all teams know you just go deep as often as you can.
  12. He is getting past his best before date, and if that is the best the Bombers secondary has, then they may be in trouble.
  13. Not terrible so far. The delays and weather conditions actually help the Bombers. Defense has some issues, not sure yet if they are that much better than last year. Concern that Bighill is already hurt. Why are Bomber players just not as tough and robust as the rest of the league? Training or prep not there? Or is it just too many players on the downside of their careers? Streveler has been better than I expected and there is upside because he will get better. Bombers still in tough to win this one, but not embarrasing themselves...
  14. Happened before and you know the Riders win in that case.
  15. LOL Speculating that Nichols takes much longer than 6 weeks...
  16. WEST 1. Edmonton - 14-4 2. Calgary - 13-5 3. Saskatchewan - 12-6 4. BC 10-8 5 Winnipeg 4-14 EAST 1. Hamilton - 11-7 2. Toronto - 10-8 3. Ottawa - 7-11 4. Montreal - 5-13
  17. So is it Hall's schemes or the players? There has been huge debate over that the last few years. I agree that Bighill is a great player, but Fenner is a step down from Mo in my opinion, serviceable but not an all-star. Remains to be seen how much of the problem is scheme - we are likely going to get a good idea on Thurs night. -Cheers!
  18. Good. Keep the faith up for me too then! Cheers!
  19. That's true, and that's what we are all hoping, but it is not proven yet what the impact will be in that Ritchie Hall defense.
  20. The defense was actually not that bad during those years, in fact, it may be better than Bomber of 2017, who were pretty terrible defensively. You are all banking on that defense not being the same this year, but I am not sold yet. I don't hold alot of optimism over what is likely to happen, but there is always a chance. It might actually be in Bombers favor that it is the first game and there will still be some rust and communication issues to work out in that high-powered Edmonton O. Just as a little reminder, here is what Edmonton did to that defense in the last meeting. I might add that the score really flattered the Bombers who were pretty much man-handled and just made it look close in Garbage Time. If this is the team that shows up, which is my position by default, this could get embarrassing early.
  21. You are doing great. I enjoy your posts and the threads you create. You are a very optimistic and upbeat person and there is nothing wrong with that! That said, I think one game thread with a day or two of lead up in it is sufficient instead of a separate pre-game thread and a game thread - just my personal preference, but to each his own!
  22. Agree 100% Why scout a guy like Streveler when they are not prepared to use all his physical gifts?
