They were wrong, clearly. They're human. The only problem that he had, was being really shy, affecting his interviews  -- and  being the target of nonsensical rumors and speculation, ( like we see on here)  and frankly - blatant lying - at the time of the draft.  He was and still remains close to many of  his past teammates, and works with is previous coaches off season, helping with younger players etc.  Calgary has helped bring him out of his shell, thanks to a coach who thought for himself, and could see beyond the BS.  SMH that some haters, are still at it, even after it being clear there's been no problem.  As he is always, he's been a stellar teammate, and hard working player for Calgary, NO ISSUES at all. Stop perpetuating the madness. #TobyMentality

Like life, the interview just like the Combine is part of the process to get a job. If a player doesn't do well in the interview because of shyness or nervousness, he may not get the job as happens in the working world.  Durant  didn't do well in the interviews which we all know. Maybe teams put too much stock in them when they really should concentrate on the measurables & performance on the field instead.

Those pro GMs appear to have gotten it wrong.

And you know, how????? Just speculating like you always do about Hellebuyck being our future goalie too? You don't know squat about Durant.

I don't know what kind of problems you refer to as I had said earlier on prior threads regarding Lemar Durant that Durant he had no personal issues & was a great team guy at SFU.  My son was a qb  at SFU & he threw a few TD passes his way when they played together. The man is shy & introverted.  A bit of a loner. He kept to himself & is quiet.  He worked hard in practice everyday as well as games  & was a beast in the weight room during & between seasons.  He did everything the coaches at SFU asked him to do.
Some of the questions asked in these interviews are designed to throw off the players. Like Jim Barker accusing a player that if the Argos drafted him he'd go back to his hometown CFL team after his first contract, so why should they draft him? Like what is a player supposed to say to that??? "NO!!! PLEEEEEAAASSSSEEEE!!!" Apparently, Durant didn't handle the interview phase well, but don't label him a guy who had problems when he didn't. Look at the player he's turning into now.

@WBBFanWest Sure, I can see why there was a consensus. A shy guy is hard to get to know in a 15 minute interview.  There was no rant - it was merely a response.  Thanks.

FWIW - I did the Google thing.  Read spring 2015 pre-draft articles from Cgy Herald, Cgy Sun, CFL.ca, Sportsnet (via Forde), National Post and a couple post-draft articles, too.
Couldn't find one reference to character issues for Durant.
Of the reasons I could find that validated his stock dropping were unfamiliarity with the Canadian game and rules, as well as possible NFL interest.

Durant was an outstanding teammate at SFU. He gave the coaches no problems at all. Always worked hard in practice & games. He was a beast in the weight room. He was a beast on the field as well capable of dominating games all by himself. He's a quiet guy. Very shy. Doesn't say a lot. Let's just say the only team that got it right about Durant were the Stampeders. The Bombers picked Richardson before him so Walters blew it. As Ace_Wells said, Durant's no headcase. How do I know? My son was his qb at SFU for 3 seasons & always had great things to say about Durant. I'll take his word over some random fans here trying to say things that aren't true to justify the Bombers not selecting him.

Feel free to look me up - links on my profile. No relation at all. Definitely not. I'll wait.
As for Mr. Durant? I think you're drunk. Why would you make such an insane assumption, without research? Oh wait probably the same reason someone would paint him out to be a villain, yet have zero corresponding evidence. I guess that's expected on this forum.  Your rivals.
As far as knowing him because I've watched a few games - I can't say I know him, I said I am familiar. I am definitely MORE familiar - being that I have followed him, my daughter actually knows him -- than someone who is acting like they know him stating he's a headcase, with authority.
The mention of accomplishments, and who celebrates them --  was not around thinking he's any different than any other CFL player as you suggested....it was the fact that IF he was who the above user was claiming -- he sure has tight relationships with all the people who he's worked with closely. Nutshell- that claim is garbage.
Anyways, I'm done here. Ya'll do what you're comfortable doing.
    GL this season.

Mr. Wells, you are correct that Durant is not a head case. That is a gross exaggeration of what happened to Durant at the draft. HOWEVER, it was discussed by media and confirmed by CFL insiders that CFL GMs found Durant to be odd and were put off by his interviews at the combine. That doesn't make him a head case, but he apparently does not make a very favorable first impression and that worried a lot of CFL GMs.
Is a first impression always a correct one? Of course not and the Stamps are probably feeling pretty good about picking Durant.

Richards is awful and had no business being picked over LeMar Durant. Guys like Poblah and even Etienne couldn't stay in the league, and they're far better players than Richards.
