  1. For anyone interested, the different Wing Offenses. https://wingt-coach.com/rick-darlingtons-single-wing-power-series/ http://www.coachwyatt.com/system.html https://www.football-tutorials.com/wing-t-offense/
  2. There are HS football teams in the States today that still run Double Wing & rack up hundreds of yards each game rushing. I don't think there are any who run single wing as their base offense. The Wing T is another offense that is great for misdirection. It employs 4 running backs. I think the Bombers ran the Wing T offense. Ken Ploen ran that offense at Iowa & Bud Grant wanted to run it here so he recruited Ploen right out of college. They used it with great success for a decade. The Double Wing & Wing T are still used today & are dangerous, viable offenses.
  3. You're thinking Double Wing. The qb was called The Spinner in the Double Wing. He would spin the opposite way from the hole the running back was going thru . The Fullback was called The Sniffer as he was lined up just behind The Spinner's butt. Like a yard behind. As an OC we used the Double Wing in bantam football here in Calgary. The Ol had no splits. It was just push ahead for the Hoggies & the back find the hole. In the Wedge, all the linemen aim for the same DL pushing him back about 15 yards. It was an offense from the 1920's but man, did it work! Only problem was leakage as DL could come around the Wedge & tackle the RB from behind. Only problem for the defense was by the time someone did we already got the first down. I switched to that offense mid season as we had a qb who could make all the throws but only one receiver who could catch. Our kids dropped so many catchable balls & we left TDs on the field every game. And we were 1-3 going nowhere including being shut out twice in 4 games. After a 15-0 loss to a bantam team we should have defeated, frustrated I went home, stayed up all night & brought in a Double Wing offense. Our OL loved it, our backs loved it, our qb loved it as he got to do a bootleg behind The Wedge & block downfield which he also loved. Our receivers loved it as they didn't have to catch anymore so the pressure was off & all they did was block. We went from a running attack of less than 50 yards a game to almost 300 yards a game. We won some ball games last half of the season & actually made the playoffs. Every defense hated playing us because we were such a physical offense.
  4. Coach was named Smut?
  5. I never watched ECW. Just for that reason. Using fire & barbed wire in matches. Jumping thru tables. No thanks.
  6. I checked Payton's stats. He had 6 qb sacks in both 91 & 92 & 22 in 93. Was he still a linebacker or had he made the switch to DE by that time? I looked but I couldn't find the answer. I'm wondering if he had as players just don't usually go from MOR numbers to astronomical numbers playing the same position.
  7. These guys see part timers like Shane McMahon doing stunts like jumping off a 40 foot steel cage onto a table & get glorified for it. Some of them think that doing these dangerous spots will get them noticed by WWE. Or make them famous online.
  8. Did you see the video of the wrestler who jumped off the top turnbuckle, did a moonsault, missed the table & landed head first with his head bouncing off the floor? MY ******* God that was one of the sickest things I have ever seen. His head hit the concrete like a coconut falling out of the tree. I'd like to know if he is going to be okay. he suffered a fractured skull & a brain bleed. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6517263/Wrestlers-rope-dive-goes-awry-sending-crashing-head-concrete-floor.html
  9. Maybe time away means avoiding jail time. These guys just piss (or smoke) away their careers.
  10. Depends if Putin or the Chinese wants him back or not.
  11. Another beast was Phil Minnick, Played for the Bombers from 1965-70, 1972 & 73. Lost the entire 71 season recovering from a serious knee injury which shortened his playing career. He was a tough as nails MLB & played the same physical way as Adam Bighill did this season. Ib my mind, he was just as good as another famous MLB from the Stampeders, Wayne Harris. Easily the best player on the field defensively for both teams (except when the Bombers played Harris. Then it was a wash). When Minnick was lost for the 1971 season it was a huge loss. He came back for the 1972 & 73 seasons but was moved outside as there was another great middle linebacker in Mickey Doyle who also was a dominant backer in the middle that had taken his place. I'd like to nominate both Phil Minnick & Mickey Doyle as MLB's as they both deserve to be on that list.
  12. Ulmer played in the 65 Grey Cup. He was a great player on a very bad team as that 65 Grey Cup team would be the only great team he'd play on. Ulmer played on some brutal teams between 1967-70. Felt bad for the guy. It must've been a frustrating experience. He never whined about it or demanded out like running back Dave Raimey did & was traded to the Argos. I respect Ulmer a lot for always playing hard, never complaining & seldom winning.
  13. The best linebackers we had were Greg Battle in the middle & West & Jones outside. Absolutely freaking dominant. I think the best 3 starting linebackers together on any team & any time period in CFL history.
  14. I absolutely loved the way Brian Herosian played safety. For a few short years he was the dominant safety in the CFL before his tragic car accident. But the best safety we ever had was Paul Bennett without a doubt. He deserves to win this round of the competition at that position.
  15. He really could throw a football through a car wash & it wouldn't get wet because the ball was bigger than the car wash, itself & destroying it.
  16. He played on the edge, yes. But no worse than other hard hitting safeties at the time.
  17. He had to be as he built the place all by himself.
  18. The House That Jack Built.
