And the guys that played today's style of game in the 80's was Ham, Clements & Wilkie. They'd have torn up the defenses of today as they could spread the ball around to a plethora of different receivers. Especially Clements & Wilkie who didn't have guns for an arm. They were just very, very smart. And they'd be very, very smart today.

MBT better than Brock? Clements?? Dunigan??? The only one nuts here is you pumping the tires of a CFL retread & pro football journeyman like MBT.
-
Let's look at 1984. MBT would never have beaten out Tom Clements & john Hufnagel in Winnipeg, Dieter Brock in Hamilton, Warren Moon in Edmonton, Roy Dewalt in BC, Condredge Holloway & Joe Barnes in Toronto, JC Watts in Ottawa, Maybe he could have beaten out a young Danny Barrett in Calgary or Turner Gill with the Concordes in Montreal. Although both qbs played behind horrible offensive lines & had to scramble for their lives constantly. MBT was a pylon compared to both these guys. The only team he may have been able to play for was the Saskatchewan Roughriders who had a fading Joe Paopao as their qb. But could he tear up the league & just walk into a starting spot on any team in 1984? No, he's not good enough. Sure with guys like John Helton, Tony Norman & Dave Fennell running down his slow as molasses ass. #pylon

What are you getting at? As clear as mud.

I haven't paid attention to what you're posting. All I know is you're whining about losing Xmas because of Pallister.. People have been losing more than that when they are sick. I live in a Province where the Premier has lost no sleep over anyone dying from Covid. All he cares about is pleasing his Neandertal rural base here as that's all he has left. He doesn't give a **** how bad this virus gets. He won't bring in mandatory masks & he even told the media this week that he doesn't believe everyone should get vaccinated. Just like Trump today doing a rally in Georgia. Same damned thing. No masks. No social distancing. A super spreader event. He doesn't give a ****, either. So, no apology just because you're put out Pallister cancelled Xmas.

Dunigan played with no fear. He could run & throw. It did shorten his career. Whereas Mitchell doesn't like to run or get hit. And I believe Dunigan had the respect of the entire locker room on every team he played on. There was no doubt who was in charge when he put on his helmet at practice or Game Day. Whereas Mitchell admits his ego got the best of him after winning the 2014 Grey Cup. He was centred around himself.

MBT tearing it up? In 84? No. He still throws too many interceptions & has too many turnovers. That's like saying defenses were very simplified back then so Jason Boltus would have been an All Star.
-
He made the anthem about him... Which it shouldn't be.
-
Dunigan is one of the all time Greats. He was better than Collaros & Mitchell. Although Mitchell could have played in any era. Same with Reilly.
-
Jason kenney playbook for sure. That cowardly little weasel knows he's lost Edmonton & most of Calgary but he's afraid of alienating his alt right country base. Now he's "threatening" targeted restrictions for Calgary & Edmonton. Funny how that works. I say bring it.
-
Mitchell, Reilly, Adams, Harris, Collaros (when healthy). Massoli, Evans. They could play & that's six from CFL teams in 2019.
-
You have a Premier who cares & he is at 32% approval while we have Kenney who doesn't care how many people die & is a ******* ideologue pandering like a coward to his base. He's at 40% here in Alberta. How is that possible?
-
What's Kingsbury going to say? That Streveler can't? Wouldn't he look foolish?? Sure he can play but the question is can he be a long term starter if Murray goes down long term with an injury? If I was a Cards fan I'd be more concerned about that over wheter he can run short yardage.
-
She never would have picked health care workers & physicians as scapegoats. That somehow they are responsible for out debt & deficit here in Alberta. I think we would have gone into some kind of lockdown by now.
-
Kenney is second lowest in popularity of the Premiers. He just has this air about him that he is an ideologue protecting his base & whether it's 500 deaths or 50,000 that he doesn't care one bit.

CBC report says situation in hospitals is very serious. The province has requested field hospitals from both the Red Cross & the federal government. This is what we get for putting the economy over peoples lives.
-
But who said? Bomber fans.
-
Same.
-
I have no reservations. When it's available I'll get it.

But alas, the NFL doesn't work that way. Short yardage isn't like it is up here. We were running the same type of plays 10 years ago the NFL is now. The starter stayed in. We'd also had our qbs hand off to the back 5 yards deep on a search play. Or run a qb sneak up the middle. Very little imagination. There was no specific short yardage units in thr CFL. I believe John Hufnagel was the first CFL coach to run a special short yardage unit.
-
You're probably right.
-
No one here hates Streveler. We all want him to do well but the NFL is a different game. I think special teams is more important up here in the CFL than the NFL as they have an extra down to work with on a smaller field. So, the style of play he has just isn't as important in the NFL. Which is why he shone in the Bomber offense last year. He has to learn to make all the throws if he wants any kind of future in the NFL. Taysom Hill is learning that now as QB of the Saints while Brees is out. It doesn't matter now if he can play running back, qb or receiver. It's can he move the ball for 60 minutes running the entire offense? Not just a handful of plays designed for him. Time will tell. Can Streveler play in an NFL offense & be effective moving the ball or is he just a niche qb who comes in on short yardage? I also said that once a player leaves he is a former Bomber to me. He's no longer here & although I'd like to see him do well. I didn't become a Cardinals fan because he plays for them. Nor will I be. So, I look at him as just another NFL rookie trying to do well & keep his job.

In honor of Heinz.... Back in the 70's...

Here's the thing. The Cards aren't doing it because they don't want to. Simple as that. There are so many qbs out there that they don't need to. I think Kingsbury will evaluate the backup position this off season & decide whether he wants to bring in an NFL veteran to play behind Murray next year,
