  1. I get loyalty to a player who has been a proven performer. However, I don't understand how O'Shea can cut players at other positions for not playing well & yet give a pass on a kicker who has barely shown he belongs. Makes no sense to me. I just hope we aren't scrambling to find a kicker on June 9th.
  2. Snow is snow, yes. But fall snow & football go together. Fans are invested in their teams as the playoff are on. Not during TC. It's just different timing. How are teams supposed to prepare for the season when the weather in the Prairie Provinces is so shittty in April. And rest assured, it always is.
  3. Pre season is to finalize the roster & get the team ready for the regular season. Letting rookies try to distinguish themselves. Losing these games mean nothing. In the late 1960's & early 70's when I was just becoming a longtime fan & knew diddly squat about football, all teams used to play 4 pre season games., You know how many times the Bombers went 3-1, 2-2 or even 4-0 getting fans all riled up & excited about the season ahead only to go 4-12 or 2-14?? Too many times. Fans like me would get sucked in by the pre season success & then wonder why the bottom fell out of the Bombers during a prolonged losng streak during the regular season. Winning pre season games doesn't equate into winning regular season games. Do the coaches want to win? Sure but winning isn't Job #1. Evaluating players is. As well as getting out of these games healthy. I guarantee you Mike O'Shea is sleeping soundly tonight if they did that.
  4. The Bombers bad luck signing veteran CFL free agent receivers continues with Saunders being released & now charged by police. If we didn't have bad luck, we'd have no luck at all.
  5. Tricky D i c k Thornton as a Bomber. One of the more colourful players who ever put on a Bomber uniform. Helluva Safety as well. Thornton knocking a pass down in the Fog Bowl from Hal Patterson in 1962. Thornton thought he was the best QB on the roster in Winnipeg. He felt he was better than Ken Ploen as a passer. He wanted to switch from defense where he was an all star. Bud Grant said no. His QB stats are pretty abysmal. Story goes that he had some signs made up saying, "We Want Thornton" & paid some kids to carry them around at a Bomber home game for all to see. Thornton #14: 1965 Grey Cup. Thornton & Dave Mann had Directors Chairs in the Argo locker room that no one could sit in but themselves. Thornton's chair says, "Trick". Media in Winnipeg & Toronto loved him. Always quick with a quote when he had something on his mind. Rest in Peace, Trick.
  6. I've been saying this for years. The CFL big forehead thinkers are clueless. It's very frustrating. Someone like Victor Cui should be running the CFL marketing. The guy understands & knows how to grow the league.
  7. Until this goddamned labour dispute or whatever you call it is over, I'm done with the countdown. Eff it.
  8. Why strike? Just keep playing off of the old CBA? The ship of fools that is the CFL & CFLPA...
  9. What a sad, sad situation we have right now.
  10. Just Google "Matt Dunigan Bombers" then click on Images & scroll down until you see it.
  11. Thanks for letting us know.
  12. Tyler used to do that at practice. Or stand at the 40 yard line & hit the uprights.
  13. If the Players want an 8th Canadian then get rid of the one year deals. Standard CFL contracts would be 2 years or longer. Give up something to gain aniher.
  14. Nice history lesson but what jobs will Canadian players be protecting if the league shuts down or ceases operations? Which is a real possibility. Pissing the fans off by shutting things down won't win them any support from the public. If the CFL does shut down then tertiary support staff will lose their jobs thru layoffs on teams & the league office. Training staff, coaches, scouts, sales & marketing people, admin & secretarial, etc. Yep, pick this hill to die on, Canuck players. Right after a pandemic. You make sure to fight like crazy to protect your jobs but to hell with the lives of everyone else. . No skin off your nose ifinnocent people have to pay bills or put food on their tables to feed their families. Selfish idiots.
  15. Matt Dunigan Michael Bishop Robert Marve Kliff Kingsbury Taylor Loffler
  16. This is ridiculous. If it bothers you so much call the Bombers.
  17. We already pay lower salaries to Globals like Thiadric Hansen who deserve more money & don't get it because of the CBA. U sports does the developing. That's why they're there. The only way a player truly develops is to play. Not constantly practice.
  18. We already have an All Canadian football league called U Sports & no one watches or cares. They don't even fill 2,000 seat stadiums. You'd be watching alone as no one would come with you.
  19. Imagine if Alberta brought in a law to strengthen the English language in our province at the expense of French language rights. We'd be pillorized & labelled as racist rednecks. Trudeau would threaten bloody hell. Yet, there he is sheepishly saying, "We'll defend English rights, sort of... We think". Worrying more about votes in Quebec then English language rights. The saddest & most racist government in this country is Quebec, Alberta has nothing over those guys. Sadly, this has been proven time & time again in the past.
  20. I think once he would have struck me that would have been it as I know I'd have got the guy for assault. I hope I'd be a little smarter than Langley was. Certainly that UA employee won the prize for Dumbass Employee Of The Year.
  21. It cost Langley a shot at making the Stamps so right or wrong was it worth it?
  22. The fans will turn on the players so i agree. They were in the players corner solidly when the strike happened last week. The owners gave the players a lot so now they'll look selfish.
  23. This potential failure to ratify the new CBA by the players, (mostly Canadians I'd say) is so ridiculous that I won't comment on it until it actually happens & we know the reasons why. All I will do is quote a line, I've used in discussions here in the past, "Be careful what you wish for as it may come true." Let's hope cooler heads prevail & it's ratified.
